Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

Here I am at Casa de Crazy, waiting for the others to stir. They stay up much later than I and I arise much earlier than they. It looks to be a beautiful day. Tonight we'll see some little (and not so little) people in costumes, come to beg candy. I always get a kick out of seeing which character is the most popular each year. Haven't made up my mind yet what I'll carve into the pumpkin. I'm thinking something fancy this year. Last year simplicity ruled. Mayhap someone here will take and post pictures of everyone's artwork.
Y'all have a safe Hallowe'en.

It's down to the pond today. The sun is shining and, although it's a bit nippy out there, the pipe must be cleared. This afternoon I'll be going to the new co-op to get my space set up and settled. Maybe even get some work started. I have a lot to get put away and in order. I must say that it will be nice to have a well lighted space in which to work and good company to enjoy whilst working.
This is the second day where I have heard a squirrel on the porch. For whatever reason they seem to want to gnaw on the railing wood. Sharpening their teeth? My handy dandy BB pistol is strategically located next to the front door so I don't have to search for it. Locked and loaded! I would like to keep my porch in one piece, thank you.
It appears that the situation at Casa de Crazy is better. I'm still ready to strangle whoever sent the email to my ex son-in-law. Malicious bitch/bastard. Coward. And he's not man enough to tell who sent it. Anonymous my Aunt Fanny.
Okay, time to get a move on. The pond awaits, I have grocery shopping to do, etc. etc.

Have a nice Friday and remember: Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

I have learned more about the background behind Kyddryn's blog this morning. It saddens me that her ex-husband will believe lies about her and her household then confront her about them without checking facts and being reasonable. While I understand his concern for the welfare of his son he should know from past experience that K would NEVER do anything to harm or endanger their son or allow anyone else to do so. Unfortunately I don't think T would know the truth if it walked up and slapped him in the face. What can you say about a person who thinks of no one but himself, buys HD TV's, etc., lives in his mother's basement and pays nothing, not even for food. And he probably doesn't have a clue that every time he upsets K, his son sees it and wonders if it's his fault. He also doesn't realize that one of these days his son is going to see him for what he really is. 'Nuff said.

What influence do you have on others in your life?

Deluge!!

The deluge we had Monday was nothing compared to the one we had yesterday evening. At one point I thought a tornado was about to pass through. The wind blew hard enough to drive the rain horizontally against the front of the house which is under a roof. And it blew over my potting bench. Hail, yes. Which prompted me to think, uh oh. Did I head for the basement? No. It was a wind shear and a violent one. Unusual that it came from the East, not Southwest which is the prevailing wind direction. I'm going to have to walk a ways to grab the trash can and two buckets that were flung about. I'm surprised there are any leaves left on any of the trees. The dogwood directly in front of the house was bent in two. Luckily it didn't break. And yet, the old mail box sitting on top of the retaining wall is still in place. It's not attached, it just sits there. Weird. Not only did we have one deluge, we had at least three (that's how many I heard and it's hard not to hear it what with a metal roof and all). Needless to say I didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked. I see a nap in my future. This Fall sinus thing is driving me batty but I think it's on it's way out.
One good thing about all this rain we've had is that I've gotten a bunch of sewing done and have done some cleaning in the basement. It's raining again as I type this so I reckon I'll be doing some more today.
Y'all have a great day and remember: Don't believe everything you think.

Today is the second day of my "It's Fall" feeling crappy day. It's almost a year to the day since the last time I felt this way. Must be something in the air or change in temp, etc. At any rate I continue to feel crappy and probably will for another day or so until my body adjusts to this crazy weather. Also, it's raining again so no going down to the pond. Because I actually got some sewing done yesterday I think I'll hunker down and get to it again today.

Hope yours is a healthy day. Something to ponder Time flies when you're completely bewildered.

Monday, October 25, 2010

I had the day pretty well planned out. In big red letters on my calendar was the word "POND". That meant it was go down to the pond and make sure the overflow pipe was clear day. Welllll, that ain't happenin'. Why? It's raining, that's why. Yes, I could go down there anyway 'cause I've done so before but.....I have a sore throat and my sinuses are giving me fits and if I have to bend over, I may get dizzy and fall in (not funny, the water is getting cold). So it looks like laundry and sewing today. Don't get me wrong we need the rain big time. I just wish it could have held off a day. Perhaps tomorrow will be better and I can go down then.
It's going to be interesting to see what the driveway is like after the deluge (and I mean DELUGE) this morning. The man who does our roads was kind enough to scrape it and shape it, but no gravel has been put down yet. Wonder if I have deep gorges in it. Guess I'll find out next time I go out. Sigh. Maybe should just go back to bed with a good book. Nah....to much to do.

Y'all have a nice Monday and think about this: Some days you're the windshield, other days you're the bug.

Grandson and I had a good time yesterday. We ran some errands for me then stopped at the evil empire (Walmart) to get a couple of new trashcans as a surprise for daughter. Yeah, yeah, wow, great surprise, trash cans. Believe me, they were needed and she was delighted. Today we return to the evil empire to purchase pumpkins. I was amazed at the number of them they had there. And they weren't all weird shapes. Great for carving next weekend. And inexpensive. We might go to the Hallowe'en store to look for a costume for grandson. That is, if he can make up his mind what he wants to be. I'm afraid going to the store is going to overwhelm him a bit, but we'll see.
Yesterday we played with his RC car. He showed me how to run it and steer it then had a great time both chasing it and running away from it. He enjoyed playing cop more than actually running the car. We had a great time chasing each other and running into each other with it.
I believe this house is cursed. This morning the microwave refused to open. Daughter, who was trying to heat up some biscuits for breakfast before going over to the track pleaded, cajoled, begged, but the door wouldn't open. Nor will any of the buttons work. It seems that any and all things mechanical have something go wrong. Never all at once, mind you, but one thing after another. The washing machine has to be beaten in a certain spot to finish a cycle. It's the little things, you know?
Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember: He who dies with the most toys....is still dead.

Saturday, October 23, 2010

So, here I am at Casa de Crazy while daughter is at the track earning some moolah. Grandson is beginning to stir (at least I think I hear some kind of noises coming from the direction of his room). It's a beautiful fall day. I have a quick errand to run this morning but it looks like a good day to be outside. Grandson has an RC car and I'm going to let him show me how to run it here in the cul-de-sac. Just hope I don't wreck it.
Did get some things inventoried and priced yesterday at the co-op. Brought some stuff with me to do the same here. That is if I have time. Once grandson is up he's on the go ALL the time. Mayhap if he wants to play on the computer.....
Y'all have a scrumptious day and remember: Not all who wander are lost.

Friday, October 22, 2010

I am frantically trying to get pieces together to take to the co-op and this morning found out I'll have to do an inventory. Aaaaack! Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of writing and making up inventory numbers, etc.
Will be taking care of grandson this weekend as daughter is working at the track. Someone is working this weekend also which is why I'm watching grandson. Hopefully they'll both be successful. I may or may not get online. If I don't I'll try to be back Monday. It all depends on how things go at Casa de Crazy.
Have a great weekend.

I leave you with this question.....Why be normal?

Thursday, October 21, 2010

My thanks to daughter and her Someone for helping me move stuff to the new co-op. Thankfully the work table frame survived it's sail off the truck and thankfully daughter (who was behind us in my van) did not get hit by said frame and thankfully two GDOT guys who were behind her were able to stop and help get said frame back in the truck where it was promptly bungied down. The frame was wounded but survived and was successfully "cured" by Someone once we arrived at the co-op. I've had that work table since '84 and would have hated to see it terminated by a fall off a truck, 'specially since I had a hand in making it.

It's off to the gallery and I'm running behind (as usual) so I'll leave you with this question: If tin whistles are made of tin, what do they make fog horns out of?

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

It's the third Tuesday of the month and that means......Quilt Guild! This month we are having a "I don't need this stuff in my quilt space anymore" sale. So yesterday afternoon I dug through all my junk (I mean stuff) and came up with things I could definitely live without. If it doesn't sell I guess I'll just have to donate it somewhere. It's mostly fabric that I know I'll never use but couldn't resist buying in the first place. Sigh, so much fabric and so little time. Of course, I say the same thing about yarn. I'll stay away from that for now.
I'm also trying to get stuff ready to move over to the co-op. Perhaps I can get work done there that I can't seem to get done here at home. You know, life gets in the way. Too much needs doing around here, too. I'm also madly trying to get jewelry ready for the co-op. Whew....I've been busy! Hopefully I can slow down a bit next week.
Y'all have a clear day and remember: Every mother is a working mother.

Monday, October 18, 2010

It was a great day yesterday. Working on a project with my daughter was fun. Her mask, when finished is going to be beautiful. Mine isn't finished either. I'll have to be in the mood to finish it. Funny, I had an idea in my head about what I wanted to to. Even had a picture of what the mask might look like when finished. It is coming out totally different. A different color and design. No, I'm not taking a picture of it. It is something private, this one.
Time to get a move on. I have a quilt to put together for quilting and a ton of other stuff to do. Time is running away from me.

Y'all have a blessed day and remember: You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Today daughter and I are going to do something together. No, not shopping. We're going to make masks. One of the artists with whom I "play" at the gallery is doing a workshop and I signed us up for it. It's been a long time since daughter and I have had the time to do something artsy together. A friend of hers is going to watch the grandson. Ex-husband was supposed to but he "forgot" and is working a race instead (how convenient). He often "forgets" or something will come up at the last minute when he's supposed to have his son for the weekend or he says he'll pick him up at a specific time and then doesn't show up until much later. Daughter has given up trying to make any solid plans for those weekends. Grrrr. It would be nice if she and J could come up for a weekend without grandson. He can be a handfull at times and constantly wants attention, giving his mom little peace (of which she could use some right now). Hopefully today will be an enjoyable one for her. I know it will be for me. So with that I will say.... have a nice Sunday and remember: Faith is a journey......not a guilt trip.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

It's a gorgeous day. The temperature went down into the high 30's last night so that made for great sleeping with the window open and a nice down comforter on the bed. I like crisp fall days. Must get a bunch accomplished today. There's a quilt I need to get the batting and backing cut for so I can take it to the lady who will quilt it for me on her long arm machine. I also have a bunch of jewelry to throw into the tumbler to polish so I can take it to the co-op I'm participating in. And I have to start arranging the stuff I need to take over there to my space that I'll be working in. Too bad all of this is inside. Oh well. The sooner I get it all done the better.

Just want you to know that the voices in my head aren't real, but they sometimes have some great ideas. Y'all have a lovely weekend.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

&#@%!!!!! Vista. Had to get here by a roundabout route this morning. I kept getting the message that the page couldn't be found! This is one of those moments (just a moment, mind you) that I'd like to take the computer and throw it off the porch and wish it had never been invented.
My back hurts and I'm in a crochety mood because of it. Problems with this machine does....not....help.
Happily the truck is fixed and my daughter can now relax and get some sleep. So can I. What will we do when there are no more shade tree mechanics and kind people who trust enough to write a check from their own account to pay for the repair, knowing that they will be sent a check to replace the funds the very next day? I hope I don't live to see that day.
It's off to the gallery so you have a trust-full day and remember: even if the voices aren't real, they have some pretty good ideas.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Last night my daughter called quite upset. I had loaned my truck to her Someone so he could go camping in Ohio. Well, it appeared there was something wrong with the truck. The battery light was on indicating that the alternator was not charging it. There he was in the middle of nowhere with phone signal going in and out, lost. I have roadside service so I gave her the information hoping that J could at least get to his destination before the truck died. He almost did. It died about 2 miles from his destination. I'm hoping it's just the alternator belt. The truck is, after all, 15 years old and although I have faithfully taken it in for service when it was time, things definitely will start going wrong. Unfortunately it happened in the middle of Ohio, in the middle of the night. I'll learn more this morning when daughter calls me. Hopefully she finally got some sleep. I know what it's like to be worried about someone you love and unable to do anything. Even I had a hard time going to sleep last night. I have offered to ride to the rescue if need be. He's family after all.
Y'all have a good day and remember: Some days it's not worth chewing through the restraints.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

It was a long day yesterday. Up at 5:30 so we could get to the concert site around 7:00 in order to set up our vend space. Our friend PJ was already there when we arrived, setting up outside. We had thought we were going to be inside but.....we wanted more room than they could give us inside. As it turns out inside became so crowded it was difficult to actually stop and look at things. Luckily it wasn't raining. It was quite cool when we arrived but quickly warmed up as the sun rose. Later it was VERY warm. We happened to be on the side of the parking lot that didn't get shade. Something to consider if we do it again.
Because three of the band members were elsewhere this day I and my daughter's sweetie were "guest" performers. Considering that we only had three rehearsals I'd say we did quite well. The audience got into the music and asked for an encore. I was even asked to do an autograph, twice! The whole experience was fun, although at the end of the day we were all exhausted. I'd do it again, though, if asked.
Y'all have a peaceful day and remember: The more power the government has, the less you have.

Friday, October 8, 2010

I'm off to daughter's today. We have rehearsal for tomorrow's performance. I've always been a bit shy about being in front of a crowd of people but hope I'll hold up tomorrow. I won't be posting tomorrow (like you are really going to miss me) as we'll be at the site. I'm still not sure if I want to try to sell any of my stuff, but will make up my mind before I go down there.
This is Friday and the weekend is here so remember: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Just got back from my daughter's after she and I went to buy some fabric (she's going to make a quilt for the new addition) and to look for a card rack and a portable jewelry case so a friend can take my jewelry (and hopefully sell some) on the road. Success! Spent the night at her house 'cause she and her Someone went to see the pre-viewing of Secretariat. My grandson and I watched a couple of movies ourselves. Madagascar and Bolt. I hadn't seen Bolt and enjoyed it very much. Enjoyed Madagascar this time around, too.
It's off to the chiropractor in a few minutes. Not that it's bothering me that much. Just a kind of maintenance thing.
Y'all have a great afternoon and evening and remember: Never yell, "FIRE", in a movie theatre.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

It's another beautiful day. In the 40's last night so good sleeping weather. Tucked under my nice warm covers with a window open for fresh air. Surprised the hummers are still here. Thought they would have headed for warmer weather by now. Have lots to do today, playing catch up from being away for a week. Took me two hours just to go through the mail! After it warms up a bit I think I'll open windows downstairs to air out the house. Wish I had a real clothesline. Nothing like the smell of sheets just taken off the line and put on the bed. Just can't get that with a dryer. Need to check the pond. Must get a move on so y'all have a pretty day and remember: Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.

Monday, October 4, 2010

It was a long week of long days and short nights. But lots of great racing. I refer to the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, located in Braselton, GA. Luckily my daughter (who had even shorter nights and longer days) lives a whopping 9/10 of a mile away from the track so I could sleep at least one hour more a night.
My job was actually three in one. I was liaison between the main sanctioning body (IMSA) and the track; logger; communicator. Time off? What time off. Thankfully a friend was there with me to help with the liaison and logging jobs. My job as communicator was to relieve the IMSA communicator and do the communicating for the other groups that weren't IMSA. Although I don't think I've quite caught up on sleep I'm close to it.
My daughter K, bless her, did all the registration of the workers. The morning meetings were early (7:00) so she would get up at ogodthirty to make sure there was hot coffee and a nosh or two. Then she stayed up until the end of the day social was pretty much over. Like I said, long days, short nights. Cars were on the course at 8:00 a.m. and went to at least 6:00 p.m. And one day went until 9:00 p.m. so the main race group could have night practice.
And everyone who worked this event was a volunteer. Yup, that's right. A volunteer. Try getting a younger person to work those hours for nothing but a shirt and cap! Why do we do it? Because we love the sport.
Well, I've lots of catching up to do here at the cabin. Best get to it. Y'all have a beautimous day and remember: what we think we become.
