Waterlogged

It rained.....again...all day yesterday.  We've had about 6 inches so far and it's supposed to rain again today.  Rain, rain, go away!  I did laundry, some sewing, made progress on the basket, succeeded in finally getting one complete pattern done on a shawl I'm knitting, which is a miracle considering it's the first piece I'm following a chart for.  I'm beginning to feel waterlogged.  And I know the pipe in the pond needs clearing but that's going to wait until tomorrow when we're supposed to have sunshine (yay!).
Y'all have a sunshine kind of day and remember:  he who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

Rain, rain

It's raining.....again.  My driveway hasn't been "fixed" so this rain just adds to the adventure trying to drive in or out.  Whenever I read Hermit Jim's blog and he says it's raining then I can expect rain in about three days.  No one can say we are in a drought.  I'm not getting any yard work done.  It's so dark and gray I don't really feel like doing anything but the laundry won't wait and I have a basket to finish.
It rained yesterday but a friend, my grandson and I went to a local pow-wow anyway.  The rain was on and off, not hard.  Looked at some of the crafts, etc.  My grandson and I danced in the circle when the public was invited.  He found some kids to play with while A and I listened to a young man play flute, then listened to a performance by Women of Heart.  Grand entry brought tears to my eyes...don't know why.
Guess I'd better get a move on.  Laundry doesn't do itself.
Y'all have a quiet day and stay dry.

Daughter's coming up today.  She has a dentist appointment.  Have to keep those teeth pearly white and in good shape so she looks as beautiful as she smiles and sings.  She's beautiful anyway but a nice smile always adds something.
It looks to be a pretty day.  Hopefully the sun we've had the last couple of days has dried out the soaked earth.  I don't mind some rain once in a while but 3" at once is a little much.  My driveway's trenches have trenches.  One proceeds very slowly driving in or out.
Y'all have a promising day and remember:  he who dies with the most toys.....is still dead.

Wouldn't you know it?  Yesterday I planted some peas that I started in the house.  That was in the morning.  Then, in the afternoon, it rained.  I mean it RAINED!  I haven't checked the poor pea plants yet but will before I leave.  Poor things were probably beaten to death.  Sigh.  Hopefully the bean seeds stayed in the ground.  Sigh.....again.  And it's supposed to rain again today.....double sigh.
Guess I'll hold off planting anything else.

Thought

I am saddened by what has been transpiring in our country of late.  The hatred and frustration is growing.  The government is eating away at our rights.  The government is sending money that it doesn't have to nations whose people want us dead just because it wants them to "like" us.  Like that's going to happen.  How 'bout we start taking care of our own and letting those that have fought for hundreds of years go on fighting.  Bring our men and women home so we have some kind of defense instead of trying to save the world 'cause that isn't going to happen either.  I wonder how many would be willing to write to their congress person to let him/her know how unhappy they are.
I'm glad I grew up when I did and can only hope that the future for my grandchildren is better  than now.

Whether the weather

I wish we could have three or four nice days in a row so the ground could dry out a bit.  I would love to be able to start working in the garden, getting it ready for planting.  So far every day that's been decent I've been working.  When I'm home it rains.  Today is supposed to be a nice day and I might be able to get some work done outside after I go to the gallery.  One of the persons who is ordinarily there is in Florida so our fearless leader may be by herself and I don't like that idea.  It's not that we get hordes of people in.  I just don't like her being alone.  So.....another gal is supposed to go in but I'll pop in and stay until she comes (which usually isn't until after lunch).  We also have some people coming in to set up Native American art.  That should be interesting.
Getting back to the garden...I've started some peas and parsnips in the house.  I'll need to get some kind of frame for the peas as these particular ones are climbers.  Think I'll get them in the ground first.  Will also have tomatoes, okra, maybe asparagus.  That's all I can handle.  I'll put some herbs in a different spot.  Since I'm not home every day I'm not sure how things'll go but I'm giving it a try.
Y'all have a productive day and remember:  a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take everything you have.
