Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

I'll get this written before Windows decides it wants to install updates with or without my permission.
Had a very nice day yesterday with some of the ladies from the guild. We went to Franklin for lunch and some shopping at the quilt shops. On the way we went through Mountain City. Holy cow, what a mess. The tornado went through and wreaked a lot of havoc. In one spot, when the tree went down its roots separated the small wing of a house and lifted it up so it was sitting all cock-eyed agains the main part of the house and on the tree. Lots of trees down and lots of trees snapped off about 2/3 of the way up. Ouch. Then I saw film of houses around Lake Burton. Mother Nature sure doesn't care about how much money you have. I'm talking million dollar homes smashed to smithereens. I've never seen such a mess here. I'm sorry for the folks who lost eveything and saddened by the loss of lives. Like I said....Mother Nature doesn't care. I guess we were luckier than Alabama for sure. I hope to never see such devastation again for a long, long time.
Have to remember to call for a burn permit today. Family is coming up and we're going to burn the brush/tree pile on Sunday the 1st.
Hope Prince William and his bride have a happy life. I didn't bother watching. While there is a lot of pomp associated with such a wedding and actors and actresses just MUST be seen there, it doesn't affect me in any way that I know of and I think that it's just a lot of fluff for the TV stations to show.
Gonna get going....y'all have a bright day and tonight wish upon a star. Who knows? It may come true.

It's another rainy day. Since there's lots I can do indoors that's okay. I'm also going to get that funhouse mirror on my van changed out. Have some grocery shopping to do and must go to the post office to check for mail. Had to get a p.o. box 'cause I receive checks from landowners and we've had mail stolen from the mail boxes out front.

Family may be coming back tomorrow. I won't be here but that doesn't matter, J gets work done anyway. I've given him pretty much free rein on what to get done. He even see things that need doing that I don't. He took the instructions on the deer fencing home to study. Maybe some progress will be made on that front next time he's here.

Glad I emptied the rain barrel. It was full. Now it can store more. Unfortunately the water that was in it really wasn't that useful since we've had enough rain to not need it. It'll fill up again and this time I'll use it to water what I hope to be my herb garden.

I have lettuce growing in the flower box on my porch! I purposely didn't plant in the ground 'cause I know some critter would have had a good lunch. This way, too, all I have to do is step out on the porch when I want lettuce for salad or sandwich.

Guess I'd better get a move on. Nothing's going to get done if I just sit here. Y'all have a gracious day and know that you're never too old for naptime.

Monday, April 25, 2011

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. And a good one at the gallery. Five ladies came in and did some serious shopping. Good for us as they were the only ones who bought. I don't know how much I'll make from the sales but it won't be shabby. My savings account will like the next check.
Weather forecast shows rain the next three days. Dammit! Will never get the deer fencing up or the garden started at this rate. GRRRRRR. But on the good side, the ground will be softer so putting in the posts won't be quite as difficult. I hope.
My right side is still sore from the spill I took the other day. I am so lucky I didn't break anything. Can't afford to do that either monetarily or physically. I'm right-handed so breaking anything on that side would definitely put a damper on getting things done.
Enjoyed a nice dinner with friends yesterday evening. They live not too far from here and right next door to two nudist camps. No, they can't, and don't want to, see anything. Some people just need to stay clothed. 'Nuf said.
Y'all have an interesting day and consider: Earth is the insane asylum of the universe.

Sunday, April 24, 2011

For those of you who celebrate it....Happy Easter. It's going to be a beautiful day here. I'll be going to the gallery today then having dinner with friends.
Took a header yesterday walking back to the gallery after picking up lunch. My foot slid on some sand/gravel between the road and sidewalk and down I went. Sunglasses flew off my face and landed on the sidewalk....still in one piece TG. As for me, I'm fine. Some sore muscles and a couple of scraped knuckles. That'll teach me not to look where I'm putting my feet. I had on clogs instead of sneakers so that might have had something to do with it. I dunno.
Why, oh why, does it amost always rain when daughter and family come up? They're supposed to come up tomorrow.... probably in the afternoon....so J and I can work out in the yard. They'll spend the night and, since I have Tuesday off, we theoretically could work out in the yard all day. But, nooooo. It's supposed to rain on Tuesday. I may never get a garden put in.
Y'all have a peaceful day.

Every day in every way I am getting more and more disappointed in where my country is headed. I truly believe I grew up in the best of times. The really sad thing is that I don't think there's a damn thing I can do about it except write to my congressmen (I'll get a form letter in return that doesn't even come close to addressing why I wrote) and making sure I vote for the person I feel least harmful. I read a blog this morning that had an article about the ACLU sticking its nose into something again. Seems that now you don't have to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance! Truly the ACLU is getting too powerful and the Supreme Court is getting too liberal. Where are our values headed? The dump, it would appear. To me not standing for the Pledge or putting your hand over your heart is a sign of total disrespect and those who don't wish to say the Pledge can go live somewhere else!

I don't know how much longer I'll be on this planet but I hope to never see us lose the few freedoms we have left. You'd best watch out, people, 'cause Big Brother is here and gaining strength.

Y'all have a thoughtful day and remember: He who choses security over freedom has neither.

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Was awakened by thunder and lightning about 4 a.m. Hard rain, too. Thought I heard some dripping but hoping not. If so maybe down the chimney, not the wall.
Took the van in yesterday so they could replace the side mirrors. The guys didn't break them this time only the one on the driver's side must be from a carnival fun house. What I see is really distorted. They're going to order another one for me. If I had to look in that mirror too long I'd get dizzy.
Supposed to be another wet day. I'll be at the co-op/gallery. Going to try to get some more stuff done for my daughter to take and sell in June when she goes to Ohio. I decided not to go this year as I want to get stuff done around here that has been neglected for so long because I was always away. Or so it seemed. And there's lots to be done. It may take a while to catch up but I'm going to try.
Y'all have an interesting day and: believe

If all goes well the deer fencing project should get started today. If all goes well.

Y'all have a productive day and ask yourself: how many roads must a man walk down before he stops to ask for directions?

Monday, April 18, 2011

I believe it's going to be a nice day. I'm getting the side mirrors replaced on the van (I can't believe one just fell off as I was tootling down the highway!) Then I go pick up my tax returns. Don't even want to think about what I might owe but am hoping it's nothing. Shoot, I'm just getting along as it is.

Would love it if daughter and all could come up so J and I can get going on the garden. We've decided to put up the deer fence first, then work on setting up the beds. Even if we don't get crops in this year at least we'll have it all set up for next year.

Speaking of deer, I've had to go out with the BB pistol two mornings in a row now to scare them away. They like to eat my Nandina's and tromp around where I have other stuff growing. I know they have to eat but there's plenty of stuff for them in the woods.

Gotta get going....y'all have a perfect day and consider this: If aliens are smart enough to travel through space, why do they keep abducting the dumbest people on earth?

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Had a good day at the co-op/gallery yesterday. Actually got some things done. Started a new project in the afternoon that I hope to finish today. If not today, tomorrow. Had dinner with friends at a local B&B (scrumptious) then on to a reception for the fiber show of some friends. Some pretty incredible stuff. Made me want to come home and "create" something. I didn't though. Too tired.

Going to watch the latest Harry Potter movie tonight. Maybe make some popcorn to go with. I'm going to have to buy it to add to the rest of them and when the last one comes out, buy that too so I have the whole collection.

The sun is out so perhaps it will warm up. It went down into the 30's last night. Glad I haven't planted any annuals. I'd have to go get replacements. May come home early today and take a nap. Didn't sleep well last night. Full moon and back ache. Had to get up to answer Mother Nature's call around 4:00 and boy, was it bright outside. Had a real hard time getting back to sleep.

Y'all have a lovely day and visualize using your turn signals.

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Hooray, the roofers came yesterday and I don't think there were any more leaks during that storm we had last night! The rain sure did come down hard. And the wind was something fierce. I must have been really tired since I slept through it all. Just as I was nodding off I saw lightning and heard thunder but that was about it for hearing anything more. It's still windy this morning and the sky is gray but the sun is supposed to shine on us later on. I sure hope so.

I'm experimenting with growing lettuce in one of my flower boxes on the porch. It held strawberry plants last year but they never made it through the winter. It sure would be cool to have fresh lettuce. And to know that there are no chemicals on it. I also bought some nasturtiums for later, after the lettuce. Did you know that they go well in salad? I bought red ones for the color.

Guess I'd better get ready to go to the co-op/gallery. It's a full day today with working there then going to dinner and a reception with friends.

Y'all have a calm day and remember: resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Spring can be entertaining. I've been watching the tree rats chasing each other up and down the pine trees, going as high as possible then jumping to the next tree, going down that one and up another. Birds are chasing each other from branch to branch, tree to tree. The hummers protect "their" territory (i.e. the feeders) by chasing interlopers away. Then they do that swoopy thing in the air. Almost makes you dizzy to watch them.

I went out and bought a new hummingbird feeder yesterday as one of the ones from last year had too much black stuff in the perch thing that I never could get out. Don't know why they make them so hard to clean. I'll have to be more diligent this year.

Wish I could quit having so much trouble with the internet. If I weren't so hooked on the ease of information gathering, etc. I do believe I'd quit using it. Too late now. 'Sides, it's nice to be in touch with folks.

Y'all have a pretty day.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Yesterday was a dull day. Not that every day needs to be exciting, but..... It was just dull. I did get the laundry done (whee!) and some sewing done. Other than that....nothing useful. Just didn't feel like accomplishing anything more. I'm hoping today brings a little more something to it.
Just finished watching a video that Ben in Texas had in his post. Talk about incredible! It's about a hypnotized shark. I'd have copied it here but I don't know how. I think if you go to YouTube and put in "hypnotized shark" it might bring it up. It's absolutely worth a try. Y'all have a better day than yesterday and consider this: the best way to predict the future is to help create it.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Don't know what the weather's going to be like today. Right now there's a mix of clouds (dark) and sun. Will the roofers come today? Doubt it. It thundered and rained during the night. I'm hoping the next few days are clear so the wall that gets wet when it rains (bad flashing around chimney) will dry out.

Since I'm not sure what the weather's going to do I reckon I'll get laundry and cleaning done. It's a good day for it.

Put out the hummingbird feeder yesterday (or was it the day before?) and there's a hummer on it as I write. I need to get another one 'cause one won't be enough. I'm going to have to be diligent about cleaning them as they can get mold in them easily from the sugar. They aren't the easiest things to clean either. I've been told not to put them in the dishwasher but.....

Need to get a move on.....have to pay some bills and put out the trash.

Y'all have a sunny day and remember: Fearful people do stupid things.

Monday, April 11, 2011

Yesterday I worked outside again. Man, it was hot! Had to put a bandana round my head to keep the sweat from getting into my eyes. But I got two beds turned without benefit of a tiller. Hopefully my daughter's Someone will till them for me next time they are up here. The one out front won't be too hard to do, but the one on the other side of the house may cause a problem 'cause there are so many little roots. I had a time wrestling with 'em and couldn't get all of them. Although the sun's out today I'll be resting and working at the gallery. This ol' body of mine is protesting all the rigors I've put it through this past week. I'm not quitting, though, 'cause things need to be done and I'm gonna get 'em done....slowly maybe....but done.

Hopefully the roofing guys will come this week and fix the leak at the chimney. I need to get hold of an electrician to change out some of the light switches, too. The one in my room doesn't work at all and I need the fan to work, never mind the light. It was 85 up there last night! Had to turn on the AC. I could just hear that meter whizzing around at a gazillion mph. It's awfully early in the year to have to use the AC. Last year we went directly from winter to summer. Hope this year isn't the same or we're in for some really hot weather.

Guess I'll get a move on and get ready to go. Y'all have a super day and remember: artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Another beautiful day....so far. I think I'll play in the dirt again. There's an area close to the house where I can plant some flowers and such but the soil needs some amending. And there's another spot that would be good for herbs after that soil is amended. Neither spot is large so I should be able to get them done today. If the muscles don't give out. I haven't had this much exercise in a dog's age. Maybe I'll lose a couple of pounds!?

Y'all have a peaceful day and remember: Seize your opportunities.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Didn't get a chance to get on the 'puter yesterday since it resided in the room where my grandson sleeps when family is here. Plus I had to get to the co-op. Right after leaving the co-op I came home, gathered up some iris to take to a friend, got my meds and went to knit group. Didn't stay too long as I was quite tired so came home, watched a recorded favorite on the tube and called it an early day. I think I could sleep another two hours or so but need to get a move on since I have to open this morning. And I need to gather up some more iris for another friend.
Y'all have a relaxing day and remember: Don't piss off the faeries for they are armed with sling shots, bows and arrows and slingshots.

Thursday, April 7, 2011

I had so much fun playing in the dirt yesterday that I'm going to do it again today. I'll have some help later on since daughter and family are coming, at least for the day if not spending the night so J can work outside some more tomorrow.

I'm playing hooky from the co-op today. I told the director that if it was a nice day I'd be working in the garden and she was cool with that. She understands that since I live by myself I have to "make hay while the sun shines".

I've lost count on the number of iris I've dug up so far. I have a ways to go before I get the rest of them and it won't be easy because grass has grown up in that area, making it much harder to dig. I'm going to have to plog along, though, if I want to plant any veggies this year. Hell, maybe this year is going to be spent just getting the ground ready and the deer fencing up.

Well, gotta go. Y'all have a terrific day.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Another beautiful day that should prove warmer than yesterday. A good day to get out and play in the dirt.....which is what I'm going to do. I have the rest of the iris to dig up. Bet I'll be tired when I get done with that. A couple of people have expressed an interest in receiving some of the iris so I'll be able to get rid of what I don't replant in another space. They'll be getting a LOT of iris.

Didn't get much done yesterday. Hair cut, lunch with a friend, grocery shopping and knit group. Tried to start a particular project but that didn't work out so began another scarf. You'd think I'd get bored doing scarves but these are so different and quick that I can get one or two done in a day. Now, if they'd just sell.

Been on the 'puter long enough this morning. Need to get a move on if I'm going to get anything done.

Y'all have a beauty filled day and....live the life you love.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Real hard rain and wind last night. Could see the effect on the wall next to the chimney. Sure hope the guys can get it fixed soon or the wall's gonna turn gooey (sheetrock). I'm almost afraid to take the sheetrock down to see what's behind it. Hopefully the wind that's blowing today will dry things out.

Dug in the garden again yesterday but didn't get much done. Will attempt to get out there again today or tomorrow, God willin' and the Creek don't rise. Yesterday it got to 80, today it might get to 40+. Yup, it's April. I'll know the warm weather is finally here for good when the hummingbirds let me know it's time to put out the feeders. Although they've been fooled in the past. Guess it's time to get a move on. Gonna get my hair cut today then have lunch with a friend. Almost forgot today is knit day. The socks are done so it's on to another project, but not another pair of socks. Don't know if I'll do another pair. Maybe, just to make sure I remember how.

Y'all have a calm day and remember: a meal without wine is called breakfast.

Monday, April 4, 2011

It was a gorgeous day yesterday but I was inside at the co-op/gallery. When I came home I decided to get some work done in the garden because it was still warm and daylight. I dug up iris for 2 hours and only got a quarter of them out of the ground. At least it's a start. Now if it would only stay nice today. We're supposed to get storms this evening. Good ol' April weather....never know what it's going to do from one day to the next. If the storms hold off I might be able to get some more digging done. Maybe that will wear out the kinks in my hands. Actually my whole body aches, but hey, I guess I should expect that after being pretty sedentary all winter.

Y'all have a fruitful day and don't let "them" take away who you are.

Sunday, April 3, 2011

It was a beautiful day yesterday albeit a bit windy. Picked up family and we went to the Colonial Market Faire at Fort Yargo. Saw some outdoor activities such as blacksmithing and such. Also the beginnings of a garden with a wattle fence which looked strong enough to keep out deer. All the participants were dressed in the appropriate garb, including children. Grandson played a tossing game with a little girl. Unfortunately the wind made it difficult, catching the ring and taking it in a different direction from which it was tossed. We ate frybread sandwiches that were delicious and not at all greasy as one might expect them to be. The wind blew down the poor preacher's tent but others righted it again. Saw a knitting buddy who was a participant. She and other ladies were preparing for the ladies' tea. All in all it was a very pleasant afternoon. I know I enjoyed it and hope the others did too.
Y'all have a pleasant Sunday and remember: We are not human beings on a spiritual journey.. We are spiritual beings on a human journey.

Saturday, April 2, 2011

The sun is shining! Yay! It's a good day for a family outing. In a little while I'm going to K's home to pick everyone up and we'll be going to Ft. Yargo to the Colonial Market Faire. It's supposed to warm up, which is a good thing, 'cause it's also supposed to be a mite windy and you know what the wind does to a cooler temperature. I'm sure it will be an interesting outing and hopefully my grandson will enjoy the diversion. He killed his Ipod and is devastated. It was his constant companion. Unfortunately he fell asleep with it in his bed and had an accident (wet) during the night and it got wet. K is trying different ways to dry it out but chances are it's dead and another one is not being purchased. On the up side of this, maybe he'll pay more attention to what's going on around him instead of having his eyes and mind constantly on it. Sorry, just being a grandma.

Y'all have a great Saturday and remember: gems are precious, friends are priceless.

Friday, April 1, 2011

Hmmmm, April 1st.....Fool's day. I'll be busy at the co-op/gallery, then on to knit night so I should stay out of trouble, although Joe may pull something tonight. He's that kinda guy. He's the store owner's husband who is holding down the fort while she visits her new grandbaby in Omaha.
Y'all have a quiet prank-free day and remember: Enjoy the little things in life for one day you may look back and realize that they were the big things.
