Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

Ow

My back is out.  It hurts.  I don't know what made it go out.  Sometimes all I have to do is move the wrong way.  I went to my son's yesterday.  His back is out, too.  He doesn't know what did it.  If mine doesn't behave in the next few days I'll make an appointment with the chiropractor.  I suggested he see one also.  He's had PT but that doesn't seem to have done much.  He was told to do some exercises.  Those haven't helped.  OW!

Post holiday

Yesterday was such a nice quiet day for me.  I was able to get all the fabric cut for my February classes, laundry done, and some sewing completed.  It was a rainy, dreary day so in the afternoon I made a scarf then watched Farmageddon on Netflix.  If you ever have a chance to watch it please do.  It will educate you on how much the government has intruded into lives and livelihoods.
Today I travel to my son's to celebrate Boxing day.  It's always interesting to visit since I don't get to much and seeing how much the children have grown is always a surprise.  My oldest granddaughter will be a teenager this coming year.  Hard to believe!
I hope everyone had the kind of day they hoped for.  May your memories always be good.  Y'all have a quiet recovery day.

A quiet day

So.... tomorrow is Christmas.  Hopefully everyone who celebrates this partcular holiday has the kind of day they wish for.  As for me, I'll have a nice quiet day at home, having celebrated Yule with my daughter and her entourage.  I'll be spending Boxing Day with my son and his family.  Tomorrow is going to be a day for me to do as I please.  I have fabric to cut for my classes in February and while I'm doing that I just might get some laundry done (a necessary evil).  I happen to know that all the stores in this area will be closed, even the evil empire (Walmart).  I may even take a nap or watch a movie via Netflix.
Whatever way you celebrate, be safe and have a very Merry Christmas.

House...work

Tomorrow daughter and family, along with a friend, arrive to celebrate Yule (the Winter Solstice) so I have work to do today.  Most of the house is clean but the main living area and kitchen still need work.  That'll be taken care of today.  Then I'll put up the tiny tree and decorate it.  If I feel like it I'll make the peanut butter and birdseed pinecones today so everyone can concentrate on the cranberry-popcorn garland tomorrow for the outside tree.  I plan on putting the outside tree where it can be observed from indoors.  Could prove interesting.
We'll have our fire, rain or shine.  It's always a challenge, it seems, to get it going.  The recent rain has soaked the pile so we'll take out some newpaper and some dry basket reed scraps.  We've started the fire in the rain in the past so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I'll be turning off the computer while family is here.  The kids sleep in this room and the modem has a bright blue light.  So you won't be hearing from me for a couple of days, starting Friday.  I should be back on Sunday....just in time for the Hermit's 'toons.
Since the 21st is the longest night perhaps you might light a candle or leave a light on to let the world know you honor the light that will be returning.  That is, if the world doesn't end (just kidding).  I think the Mayans just ran out of room on that stone.

Errands day

Ordinarily I would be at the gallery today but I got someone to cover for me today and I'll cover for her on the 24th.  I have a lot to do!  See, we celebrate the Winter Solstice in my house so I have family coming and must clean, clean, clean (ugh).  There are also plates of goodies to be delivered and some cooking to do.  You know how it is.  Grocery shopping comes in there as well as a visit to the vet, the dealership for maintenance on the van, the podiatrist for the yearly exam, etc., etc.  So it isn't like I have all day every day to clean and get stuff delivered.  It'll get done, though and I'll be ready when family arrives with friend in tow.  It's going to be interesting to watch the youngest (who will be two next month!) react to the tiny tree I'll put up and all the gifts, especially the ones the Holly King brings.  (Well we had to have some explanation other than Santa Claus.)
Y'all have a calm weekend and Merry ChrismaHannuKwanzaKa, Yule all.

Getting ready

It's Tuesday....the day my daughter comes to play.  Today will be gift wrapping day.  Everything for the kiddies was shipped here so there wouldn't be any spying about what the Holly King might bring.  We're also going to look for a stocking for the little one.....one of her own since big brother has his own.  As for me...everything is already wrapped since I didn't want daughter snooping either.  That which needed to be mailed has been.  I have two 4 ft trees..one for inside and one for outside for the birds.  I'm hoping to get everyone in the spirit by helping make a cranberry and popcorn garland for the outside tree.  No reason the birds and tree rats shouldn't share in the season.  Who know what other critters might participate.  If I can get some pine cones there'll be peanut butter and birdseed covered cones on the tree.  And the reason for such a small tree inside?  A two-year old who loves to climb and explore.  The tree will be placed on a table in front of the fireplace (it's too warm for a fire indoors and we'll have one outdoors) and a gate will be around it so she can't get to it.  Guess that means I'm pretty much prepared I guess.  Now all I have to do is clean, clean, clean.  Oh, and make meringues to distribute.
How are you faring?
Y'all have an exquisite day and remember....what doesn't kill you only delays the inevitable.

Customer NOservice

I decided that registereing my displeasure with their service by phone was not polite so I toddled over to the computer repair shop (Tek-Choice) to speak with the "tecnician" in person.  First I asked why I had Malware installed.  The answer?  "That's how I get rid of the viruses on your computer, ma'am". was the surly answer.  (I don't have any viruses on my computer! It gets scanned every day.) Okay then....I asked why they didn't look inside when I specifically said that it was possible that a lady beetle or two might have wandered in (don't laugh, it's possible).  "Do you want a refund?"  "No I would like an answer."  Once I had mentioned the word inside when they called to say they couldn't find anything wrong they checked and lo and behold there were little itty bitty pieces of black plastic and a brass cog-like thingy wandering around.  I have them in a baggy.  I started to ask why they didn't investigate the origins of said items when he walked away from me saying "Thank you."  to which I replied that I would not be using their services any more and that I would tell people about this experience.  I have the name and address of the CEO of the company and plan to write him a letter.  I'll be polite but will let him know that there will never be a recommendation from me for his company.  So now my CD drive doesn't work but I can't prove it was anything they did.  Looks like I'll be looking for a new repair person......sigh.
Y'all have a surprisingly great day.

Bad diagnostics.

I've been off the air, so to speak, for a few days since my computer was in the shop.  It had started making this terrible noise and I was afraid it might burst into flames or something.  The shop had it for a number of days and when the guy called he regretted to say that, although the machine had been left on, nothing happened.  I asked if they had looked INSIDE the computer.  Nope.  Geez.  Seems to me that if the noise is coming from INSIDE the computer one would look INSIDE.  Well, they looked inside and guess what?  They found some little itty bitty pieces of black plastic and a teeny, tiny brass cog-like thing.  Could that have been the cause of the noise?  Maybe....but now my CD drive doesn't work!  I'm calling them today to register my displeasure (to say the least) and let them know that I don't believe I'll be taking my computer to them anymore.  And when did I give them permission to install Malware software?  I didn't so I'll let them know I am unhappy about that, too.
It's good to be back and I've caught up reading all my favorite blogs.  Looks like I may have to invest in another computer or find someone who can fix this one without costing an arm and a leg or the price of a new one.  Oh, I forgot to mention that when I said my caps lock light didn't work I was told that it was part of the keyboard and therefore the keyboard would have to be replaced.  NOT!
Y'all have an interesting day......

Sick computer

I'm going to take my computer in to the 'puter doctor to see what's wrong with it.  About a week back it started making this horrific noise so I shut it down.  Thinking it might be the battery I removed it and things seemed fine.  Yesterday, however, I booted up for a second time around lunch time and it started again with the noise.  Guess it isn't the battery.  It wouldn't surprise me if lady beetles have gone inside to nest where it's warm.  I certainly have enough of those in the house.  Anyway, I may not be online for a few days.
Y'all have a good day and ask yourself:  What's another word for synonym?

Small Business Saturday

I'm sure you were inundated with ads and emails asking you to support your local small businesses yesterday.  I did not expect much at the gallery (yes we're small) since it was the day after black friday (no, I don't think those words deserve capitalization) and I was pretty sure most people had fallen for the hype.  Well, I was pleasantly surprised!  I was the only one keeping the doors open, so to speak, since our fearless leader was in Alabama doing a trunk show.  For the first couple of hours....no one.  Then in the afternoon a number of people came in and actually spent money!  Wait 'til J sees that tomorrow.  I'm hoping she'll call to ask if I stood out there on the road undressed (horrors) or something to draw people in.  Actually, the customers were people who had decided NOT to support China's economy or had been in before and seen something they liked but couldn't get it that day.  If you shop(ped) local and small, thank you.  You are the ones that will keep us going.
Y'all have a calm Sunday and remember:  If you want "perfect" go to MalWart.

Turkey day and after

It was a nice, laid back day at my daughter's.  Didn't do anything in particular except get the dinner ready and chit chat.  J showed me all the treasures gleaned from cleaning out a friend's abandoned house.  Some of the stuff they can use.  Other will be put on Craig's list.  My part in fixing dinner was to do the mashed potatoes.  For some reason my daughter likes the way I do them.  Cleaning up was my main contribution.
I'll be going in to the gallery today and my lunch will be a nice turkey sandwich.  Tonight I'll have the veggies and whatever turkey wasn't used in the sandwich for dinner.  There's just something about a turkey sandwich the day after that completes the holiday.
Black Friday will have to go on without my help.  I can't believe the behavior that goes on.  Bunch of blooming idiots in my opinion.  And it now starts even earlier!  Who the heck wants to go shopping on Thanksgiving?  I guess wives whose husbands are glued to the football games on TV.  The mall and Walmart will not see me until after New Year's day.  It's the reason I do my shopping throughout the year.  Or online.
Y'all have a nice post-turkey day and remember:  Now Santa Claus is coming to town.

Yes, I'm thank full

This is the traditional day to give thanks for everything we have.  The first one wasn't in November, of course.  I believe it was old Abe Lincoln that decreed that this holiday would be the last Thursday of November.  Guess we wouldn't have black Friday otherwise.   Speaking of which, I'm thankful I don't participate, having done all my shopping during the year.  I'd list everything I'm thank full for but it would take up too many pages.  Let's just say I'm thank full for everything in my life, both good and bad.  Good because that makes life worthwhile.  Bad because of the lessons learned.  Luckily I have more good than bad.
I wish everyone a blessed day.  Don't eat too much and may the football games keep you awake.

Reading

I always enjoy reading my favorite blogs in the morning.  I don't write much 'cause there really isn't much to write about.  I try to keep busy doing different things but sometimes that's just not enough.  I go on a cruise in February just to get out of the gray, dull weather.  My seratonin level is at its lowest then and my body craves sunshine and warmth.  It's not that the winters here are that long, they aren't.  It's just the short, often gray days that get to me.  I save up for those trips and enjoy every minute.  When I get back I know that spring isn't too far away.  Also I get in my once a year visit with my brother.  We have never been close but do keep in touch from time to time.  I've tried talking my sister into going with me but she doesn't like to be away from home for any length of time.....sigh.  We aren't close either.  Mine was what is known as a "dysfunctional" family.
Every once in a while, when the weather is particularly nasty for a day or two, I get a bad case of the blahs.  Recognizing it for what it is I simply accept the fact that I won't get anything done around the house.  Most times I curl up on my recliner with my "blankie" and a good read.  My cat often curls up with me and the only time I get up is to either let her out/in, use the facilities, or get another cup of tea.  The feeling goes away and I get on with my life.  I'm sure there are some of you out there in the great big blue nowhere that go through somewhat the same.  I'm lucky I recognize and get through it and hope that those in similar circumstances can too.
Y'all have a cozy day and remember:  despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Vote!

It's voting day.  I won't say for whom I'm voting.......it's none of your business.  Both main candidates are, to put it mildly, liars.  Neither will give this country what it needs nor get it back to where it should be.  Yes, I feel one is worse than the other.  I won't say who because I don't care to get sworn at.  You are totally entitled to your opinion as am I and let's leave it at that.  The main thing is that I have the opportunity to vote because I am a U.S. citizen and those that aren't shouldn't be able to.  I'll wait until tomorrow to find out the results.  No sense in keeping the talking heads talking since all their hot air is just that.  So, it's onward and upward in a day full of things to do.
Y'all have a good day and VOTE!

Cat Show

I've never been to a cat show.  When I was working the sewing expo in March at the civic center I happened to see a flyer on a cat show.  The flyer has been on my fridge for months and today I'm going to pick up my daughter and we're going to see lots of cats as well as the latest in cat toys and other stuff.  I'm looking forward to seeing the different breeds.  There will be cats to adopt as well, but I already have one and that's enough for me.  It should be an enjoyable few hours.  Then we'll enjoy lunch.
Y'all have an enjoyable day and remember:  dogs have masters, cats have servants.

The day of the dead

Today many people are celebrating the day of the dead.  For whatever reason this doesn't seem to be frowned upon so much by the church whereas Hallowe'en is.  Yesterday was the day it is believed by some of us that the veil between the worlds is the thinnest and that those who have passed before us should be remembered.  I spent the evening in town helping hand out candy to all those who chose to walk the sidewalks in front of all the businesses.  The churches were doing their own thing calling it Fall Festival or Trunk or Treat (?).  I got into costume and enjoyed (for the most part) seeing all the costumes people chose to put on their young ones.  I do have to question why parents think their infants or toddlers need to be out and about getting candy.  Is it really for the kid?  I don't think so.  Some of the little ones were just plain confused.  Some people even had their pooches in costume.  Good grief.  Well, blessed be those who passed before us, those who are with us, and those who are waiting to be.
Bright blessings to you all.

Batten down the hatches

It looks like a number of folks are battening down the hatches in case Sandy arrives.  I don't blame them.  I've been through a few in past years and these storms can be devastating.  It's been a while since storms of this nature have hit New England.  Irene was certainly a surprise.  At least now folks get some kind of warning.  I wasn't around yet when the '38 hurricane hit up North (they didn't have names back then) but I have pictures of the results.  Same with Carol (pictures).  I'd been visiting my aunt in Virginia and we returned to RI by train, following Carol.  The folks up North didn't have any warning for the one in '38 and it hit at high tide.  Many a fisherman found his boat inland, high and dry. You can still see watermarks high up on some of the buildings in Providence, RI.  Hopefully Sandy won't be like Irene and will die a peaceful death somewhere out in the Atlantic.  Mother Nature appears to be flexing her muscles, letting us know just who's in charge.  To those who may be affected I wish safety.  Blessed be.

Georgia Quilt show

It was a long day helping hang quilts at the quilt show today.  My feet hurt!  They don't get along well with concrete floors and we did a LOT of walking and, at one point, a lot of going up and down ladders.  The best part was getting to see all the quilts.  All I can say is OMG!!  There are some that are absolutely mind boggling they are so beautiful.  There were only two that I didn't think should be there.  Also, one of our own quilt guild members has a quilt hanging, albeit a small one.  Good for her.  I don't think I have the talent (or nerve) to think I could have a quilt in a show.
Tomorrow is going to be less work and more pleasure.  I get to sit in our booth and sell tickets to our "opportunity" quilt which consists of hand-dyed fabric, is hand appliqued and hand quilted.  To say it's stunning would be an understatement.  And no I don't have a picture of it.  I'll try to get one.  Then I'll work the information booth.  Friday and Saturday it's more of the same except I'll be helping take down quilts at the end of the show.  Hey, it keeps me out of trouble and maybe the activity will help me keep off the pounds I might gain by eating out every day.
Y'all have a good evening....I'm going to have a glass of wine and put my feet up.

Quilt show

I'll be busy these next few days.  The Georgia Quilt Show starts Thursday and I'll be helping set up tomorrow.  Although I'll be working I'll be enjoying as well.  During the time I have off I think I'll get Christmas shopping done (ugh, to think of that already!).  I need to get that done now as I refuse to go to the malls or evil empire (Walmart) after Thanksgiving.  And since I'll be staying practically next door to a mall that actually has a couple of stores that carry things I can get for kids, hey, why not take advantage now instead of later?
The show is on through Saturday and I'll be there every day.  I'll get to see lots and lots of fabric (drool) as well as beautiful quilts, notions, etc.  Of course I'm going to spend some money!
Y'all have a loverly day and remember:  contrary to popular belief, no one owes you anything.

Monday, October 8, 2012

It's WW Monday and I'll get to see if my weight is within 2 pounds of goal weight.  If I can maintain that for the next 6 weeks I won't have to pay!  And I only have to go weigh in once a month.  I've tried to be good this last week but haven't exercised probably as much as I should.
Daughter is coming up today instead of tomorrow as my friend Jaymi has an eye doctor appointment and her husband can't go with her, so I'm going instead.  Afterwards we are driving over to Marietta to deliver some pottery pieces to a customer.  While it looks to be a long day, that's okay.  I volunteered for it.
Cooler weather appears to have settled in.  It was only 52 this morning when I got up.  The leaves are turning and pretty soon the trees will be bare.  Wish I had a leaf blower.  Maybe the gent who does the mowing has one.  I'll have to ask him.  I'm willing to pay a little extra for him to blow the leaves into piles around their respective trees.
Guess I'd better get amove on.  Must child-proof the living area.  Y'all have a delicious day and remember:  A=A.

Wet

After two whole days of steady, heavy rain it looks like the sun may come out today and dry things out a bit.  My driveway has a mini creek running its length.  It's good though since the rain seems to have raised the level of the pond.  Of course I'll have to go down and see just how much and if the level rose high enough to reach the overflow pipe.  I'll do that tomorrow since I'll be going in to the gallery today.  There was thunder and lightning last night.  Not steady, though.  Kinda strange, just here and there.  I didn't get to sleep until after 2 so am dragging somewhat this morning.
The leaves on the trees are beginning to turn.  Feels like fall is here.  Cool weather has begun as well as shorter days.
My cat decided that it would be a good idea to use me as a pillow.  I tolerated it as long as I could then I just had to roll over to get her off.   She stayed with me all night, though, and made sure some part of her was touching me.  Strange.  Wonder if she knows something I don't?
Y'all have a tremendous day and .....think positive, it might surprise you.

Daughter visit

Daughter is coming up today and bringing the kids.  Hopefully we can keep them busy.  If the day is nice I'll suggest the park.  They seem to like it there.  It's always nice to have K visit.  I really appreciate it when we have a day to ourselves.  I miss that.  Before she gets her I'll have some picking up to do.
Ordered some heirloom seeds yesterday.  May order more.  Some veggies, some herbs.  I really liked the pear tomatoes, they just keep on comin'.  I'll have to find a way to preserve them.
Speaking of seeds I gathered some old-fashioned hollyhock seeds and will try to get them to grow next year.  The plants were outside the gallery and were volunteers.  Because they seem to enjoy the shade more than full sun I'll plant them on the north side of the house and see what happens.  I have a LOT of zinnia seed heads which I'll be sharing with friends.  These zinnias were amazing.  Some were taller than my 5'8".  Wonder what would happen if I scattered seeds in a section of my land that doesn't get mowed?  I'm going to give it a try.  I have Cosmos seeds I can scatter also.
Well, y'all have a productive day and remember:  live.

Made it through

I made it through yesterday without buying any fabric!  Or notions!  Wow.  I did, however, purchase a couple of stocking stuffers for my grandson.  I shop early.  My friend and I had a very pleasant and delicious lunch which she was kind enough to pay for in return for me driving.  It was a good day and my friend was able to vent (I usually let her do all the talking since she doesn't really have anyone).  We visited the two quilt shops.  She bought yarn for making slippers (yes, one of the shops sells yarn as well as fabric, a most dangerous combination) as well as fabric to back a quilt some senior citizens have made to raise money.  After lunch we mosied around the square checking out some of the shops.  Shoes were a big item on her agenda, it seems.  She bought three pair and it only took an hour!  Then it was on to another shop so she could get some long-sleeved t-shirts.  That didn't take any time at all.  The drive home was uneventful.  I dropped her off at her house and went to the market to get some much needed items (of course, I forgot the shampoo).  All in all a good day even though my ears were tired.
Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember.....someone out there needs you.

Shopping trip

It's Saturday and that usually means a day at home getting some things done.  Not today.  Around 10:00 I'm picking up a friend who didn't want to go fabric shopping alone.  She wanted to drive, I told her no way (she slower than a snail and talks constantly while gesturing).  I have to have a lot of patience when with her which is a lot easier when there are just the two of us.  When there are other people I'd like to converse with it's very difficult.  Also she has one of those voices.  You know, like fingernails on a blackboard?  She is a nice person and I'm glad she considers me a friend.  She has taught me a lot about tolerance.
Back to fabric shopping.  It's like taking a kid into a candy store and saying go for it.  I do not need any more fabric, however.......I know I'll see some I fall in love with and just have to have.  This is not a good thing.  The Georgia ,Quilt Show is coming up in three weeks and I'll be there all three days.  Sooooooooo much fabric!  And notions, must not forget the notions.  Sigh....I'm doomed.  I cannot tell you how many unfinished projects I have or how many kits and patterns I just couldn't live without.  Hopefully, keeping in mind that I have to save lots for a special trip in 2014, I'll refrain from bringing home lots of stuff I don't need.
Y'all have a productive day and remember:  he who dies with the most toys.....is still dead.

Deluge

Rain...lots and lots of rain.  Not gentle.  Nope.  A regular deluge that made going back to sleep this morning impossible (my room is right under the roof).  We need it, though.  The pond is lower than normal and the main pond in the community is really low.  The silly cat wanted to go out so I let her out the back door.  Although I haven't heard from her I don't think she'll stay out long.
It's quilt guild day and daughter is coming up to join me there.  A nice day together without kids.  I think she deserves at least one day a month without them.  Don't know if she can stay later but if she can we may go to the local knit shop and visit for a while.
Y'all have a glorious day and remember:  believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see.

Fun at the park

Yesterday daughter brought up her cargo trailer to park it in the yard for the winter.  The kids were with her so I thought it would be cool to take them out to lunch and, since it was a very nice day, go to the park so the kids could play.  The place where we had lunch has just opened and it's great.  Real soda fountain drinks (of which I had one Friday night) and good sandwiches....not just hamburgers and hot dogs.  After lunch we took the kids to the local park.  My grandson soon found a boy his age to hang with and my granddaughter was happy to play on the small slide.  After about an hour it began to feel just a tad too warm and daughter had to get home since a friend was coming to visit her so we called it a day.  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of granddaughter on the slide (she's 19 months old) not only going down but learning to climb back up.  I wouldn't have been surprised if daughter told me that both kids slept on the way home.  The highlight of the afternoon?  My granddaughter taking my hand and having me go down the slide with her.
Y'all have a loverly day.

Slicing

Day before yesterday I was slicing apples to dehydrate using a kitchen mandolin.  It has no guard.  I now sport a bandage on my right index finger where I took off a small chunk.  I'll be lookong for something to use as a guard before I use the mandolin again.
Daughter and enfants are coming up today so I have to move some things around so the little one can't get 'em.  It'll be nice to see them and I hope it's nice out so we can stay outside...maybe go to the park.
Y'all have an interesting day.

Goin' with the "girls"

Won't be going into the gallery today.  I'm taking the day off and going up to Franklin, NC with some of the ladies from the quilt guild.  It's the monthly birthday girls trip to a couple of quilt shops up there as well as having a lovely lunch.  The neat thing is is if it is your birthday month you get a significant discount on anything you purchase at one of the shops (the discount equals half your age).  The other shops gives a simple discount to everyone.  I don't really need any fabric but, of course, one never knows what new designs are out there.  D and I will be stopping at a couple of other places on the way home.  I want to get a ginormous skein of yard wound into a ball and the yarn shop up there has an amazing winder (it's motorized!) and can wind very large skeins.  The one I have may be a challenge though since it's about 2,000 yards.  Imagine trying to wind a skein of yarn that's over a mile in length!  My arms would fall off.
We had a very nice reception at the gallery last evening.  I was good and stayed away from the fattening stuff and drank tea instead of wine.  Sometimes I wonder why I bother but then I realize that if I want the weight to stay off......
One of the artists is a lady in her 80's.  She has had an amazing artistic journey.  She painted, made beaded jewelry, made pine needle baskets, wove fabric, quilted.  Sounds kinda like my travels in the art world.  Mine aren't as extensive as hers but if I keep going......
I need to get a move on if I'm going to be ready when D comes to pick me up.  Y'all have a gorgeous day and forgive your enemies....it messes up their heads.

Going to the nut house.

I'm picking up my friend Jaymi (she's the fearless director of the gallery I'm always mentioning) later this morning and we're going to Franklin.  We'll have lunch and wander around downtown to see what there is to see.  I've not been able to do that when with the quilting gals as there is a set route we take and quilt shops we stop at.  Usually there isn't enough time to just window shop, etc.  Sooooo.  And on the way home we'll stop at what Jaymi calls the nut house.  It's really a shop named A Room Full of Nuts.  There one can find just about every nut there is in existence and then some.  Also found are chocolate covered fruits, dried fruits, etc.  I loooooove the dark chocolate covered cranberries.  Good for the soul but not the waistline.  The store carries lots of gluten free products.  One of my favorites that Jaymi's daughter introduced me to is Blue Diamond Pecan (or Walnut) crackers.  Yum!
Hey, I'm not trying to advertise anything here, just letting you know of some things that I like at a store I don't get to too often.  There's a lot more I could tell you about but I just wanted to mention my favorites.
I like going on adventures with Jaymi.  We have fun and get to talk.
Read a short article this morning about a teenager who died when he stuck his head out of a roof hatch on a party bus and his head hit the overpass.  The teens had been warned on numerous occasions not to fool with the hatch, but apparently this guy thought he didn't have to listen.  While I feel sorry for his family, maybe it served as a lesson to the others.
Y'all have a safe weekend and remember:  stupidity kills, just not often enough.

Testing....

Yesterday daughter came up with the kids.  It was time to give my grandson the dreaded third grade apptitude test.  I didn't realize she would be bringing the Sprout along so wasn't quite prepared with gate, etc.  Daughter did a great job of administering and Bird did a great job of taking.  It was, basically, an all day ordeal.  The good thing about the test is that it shows where Bird needs more work, such as math.
As for me, I tried my best to keep the Sprout occupied.  For the most part I think I succeeded.  While she didn't run me ragged, she did keep me occupied trying to find ways to keep her occupied.  I set up a card table with a blanket over it so she could have a "house"....I think she needs to be a bit older for that to work.  At any rate, I was quite tired when they finally left, after I jumped daughter's van because she accidentally left her lights on.  Went to bed early and made sure I got a good night's sleep.
Y'all have a productive day and .......learn something new, it'll keep your brain alive.

Time has stopped

There are two clocks that irk me.  One is in Helen and the other in Clarkesville.  When I drive into Helen to get to the gallery the clock is one of the first things I see.  It's always 26 minutes after 1.  The one in Clarkesville (it's on the courthouse) is always at 22 minutes after 4.  Yes, I know, they're right at least twice a day.  It just seems to me that by not fixing them the two places are telling people they don't care.  The one in Clarkesville shows different times on each of the four faces but I haven't paid enough attention to those to remember what time they show.  And I've only seen the one face on the one in Helen.  I just wish the ptb would give a hint that they care about first impressions.
'Nuff said.  Y'all have a pleasing day and remember:  the older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for (Will Rogers).

Lots to do

It's Saturday and I have a lot to do.  I won't bore you with the list but it includes laundry and house cleaning and grocery shopping.
Cat let me sleep in a bit this morning.  Woke up with a headache.  Don't know what that's all about.  Guess if I want to get anything done I'd better get going.

Bah!

I'm tired of the snipe and hype.  Bet there'll be enough hot air at the conventions to launch a hot air balloon.  Will be glad when the elections are over.

Daughter's coming up today sans enfants.  We're going to quilt guild.  Then I'm going to get her to teach me some stuff about my phone and how to get rid of some of the blogs I don't follow anymore.  Trying to get rid of blogs has not been made easy.  Wonder why.
Hermit Jim has written that his kitty cat is missing and has been for a week.  Maybe it's out tomming, maybe not.  Hopefully Jim will get him back or at least find out what happened.  I've had a cat go walkabout and it's upsetting not knowing.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.
Went to visit a couple yesterday that live out in the middle of nowhere.  She sells lace weight yarn on Etsy and showed us the different weights, colours, etc.  She's also written a book which is quite an accomplishment in itself.  And can she knit!  Some of her yarn is as thin as spider web silk.  I'm trying to talk her into coming to the gallery to play.  I told her she didn't have to join.  She also teaches Japanese embroidery.  We got to see some of it and all I can say is WOW.  I could never do it.  The time it takes to finish one piece is too much time for me.
Well, y'all have an interesting day.  Learn something new, try something new.  Put a little spice in your life.

This 'n' that

Cat let me sleep an extra hour this morning.  Woke up with a headache.  Must be from the change in weather.  Rained during the night, may rain today.  Going to the other gallery to put in my time.  Lots of motorcycle folks in Helen this weekend.  Lots of vroom, vroom noise.  Finished up the delicious pears my neighbor brought.  Now have more nice peaches and a great cantaloupe.  Have to take advantage of fresh fruit when it's available.
Y'all have a good day and stay calm....the poo-poo hasn't hit the oscillator yet.

and Nonsense

It's Friday, holy carp!  Been a while since I've done anything here.  Maybe that's because there hasn't been much to say.  Things at the gallery have been slooooooow.  J and I were talking the other day about whether or not to stay open in January (we close the month of February since we travel then) and decided not to since this last January was a bust.  I figure it'll give me time to get some sewing, etc. done.
The cat continues to be my alarm clock.  Doesn't matter that it might be a morning I could sleep in, oh no.  At any time between 6:30 and 7:00 it's "Wake up Mommy!" time.  Most times she jumps on my lower belly which, of course, is where my full bladder is.  So far I have refrained from throwing her off the bed.  Mostly I just roll over to get her off me.  So then she jumps on my hip.  Meowing all the time naturally.  Eventually I move, indicating that she has won, and I'll get up.  Actually it's my bladder that makes me get up.  The only advantage to all of this is that I can get on the 'puter for a while before really starting the day.
Y'all have a go-get-'em day and remember:  it's hard to be nostaligic when you can't remember anything.

Saturday, August 11, 2012

It sure did rain a lot last night.  Some thunder and lightning along with it.  Foggy out there this morning.  Guess I'll still be going to the winery for second saturday set up.  Don't know how well anyone will do.  It's supposed to clear up and be sunny a little later.  One can only hope.
Had my three month check-up on Thursday.  My a1C was up a little and it looks like I've put on a couple of pounds (not good!).  I'm disheartened.  Dr. has put me on another injectable - not insulin - so we'll see if that helps.  I can still get into size 10's but they are snug.  I will NOT go back to wearing size 14's.  I need some self-discipline and need to exercise more.  Somehow I will make it happen.  Enough with oh woe is me....
Y'all have a marvelous weekend.

Stuff

Good news....daughter doesn't need glasses!  A little near sightedness in one eye and that's it.  The doc said he wished his vision was as good.  Glad to hear since that's one expense I don't have to worry about.
I was asked what a soap sock is.  Sharon, it's a crocheted bag with a drawstring that you put those soap bits in when you can't use them anymore.  That way you can really use up the soap and scrub yourself at the same time.  You can hang it on the faucet to keep it handy.  Cool, huh?
Off to the gallery today.  Think I'll try to get some more knitting dones.  Been working on a couple of scarves.  Then I may try to come up with some ideas for Christmas (groan).
Need to get started on saving the pears I was given.  Haven't seen that many in a loooong time.  Better start slicing, drying and freezing.
Y'all have a glamorous day and remember....organized people are just too lazy to look for things.

Meanderings

Taking daughter to get her eyes checked today.  Age and diabetes can affect vision subtly and she has mentioned a change in hers.  Would that her boyfriend would get a damn job and help with these expenses.  Sigh.....
It's been thundering this morning.  Looks like a gray day.  I slept in an extra 45 minutes this morning.  Even the cat didn't insist I get up.
Daughter brought the little one up yesterday afternoon and we played with her outside for a bit before coming in from the heat.  Sprout interacts with me more now which can be fun.  She even let me help her put her shoes on.  Daughter is coming along nicely with her knitting.  I asked her to crochet me another soap sock as I need one for the downstairs bath.
Got the tag for the "new" van.  Didn't cost much since the ad valorem tax was included in the purchase price (I reckon).  Gonna get a regular tag for my van when the time comes since the governor changed the rules regarding vanity tags.  At first you only had to pay extra the on time.  Now it's every year.  Sooooo, although the state won't lose much from me, it will lose that income.  I'd be willing to bet that if everyone reverted to regular tags, well.........
Y'all have an interesting day and remember:  every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to someone at the expense of others.

Monday, August 6, 2012

One of my neighbors called yesterday evening asking if I'd like some pears.  Of course I said yes.  So he brought some by.  A whole carton of them!  Looks like I'll be doing some dehydrating.  These pears are delicious....nothing like the nearly tasteless ones you find in the market.  I think I'm going to have to give some away since there are sooooo many.  My daughter is coming up tomorrow so I'll give some to her and then take some in to the gallery.  Wish I could share them with all of you so you could enjoy them as much as I will.
Started another basket yesterday.  Of course I don't have the right size reed to finish it.  It's on order now.  If I can get enough made, maybe I can attempt to sell some.  They'll make nice gifts, too.
Well, need to get a move on.  WW today, as well as getting a tag for the van.  Other stuff to do.
Y'all have an interesting day and remember.....it isn't always what it seems to be.

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Man, did it rain last night!  It sounded like it wanted to come through the roof.  We had a good light show as well.  This morning is gray and damp so I guess I'll try to get some things done around the house and get a basket going.  I'm not a housekeeper so there are plenty of cobwebs and dust.  I think one could write a novel in the dust that's accumulated.
Am trying to dry some figs.  I attempted the first batch according to the directions that came with the dehyrator.  Guess they were referring to huge figs.  I quarted them as directed and they shrank to about the size of my little finger nail.  This time I'm attempting to dry them whole.  There are plenty more on the tree if this experiment doesn't work out and the birds and squirrels don't eat them.  I don't mind them getting the ones I can't reach on top, but would be happy if they left the ones on the lower branches alone.  Sometimes experimenting is the way one learns, yes?
Picked the first okra yesterday.  Only one.  I don't have many plants so this will go in the freezer until I have more.  I may even give a try frying some at some point.  I've only recently found that fried okra can be pretty good.  Never mind the stewed stuff......ew.  I still have some pear tomatoes on the tomato plants that need to be picked.  I sure did get a lot of those!  But they are yummy so I think maybe I'll try to go some next year, too.  Other veggies I may try....green beans, peas, squash.
Y'all have a glorious day and believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Had a really good time with daughter yesterday at the gem show.  We found a bonanza of, of all things, sarongs!  I did find some findings and some beads that I can use to make earrings.  Ironically there is a bead show in three weeks not far from here.  I'll go to that also since it's time to start thinking about making things for Christmas.  At any rate, daughter now has sarongs to make clothes with and it didn't cost me as much as it would have if I had ordered online.  Another plus was we found a lot that we've never been able to find!  I should have asked where the dealer got them from.  Oh well, I can't order as many as the dealers do.
It's strange, some of the stuff we find at the 'gem' show.
Y'all have a peaceful day and.......mind wandering, back soon.

Saturday, July 28, 2012

Daughter is coming up today and we are going to the gem show.  Don't think I'll buy anything, but you never know.  And it's a day without kids for her.
Picked up a used Astro van yesterday.  It looks like new and has very low mileage.  Why did I get it?  Astro vans rock!  They last forever when taken care of, are comfortable to ride in and make good campers (just take out the third set of seats, put in an air mattress and, voila).  I wish Chevrolet would make them again.  I also like riding up high.  I can see over the cars in front of me, giving me an advantage regarding what's going on.
Have to scoot.  Daughter is coming up soon and I need to get ready.  Y'all have a handsome day and remember.....handsome is as handsome does.

Sunday, July 22, 2012

My son is coming up to visit today and I'm looking forward to it.  We don't get together all that often as he is busy with work and family.  Now that wife and kids are in England he's playing temporary bachelor until he goes over at the end of August for a week or two and then I think they're all returning together.
The rain was quite heavy yesterday afternoon.  I have some deeper ruts in my driveway.  At least they'll discourage unwanted visitors.  Must get out to clean out the ditches so the water can run where it's supposed to.  Maybe this morning or late afternoon.  If it doesn't rain again, that is.
Well, guess that's enough drivel.  Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember:  eventually you reach a point where you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Computer's back from the shop.  They couldn't find anything really wrong.  Just cleaned it up a bit.  Guess if things start to go downhill again I'll call the satellite company and request a new modem.
Daughter is back home from her trip to Ohio.  She'll be coming up tonight to spend the night and spend the day here tomorrow.  It'll be good to see her.  I'm thinking maybe we might watch "Mama Mia" tonight.  A definite chick flick but very fun and light.  Meryl Streep is one talented lady.
Took an all day knitting class yesterday.  I learned quite a bit of new stuff and am glad I took it even though I won't use what I've learned until after I finish my current project (which is going to take quite a bit of time).
Kept the cat in the house yesterday since I played with Roundup and didn't want her getting any on her.  I have been having a hard time seeing the PVC pipe down at the pond due to grass growth so I went down yesterday morning and treated with R in hopes that it will alleviate the problem.  The day before was much the same only for the path that leads down to the arbor.  I've been trying to get out early each morning to get weeding done while it's still cool.
That's all the boring stuff from me.  Y'all have a kind day and ask yourself.....how old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

My main computer is in the shop.  I'm using Minimom this morning.  So, it isn't Facebook.  It's the computer, or rather, the security installed.  I think it overstepped its bounds.  I haven't had any trouble with this 'puter so it has to be that.  I told the gent in the shop to do what needed to be done to clean up the security, delete it if need be, install a different one.  There's a lot I can't do on this one 'cause the screen is so small so will be delighted to get my other one back.  Meantwhile I'll try to keep up with email, etc.
Y'all have a good one......

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Does anyone out there know what the heck is going on with Facebook?  I haven't been able to get on for two days now.  I keep getting the message that neither computer can connect with their server.  (My laptop which has Microsoft and my iPad, which has Safari) .What's with that?  I'll try again later.
Meanwhile, yesterday was pretty much a bust.  I sold one item and my friend sold one item.  The total didn't quite cover the booth fee.  Don't know how successful we were in sending folks to the gallery.  I'll find that out Monday when I take stuff back.  Sigh.
Y'all have a quiet day ....

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Haven't written in a while.  Haven't had anything to say.  I'm hoping the sun comes out today.  We've had quite a bit of rain these past few days.  This is second Saturday at the Habersham Winery and I'll be setting up, representing the gallery.  That's why I hope the sun comes out.  Right now it's pretty gray out there.  Since my daughter won't be with me I had to recruit another volunteer from the gallery.  Hope she brings something to keep herself occupied 'cause it can be boring sitting there hoping for customers or, at the very least, people coming up to look.  I'll be steering them to the gallery since our guest artist this month will be there.  He is a native Mexican indian from the Chichimeca tribe (I hope I spelled that correctly) and will be at the gallery in the full regalia he wears to dance at pow-wows.
Y'all have a nice day and remember:  No matter how bad your day seems, someone out there has to clean the bathrooms at Walmart.

Sunday, July 8, 2012

I'm back from my visit with my friends in TN.  It was a very pleasant few days and very restful.  My last night there a wicked storm came up.  Luckily there's a ridge behind the house and that protected us mostly from the wild wind.  There were others not so lucky.  When I drove home I saw that the road to Cades Cove was closed.  If you saw or read the news you know why.
Yesterday I got out into the yard and did a bunch of work before it got too hot.  Need to do more but think I'll wait 'til tomorrow since I'm volunteering somewhere today and have some things around the house that can get done before I go.  Hopefully when I do go out tomorrow I remember to put on bug repellent.  I have bites all over my upper right arm and even found a tick that dropped off my arm to the arm of my chair.
Well, y'all have a good day and smile a lot.  It'll make people wonder what you're up to.

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Gonna be another hot one.  When I let the cat out before 7 this morning it was already 80 on the front porch, in the shade.  I was able to get some work done yesterday even though the sweat started almost immediately after I stepped outside.  The rest of the day was spent inside and I was very thankful for air conditioning.  Think I'll stay inside again today and maybe get some sewing done.
Will be travelling to TN tomorrow to visit friends.  Will be there for 4 days to celebrate the 4th.  I've known these folks for some time now and love to visit.  They have a home half way up a ridge and their view is fantastic.  It's become a yearly visit and I'm going to miss it when it can't happen anymore.  We are all getting older and my friend V has incurable cancer.  Treatments are keeping her alive.  Her spirits are good.  She let her doctor know that she just wants to stay alive because she needs to look after her husband who now has no short term memory.  Luckily he's aware of it and has accepted the fact.  He does not have Alzheimer's.  If V goes first I don't know what will happen to J.  Hopefully their daughter will step in to help.  At any rate, I'm going to enjoy their company while I can.
Y'all have a safe 4th and remember.....freedom is not free.

Saturday, June 30, 2012

It isn't just hot, it's bloody hot.  Up into the triple digits yesterday and it looks like that's going to happen again today and tomorrow with no relief in sight.  Geesh, you'd think I live in the south or something.  All I can say is bless whoever invented air conditioning.  I remember going through summers without it and am glad I don't have to do so now.
Y'all have a good day and.....stay cool.

Controversy here

Where in the Constitution does it say that health care is a right?  What right does the Supreme Court have to say that all MUST have health care?  I'm paying enough now just to keep myself healthy as well as those family members who need medication, so why should I let the PTB take more money from me just so some illegal alien or druggie, etc. can get treated without paying for it?  We are losing our rights, people, so you better wake up and do something about it come November.

Monday, June 25, 2012

Have WW today.  Just can't seem to lose those last few pounds.  Guess I'd better up the exercise.  Maybe if I work outside I can sweat them off.  Haven't been doing much in the exercise department because of this darn cold or whatever infection I have.  The cough medicine makes me want to sleep so I only take it at night.  I have too much to do during the day.  Speaking of which, I'm doing some machine embroidery for a lady who owns a shop and I want to get it finished today so I'd best get going.
Y'all have a thoughtful day and remember Ben.

Sunday, June 24, 2012

It's a beautiful morning so I think I'll go out and play in the yard.  There are some thorny bushes trying to take over the front stairs.
Y'all have a loverly day and remember.....if life is just a bowl of cherries, you'd better watch out for the pits.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Today is a day I look forward to but hate to see the other side of.  Today is the longest day of the year.  More hours of sunlight and, luckily, the sun shines today.  The reason I don't like to see the other side of it is because the days start getting shorter.  While not a sun worshipper per se I prefer it to night.  I could never live in Alaska, though, especially in the winter.  Yes, there's lots of sun in the summer, but the winters would be terrible.  I understand people up there use black-out curtains on their windows in the summer so they can sleep.  I think I'd have to have sun lamps on during the winter.  Besides, I don't do cold.
At any rate I plan to enjoy this day as best I can and try not to sleep it away as I seem to be doing of late.  Don't know why but I don't like it.  I'm not getting things done.  I'll be taking some B-12 with me to the gallery as it's one of my days to be there.
Y'all enjoy this nice long day and remember:  if you are reading this you are on this side of the grass.

Friday, June 15, 2012

Had a nice time at the basket weavers' guild and joined.  Started a basket but only got the bottom done because of time constraints and the fact that I needed to measure and cut reed.  Will work on it this evening and probably finish it tomorrow.  Might even take a picture of it and post it.
Was at the gallery yesterday and finished up yet another scarf.  I think that'll do it for scarves for now.  I also finished the chain I was making for Jaymi for her angel pendant.
Still have the cough but not quite as bad.  The cough medicine is doing its thing but I have to be careful with it.  I don't take any during the day.  If I did I wouldn't be able to do anything but sleep and I have too many things I need to get done.  Even the 1/2 tsp kicks butt.
Well, need to get a move on.  Y'all have a wonder-filled weekend and..........

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

It isn't the cough that'll carry me off, it's the coffin they carry me off in.  That's what my dad used to say the few times he ever had a cold.  Then he'd say he had too much blood in his alcohol system.
I've had this cough going on 5 days.  I finally broke down and went to the doctor to get some REALLY good cough medicine.  Apparently whatever it is that makes me think I'm going to cough up a lung is going around.  My lungs, according to him, are clear.  I'm not coughing up blood (or anything, for that matter)....just a dry, hacking cough.  Soooo, he asked me if I want the good stuff or the REALLY good stuff.  I opted, of course, for the REALLY good stuff.  You are only supposed to take 1/2 to 1 teaspoonful twice a day.  I'll take 1/2 in the morning so I can function during the day and a full teaspoon at night so I can sleep.  The stuff gives me weird dreams.  I have lots to get accomplished so I need to be able to function during the day even if it means I sound like I'm trying to cough up a lung.
Okay, nuff said about that.
Tomorrow I travel to a little place in NC called Shooting Creek.  I'm going to the basket guild meeting and will be making a basket.  How cool is that?  I'm beginning to get the basket-making bug.  I figure I may as well learn something new since nothing else I've made is selling these days and baskets are useful.
Need to get a move on.  Even though I'm moving only at half speed I can still get some things done today.  Y'all have a clear day and remember what doesn't kill you only delays the inevitable.

Monday, June 11, 2012

Rained yesterday, rained last night, looks like it's going to rain again today.  Bleh.  Did get some sewing done yesterday as well as finishing my Christmas gift for my sister.  Guess I'll return tables, etc. to the gallery today.  We did have some sales on Saturday and people did visit the gallery on our suggestion, so the day was not a waste.  It's difficult to know what people are going to buy.  So far my daughter has had the sales....her sarong shirts.  People around here haven't seen them in the stores so they pique their interest.  Especially the younger folk.  We did sell an artist's cards so some of those will come with us again next time.  Will get more sewing done today.  The house may need cleaning but I'm not in the mood.  I'll let the dust rhinos run rampant temporarily.  Let the cat chase them.
Y'all have a decent day and wrinkled is not one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up, but then again, why grow up?

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Woke up to the sound of rain.  Hope the sun comes out 'cause if daughter comes up with the kids it would be nice if they (the kids) could gallivant outside for a while.  We could even take them over to the park to play.  Or not.
Had a busy, yet not much accomplished, kind of day yesterday.  Ran errands and did some machine embroidery as well as some other stuff.  Seems like time just gets by me and before I know it it's time for dinner.  Ho hum.
Y'all have a productive day and remember....you're never too old for naptime.

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Yesterday was such a beautiful day!  And today looks like a carbon copy.  Unfortunately I'll be inside all afternoon as a friend and I will be "manning" the desk at the other art gallery.  I did manage to get some weeding done yesterday.  Had to brace one of the tomato cages in the garden as the plant had gotten so huge the weight tipped the cage over.  Looks like I'm going to have lots of 'maters.  Going to have some nice hot peppers, too.  Those plants are up on the porch so I can see the progress every day.  The lone tomato plant (the one I call zombi tomato) has a flower on it so we'll see.  The zombi pepper plant looks like it may have a green pepper started.  Hope springs eternal.
Y'all have a glorious day and remember....money cannot buy happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle.

Friday, June 1, 2012

The hot air balloons are supposed to have launched yesterday in Helen.  If they did it was without me.  I forgot.  Watching them get filled, then rising up into the air is awesome.  If they didn't launch yesterday and plan to this morning, I don't think it'll happen as the cloud cover is low and it looks like rain.  A shame, really, as it is quite a colorful sight.
Next weekend is the art tour.  Just one day, the 9th.  It'll happen again November 9-11.  I'll be at the Habersham Winery once again next weekend promoting the gallery and trying to sell some of our wares.  Hopefully it'll be nice weather.  Daughter, bless her, is going to come up to help, even though she really needs to get ready to pack up and go out of town a few days later.  Her Someone won't be home so she arranged for babysitters for the day.  That's dedication for you.
Reckon I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have a perfect day and remember.....Alcohol does not solve any problems, but then again, neither does milk.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Yesterday was a day of remembering.  Today is a day of running errands with daughter.  Lots of errands.  Her Someone is going to watch the kids (bless him) so we can accomplish what we need to do.  Sprout has outgrown her car seat so that's on the list.  Some display items another as well as a trip to Sam's.  Gonna be a long day.  The bank account will groan.
Y'all have a ...... day.

I'm a day early but.....to those who have served I give thanks.  Honestly, I think we should bring all our military home.  While some progress has been made in some of the places our folks are or have been, I'm willing to bet that things would go back to the way they were once we left.  'Nuff said.
Daughter and family came up yesterday afternoon to re-pack the cargo trailer.  The chore was done quickly so they didn't have to spend the night to finish up the next day.  Much sorting and throwing away was done and will be done further once the trailer has been taken to Casa de Crazy.  Daughter cooked a yummy meal with enough left over for me to have for dinner tonight.
Went down and cleared the pipe in the pond.  Would love to know how all that mud gets packed on top of the cage.  Need to go down with weed killer both the kind that is specifically for pond greenery and the kind that kills ordinary weeds.  Will have to make sure the cat is in the house so she doesn't follow me down there.  Don't want her getting any weed killer on her.
Guess I'd better get going if I want to get anything done.  Y'all have a nice quiet day and remember those who have gone before us so that we might enjoy this day.

Don't want to sound maudlin or anything, but have you thanked a service person lately?   They are, after all, the ones who fight for us.  This weekend is to remember those who gave their all (lives) so that we could remain free.  If it weren't for them we might be speaking Japanese or German.  So give thanks, even if silently, while you enjoy those hamburgers or hot dogs.  Just sayin'.

Do you have one those drawers in the kitchen that seems to be a catch-all?  I had two of them.  Looking for something in them was like looking for a needle in a haystack.  The other day I was looking for a particular tool.  The screws in the door knob on the front door were beginning to loosen and the only tool that could fit in beside and behind the knob was the tool I was looking for.  I couldn't find it although I knew it was in that drawer.  Yesterday I emptied out that drawer and sorted through all the "stuff" that was in it.  A lot of the stuff will go down to the tool box in the basement.  Some of the tools will stay in that drawer.  I did find the one I was looking for and tightened the screws on the front door.  I also took care of the drawer that had all the take out menus, small manuals and various other "stuff".  Wonder how long it'll last.
Y'all have an interesting day and remember:  today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

Learning how to do something new is a wonderful thing.  This past week was spent learning how to make baskets.  I made four.  Different types and sizes.  I don't know if I'll continue to make them but just might take a stab at making a few more. The big one is the first one I made.  It took a whole day.   My hands hurt for a few days but they're doing better now.  They definitely aren't perfect but I'm glad I learned how to make them.
I'm volunteering at another gallery today (which makes for a busy week) so I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have a bright day and try to learn something new.

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Yesterday was spent at a local winery, not tasting wine, but promoting and selling wares from the gallery.  There were about 10 vendors there.  Although we didn't sell much we did get some people to wander on to the gallery.  We'll be doing it again next month.  Daughter was there to help and her Someone watched the kids (which takes a lot of energy).  It was a very pleasant day and I look forward to the next time.
I won't be on the computer for the next few days as I am going to a school in Young Harris where I'll be learning how to make some baskets (no comment from the peanut gallery, please).  It is said (by whom I have no idea) that learning how to do something new every year helps the brain stay healthy.  This will be my something new.  I'm sure the skill will come in handy some day.  It also means I'll be getting away for a few days which is also nice.  Daughter will be coming up to make sure the kitteh is doing okay and the kitteh's potty box isn't overflowing.
Y'all have a good week and remember:  all the happiness in the world can't buy you money.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Spent a most pleasant day with daughter and granddaughter yesterday.  Made some purchases for the feet and some outfits for the little one.  After that we had lunch at an Italian restaurant close by (granddaughter thought eating the crayons was much more enjoyable than coloring with them).  A trip to Jo-Ann's added to my thread collection but I have to go back today since I forgot the list of thread colours I need for embroidery.  I managed to get some that were on the list but also some that weren't.  I'm sure I'll use them anyway.  The reason I want to go back today is that they are 40% off which is great!  - Pause - While I go check out what the cat just knocked off the vanity in my room.
She knocked off a box of jewelry.  Luckily pieces didn't scatter all over so I was able to pick everything up quickly.  Guess I'll have to move everything now since she seems to like getting up there.  Sigh.
Let's see, where was I?  Oh yeah, thread.  See, this is thread that is usually almost $7.00 a spool.  Once I have all the colours I need (which is a lot) I'll have saved a bundle, even though I'm spending quite a bit (just not as much as I would have otherwise).  I just hope I can find all the colours.  Whew!
Well, guess I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have an exceedingly pleasant day and.... I'm waiting for the caffeine to kick in.

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

We have rain, which is needed.  I'm sure the tomato plants are happy.  So is the zombie pepper plant out back.  I told you about that, right?  The pepper plant that I thought was totalled by bugs coming up out of the soil bought at the big box store?  Anyway, it has blossoms on it so I'm leaving it alone.  It appears to like it where it is.  One of the 'mater plants in the garden has a fruit on it.  I'm not sure what kind of 'mater it is 'cause the writing on the plastic spoon faded away.  Looks like a Roma but I know I wasn't given one of those.  Guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Going to spend most of the day with daughter and grandkids.  We're going to one of the malls to see what there is to see.  It isn't one of the really BIG malls.  This one has discount stores and Crocs (which is the footwear daughter and grandson sport).  It also has a Lego store with some incredible figures.  There's a food court, of course.  Since it's a weekday I'm hoping there won't be a whole lot of kids which equals a whole lot of noise.  Something I'm less tolerant of the older I get.
By the way, it seems someone has taken over a blog I used to follow.  Blackbird is now nothing but stuff about baby food and such.  What's with that?  And the name is different.  Guess I'll have to delete it from my reading list.
Well, y'all have a good day and consider:  How to handle stress like a dog:  If you can't eat it or play with it, then pee on it and walk away.

Monday, April 30, 2012

I'm still home....yay.  Will be meeting some ladies for a nice lunch and a trip to a couple of quilt shops where, because this was my birthday month, I get great discounts.  I'll be getting a gift for a friend who lives nearby and who took care of my kitteh while I was in Redneck Central Horspital and Sock Emporium (I think my daughter added Sock Emporium because of those "cute" socks they give you with the rubber ridges on them so you don't slip and fall and sue.)  I'm going to get her some fabric in the colours shes likes.  I'll be getting some for me, too, of course.  At the second shop I'll be getting a special kind of fabric so I can do the cross-stitch embroidery by machine and make it look like I did it by hand (hey, I don't mind cheating).
Guess I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have a wunnerful day and.........enjoy.

Sunday, April 29, 2012

The last few days I was a "guest" at what my daughter calls Redneck Central General Horspital and Sock Emporium.  It seems my stomach and esophagus had had enough and decided to rebel......violently and without mercy.  Having been raised to be stoic I tried to tough it out but, after 16 hours of hell, finally realized that things were definitely NOT going to get better and caved in and called 911.  A definite first for me.  The EMT's were super and took me to the hospital of my choice, not the local one (my experiences in the ER there are another whole story).   I hurt.  I mean I HURT.  Those of you out there who have had children know what kind of pain I was in.  Dilaudid was my friend in the ER.  I hope to never go through that again.  Thankfully, though, gastritis and esphagitis is all it was (is) and there are medications for that.  I must say I had enough antibiotics pumped into me to kill every germ on the planet.  One positive thing out of all of this is that I found out I am allergic to the antibiotic Cipro.  Thankfully the nurse and I realized that the itching starting to go up my arm was not the tape holding down the IV.  Drawback is that it'll have to be paid for anyway.  Every time they scanned the band on my wrist I mentally went cha-ching.  Because I'm diabetic every finger on each hand has a hole or two in it from having my blood sugar tested.  Surprisingly it only "spiked" twice and they only gave me insulin once (I'm on pills at home, not insulin) and that was yesterday morning before "breakfast".
Daughter came and picked me up and brought me home, bless her.  That's another reason I had them take me to that particular hospital.  She lives fairly close by.  She told me if it happens again to call her and she'll come get me and take me in herself and save ambulance charges.  I thanked her and let her know that this time it wouldn't have been the right thing to do as things had gone too far.
Enough of my trials and tribulations.  Y'all have a peaceful day and.....be thankful for good health.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Cold again this morning.  Keeping my fingers crossed that the tomatoes will make it.  Daughter is coming up today.  It'll be good to see her.  I missed her while she was gone.
Y'all have a cozy day and remember..not all is as it seems.

Monday, April 23, 2012

A beautiful day yesterday.  Went down to the pond and cleared the pipe which had lots of sticks and mud on the cage.  Wish I knew how to prevent it happening but there is a current due to the creeks coming into the pond so it's inevitable that things will float toward the pipe.  It took a while but I finally got it done.  Then I cleared a small path through small trees and brush down to the pipe which purpose I'm not sure of.  I think it's so the pond can be drained but I'm not about to find out.....yet.  There is water coming out of it and I can't move the handle on top to shut it completely.  Nor can I open it completely...not that I want to....yet.  Now that I can get to it I'll hit it with some WD40 and see if that does anything.  After dealing with pond stuff I cleaned out half of the bed in back of the house as well as getting the thorny vine cleared away from the other half.  Guess what?  My muscles hurt.  Geesh, go figure.
Did an embroidery project in the late afternoon since I just couldn't make my body move much.  This after visiting the evil empire to get a vacuum food sealer.  Figured I'd need one if I wanted to save all the food I'm going to dehydrate.  Gotta love the evil empire....not.  Trying to get Hobby Lobby to open a store in the next town over.  We don't have anything like that here and it's a 30+ drive to get to any like store.
Y'all have a perfect day and ever stop to think and forget to start again?

Sunday, April 22, 2012

It's a bit chilly this morning but should warm up enough for me to get outside and get some work done.  I forgot to mention the other day that I saw the first hummingbird of the year.  I made some sugar water and put out the feeder for it.  Still only one as far as I can tell.  At first the cat was fascinated.  She soon realized, however, that there was no getting too it and it was a long way down off the porch rail.
We've had quite a bit of rain in the last few days.  The 'mater plants look to be thriving, so far, and the peppers as well.  My dehydrator arrived.  It's huge!  I think I could dehydrate every fig on the fig tree with it.  I'm certainly going to experiment with it.  It came with some good books on how to, etc.
I'm still trying to lose those last 2 pounds to get to my goal weight.  It's frustrating!  I shall persevere.
Y'all have a wonderous day and remember:  the earth is the insane asylum of the universe.

Bleh.....

Friday, April 20, 2012

Looks like we may get more rain.  Guess I'll have to go down to the pond in a day or so to make sure the pipe is clear.  If it isn't raining, that is.
Anyone out there have a cure for tennis elbow?  I didn't get it from playing tennis, but rather from knitting!  Apparently there has been an increase in tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, and DeQuervain's tendonitis in ladies who knit or crochet a lot.  And, because I have projects that need to be finished, I won't be quitting until at least they are finished.  Then I guess I'll have to find something else to do while in the waiting room at the dealership or doctor or whatever.  Geeesh!
Daughter and family will be home tomorrow (I think).  At least that was the plan.  Who knows, they may decide to stay longer, although I'm sure J wants to get back to his garden.
Y'all have a good day and remember:  The "EARTH" without "ART" is just "EH". (George Takel)

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Daughter and family are now in Texas with J's paternal side of the family as well as his son and brother (I think).  K is going to sample Round Rock Doughnuts and beef ribs.  I'm hoping they have a good time.  As for me, I spent a long day yesterday at a local hotel vending "stuff" from the gallery.  There's a celebrity charity golf tourny going on so some venders were invited to set up in the lobby, our gallery included.  I did sell a couple of things yesterday and will be going back this afternoon after quilt quild and then again in the morning, in hopes of catching people as they check out.  The "celebrities" are all sports people.  Except for one or two I wouldn't know who they are without the score card.  I'm not "into" sports.  Besides, they've all aged except for the kid who is a champion Legends driver.  Bill Elliott hadn't shown up by the time I left last night, nor had Phil Niekro.  Those are the only two whose names I recognized.
Guess I'd better get a move on.  Need to get some things done before guild.  Y'all have a marvelous day and......enjoy your life, it's the only one you've got.

Friday, April 13, 2012

So....it's Friday the 13th.  Don't know why people associate bad luck, etc. with it.  I know there's a story somewhere and maybe the Hermit can find out and let us know.  Don't know why the number itself is considered unlucky.  Perhaps you can enlighten me.
Cold again this morning.  Glad the sun is shining to warm things up.  Won't get anything done outside anyway since I'll be at the gallery all day.   I can see the zinnias beginning to sprout where I tossed the seeds.  Guess the soil is staying warm enough so the plants just might survive this cold snap.
Y'all have a gorgeous day and remember:  If you stumble, make it part of your dance.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Baby, it's cold outside!  Close to freezing, actually.  Hope the plants make it.  I ordinarily don't plant anything before Easter but the 'maters were getting leggy and really needed to go into the ground.  We'll see.  I do feel sorry for those who went whole hog and planted a lot of annuals.  And I wonder what happened to all those plants outside at the big box stores.
Y'all have a comfortable day and ask yourself.....what IS the meaning of life?

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Went down to the pond yesterday and cleared the pipe.  I also worked my a.. off digging and pulling out grass that was encroaching on the pipe.  It was hard work and I expected my back and leg muscles to really be put out today from the workout.  Surprisingly I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be.  Hmmmmm, wait until tomorrow I'm guessing.
It's another beautiful day so I think I'll work out in back of the house.  I haven't given that area the attention it needs.  I have an errand to run first.  Have to put a check in the mail to my CPA so she can send it to the state government for my taxes.  Luckily I don't owe the fed.
It got quite cool last night.  Only in the low 40's this morning.  It'll warm up soon.  Meanwhile y'all have a luscious day and remember.....not all roses are red.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Daughter and family are on their way to Baton Rouge, then Austin.  I wish them safe journey.  Traveling with two young 'uns is difficult at best and the Sprout does not like to be in her car seat for long periods of time.  Hopefully daughter remembered the portable DVD player so R can be entertained.
It's going to be a gorgeous day so I'm going outside to play.  There's lots to do.  I just hope I have the stamina to get a bunch done.  Getting older isn't easy, 'specially when you have a lot of acreage.
Y'all have a lovely day and ...... think.

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Well, gee whiz, where did the cold front come from?  I had to turn on the heat last night!  It was in the low 40's when I got up this morning.  Luckily I brought in the basil plant otherwise it might have kicked the bucket since basil doesn't like to be cold.  Glad I hadn't planted it yet.  Instead of in the ground I'm thinking of putting it in a pot on the porch.  Same with the parsely.  Tomorrow I hope to get the tomatoes in the ground.  The one that committed suicide looks to be making a recovery since I buried it in a very large pot.  I'll keep an eye on it.  I noticed that a plant I placed outside (it was on the porch and had croaked) looks to be making a comeback also.  It's a green pepper plant that had gotten full of teeny, tiny bugs.  (Be careful of soil you buy from the big box store.  I've talked to others who had the same problem.)
Y'all have a peaceful day today and tomorrow and remember:  it is what it is, or is it?

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

It was a beautiful day yesterday.  Early on I decided to finally get that tree that was across the path to the pond out of the way so I took my trusty bow saw and dispatched it handily.  Made sure the overflow pipe was cleared and saw that I'm going to have to do some serious digging at the bank to keep it from encroaching on the pipe.  It seems every time I go down there it's just a little bit closer.
Did some garden work until it got too hot.  Garden beds are now ready for planting of whatever.  I'll put the tomato plants in the bed my friend and I cleared.  When J and K came up to clear out the trailer I asked him what he thought he might like to plant.  Looks like we'll have some beans, cukes, and okra at the least.  Maybe some peppers.  I went to Lowe's and got some blueberry plants.  I hope to get those in the ground in front of the house today.  It looks like the weather will hold hopefully 'til this afternoon.  Also bought a basil and a parsely to put into what I hope may be an herb garden.  K is coming up today so I may be able to get her to help while the little one runs around in the yard.
Y'all have a precious day and watch out for gravity wells.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

I'm not sure I like this new format.  But I guess I'll learn to live with it.
I'm sore.  Yesterday a friend came over to get some lavender and help me thin out the plants.  Well, we discovered that there was one humongous plant and two smaller ones.  While she took on the job of cleaning off old stems, etc. I started getting weeds out.  Next thing you know we're tackling another bed that was nothing BUT weeds.  It was a struggle particularly since there were roots from the fig trees all in it.  We prevailed!  The soil is good so I may put the tomato plants that my daughter brought up (that I'm trying not to kill) there and maybe start some pepper plants (or buy some already started) in there as well.  Unfortunately one of the tomato plants committed suicide.  It got taller than it could sustain itself and fell over and the stem snapped.  I've buried it in a very large pot in hopes that it will revive itself.  Keep your fingers crossed.
Y'all have a good day and remember:  Normal is just a setting on a dryer.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Daughter is coming up today.  And since it's supposed to be in the mid to high 70's I'm going to try to talk her into clearing out their cargo trailer so when my friend has time to fix the electrical he can actually get to it.  There should be enough room in my shed for all the stuff.  I'm going to look in the shed and re-arrange things as needed.
I can't believe this weather.  I still haven't planted anything and won't until after Easter.  I've seen it snow here in April.  I may get the rest of the soil turned in the garden either today or tomorrow.  More likely tomorrow.  Am trying to find someone willing to till it and a couple of other spots.
Y'all have a promising day and......smile a lot so people will wonder what you are up to.

Monday, March 26, 2012

Gonna go pick up (I should say bail out) daughter's van this morning.  Hopefully it'll keep on going for a good long while now.  Then it's off to WW and running a few errands before I come home to do laundry and get some sewing done.  Sounds like such an exciting day, doesn't it?
It's been nice and cool these last two nights.  More like March temperatures.  I hated to have to turn on the AC three nights ago but  the temp in my room was 82!  Now it's in the 50's outside so the room is nice and cool for sleeping.
Cleo continues to be my alarm clock.  Every morning she jumps on the bed around 7:00 and lets me know in no uncertain terms (she gets right in my face) that it is time to get my butt out of bed and let her out for her morning stroll.  I don't mind, though, since I no longer have tree rats scampering about on the porch.  Her favorite thing is watching lizards and trying to figure out how she can climb down the side of the house to catch 'em.  No luck so far.  She spends quite a bit of time outside.  Maybe more than she wants, but she has such a delicate meow that I can't hear her if the front door is closed.  So I check every now and then to see if she wants in.
Hey, y'all have a gorgeous day and .... appreciate what you have.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Daughter left her van at the dealership and I picked her up there Monday.  Of course she had the kiddies with her.  When we got back to my place I finished the work on the iris bed.  It's now nicely weeded and mulched.  Went to bed fairly early...almost the same time as the kids.  Yesterday I turned soil in the garden (without a tiller, mind you).  I got about 2/3 done and quit due to the heat.  Daughter was able to get an appointment with the Dr. and he gave her some prescriptions for the cough and also the diabetes.  We went to the evil empire (Walmart) to get those filled (cheap!) and bought some clothes for the kids.  When we got back to the house we dyed eggs since it was Ostara then I took daughter and kiddos back to the dealership so she could pick up a loaner since the van won't be ready until at least tomorrow.  I won't tell you how much it's going to cost me but I wanted to get whatever work needed to be done accomplished before she and family went on the road to Louisiana and, later, Michigan.  I didn't want to get a panic call from the side of the road.
As for the doctor business, I want my daughter to be healthy and diabetes is not something to be ignored.  She may have insurance for the kids but I have to be her insurance.  And because I would not be able to care for the children should something happen to her because of the diabetes I am willing to take on the dr. and prescription expense.  Once a mom always a mom.  And if need be, I'd do the same for my son.
It looks like rain today.  I'll be going to get my driver's license renewed as well as the tags for my van.  I wonder if they'll let me use the picture that's on my license now.  Maybe I'll get more sewing in since I didn't get any done in the last two days.  I have a couple of projects I really want to finish.
Y'all have a clear day and blessed be.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

It's raining, again.  We had two semi-nice days which was great.  I couldn't get anything done outside though as I was at the gallery and had other stuff to do when I got home or it was knit night.  If Sunday is a nice day I'm getting outside and working the soil.  Daughter's coming up Monday and if it's still good weather maybe we can both get something done outside.  We'll put up the "cage" and Sprout can tickle her toes in the grass.  At some point we're going to have to empty out the cargo trailer so a friend can get in and fix the lighting harness that blew when the tire went last year.
Y'all have a productive day and remember:  Know who you are.  Accept who you are.  Be who you are.

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Had a nice quiet day with my daughter yesterday.  Grandson was with his dad and Sprout stayed with her papa.  We went to the local picture framer and left the black and whites we had taken when I took her on a cruise with me.  I've only had them for 3 years.  About time to get them finished.  And we looked around some of the other spaces in this place called the Old Clarkesville Mill.   It's huge and has lots of things to look at.  I think there are more books there than at Barnes and Noble.  It would take a day or more to check out everything.
Then we had a great lunch at Natalie Jane's.  She had the Rueben and I had THE best BLT.  Afterward we went back to my place where I grabbed some of my yarn and we went to the local knit shop...Bumbleberry... and had a good time chatting with others while doing our thing.   I'm hoping we can do another day sans children.  Hopefully once a month.  I miss our time together.
I'm hoping J didn't have too hard a time with Sprout and that he'll be willing to do it again.  He never called to see when K was coming home so I have to "assume" that things went fine.
Y'all have a good day and remember:  It is what it is, or is it?

Friday, March 9, 2012

It was a long day yesterday.  I had a good dinner and retired early.  Luckily I was able to sleep in this morning since I don't have to be at the center until 10:00.  It's going to be another long day but that's what I'm here for.  Got to take a free class yesterday afternoon.  Even though I didn't have my machine with me I did get the fabric cut so all I have to do is piece when I get home.  It's a fairly simple pattern so it shouldn't take long to get done (like I really needed another project, right?).
So, onward and upward.  Y'all have a good day and ............................. (fill in the blank).

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

It's "super Tuesday".  You vote?  I will as soon as I get my butt in gear.  Daughter's coming up today so I want to get that accomplished before she gets here.
It's clear and cold out there.  My sinuses are doing somewhat better.  Of course, the benadryl is doing its thing and I can breathe at night.
Got quite a bit accomplished yesterday in the sewing department.  Will be finishing up a small wall hanging today, I hope.  I still have a lot to do as far as finishing ufo's but my goal is to get them done this year, even if I start new projects.  I have one large quilt to finish.  Once I get the back put together I'll take it to the lady who does the long-arm quilting.  I'm not in any hurry, but I do want to get it done this year.
Guess I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have the best day and remember....don't vote?  Don't complain.

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Last night was awful.  I took two Benadryl just to be able to breathe through my nose.  My face still feels like it's been hit by a brick.  The sun is shining today, however, so I have hopes of the temperature going up enough for me to sit outside for a bit to soak up some Vitamin D.  Aside from that it's laundry and sewing today.
If you want a smile go to Hermit Jim's blog site and watch the cartoons.  I loved the Roadrunner cartoons.
Y'all have a quiet day and remember:  Money isn't everything in life, is it?  But it keeps you in touch with your children....Johnny Carson

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Wow, what storms we had last night.  While the light show was fantastic the rain was enough to drown out thunder.  I woke up around 2:30 and it was still raining heavily.  I don't know how many cells moved through but my driveway has some new canyons in it and there's still standing water.  Looked out to the pond and the water appears quite full of silt (oh joy).  I think I'd rather be still in the Caribbean.
Yup, March came in like a lion alright.
My sinuses are quite painful this morning.  And it looks like the storms aren't over yet.  Oh, for sunshine and clear air.
Y'all have a clear day and .... shop at your small hometown stores instead of the megas.

Friday, March 2, 2012

This weather is ridiculous.  Yesterday was gorgeous (which I appreciated) although I was inside moving display stands and jewelry cases at the gallery.  It looks like a new place.  Last night it started to rain and this morning is gray and dismal.  The night before was very rainy and windy.  Still warm, which does not bode well.  I guess you could say that March came in like a lion.  I won't be surprised if we get a snow or ice storm some time this month.  Probably when I'm in Gwinnett  at the Sewing Expo, with my luck.  I just wish it would make up its mind so my sinuses would behave.  Right now my face feels like it's been hit by a brick.
Would love some good weather, though, so I can get out in the garden.  I'm ready to play in the dirt.  I know it isn't time to plant most things but getting the soil ready would be a good thing, wouldn't it?  My Lowe's bill is almost totally paid so I'll be able to go get some soil amendment soon.  And this year I'd love to plant some blueberry bushes.  Sigh....come on Spring!
Y'all have a (whatever you want) day and ..... if you met my family you'd understand.

We had our meeting at the gallery yesterday and a unaminous vote was shown for staying open.  So we are giving it another year at least.  There were lots of ideas thrown around for how to improve getting information out to the public about us and some volunteered to work on that.  We've had volunteers before but nothing was done, so we'll see.  I should be optimistic but I'm not.
My grandson still hasn't found his phone.  He isn't careful about his things.  Maybe he'll have learned a lesson from this, but who knows.
Want to get some things done before WW so I'll get going.
Y'all have a tremendous day and remember:  things could be better.

Took the filter out of the filter thingy and boy! Dwas it cruddy.  I cleaned the container the filter sits in and put it back on.  Will find out about water pressure when I run my bath shortly.  Will call the plumber first thing on Monday and see if he can come out and give me an estimate on cost.  Hopefully not an arm and a leg.
Went down to the pond and cleaned up a bit around the overflow pipe.  I think the carp are really doing their job since there wasn't much to clean up.
Going in to the gallery today to make sure I have the stuff to make some earrings some friends have ordered.  A decision will be made tomorrow as to whether or not we stay open.  We just aren't getting the traffic we need nor the sales.  If we do close it won't be until the end of June.
The wind really kicked up yesterday.  It was so warm the day before and today it was in the 30's when I got up.  Crazy weather.  I wouldn't be surprised if we had a good snow storm or ice storm in March.
Don't know about you but I have things to do so I'll say ciao for now.  Y'all have an interesting day and remember:  Life is a four-letter word.

Daughter came up Wednesday and it was a pleasant visit.  Took my tax info down to the CPA yesterday then went and had my friend at the knit shop start my project for me AGAIN.  I had to rip out the first attempt as I had dropped stitches and hadn't caught them up properly, leaving gaping holes.  Grrrr.
Will be trying to deal with the whole-house water filter this morning.  I can't find the proper insert filters anywhere so I'm going to have to get a new unit, but not until March when I'll have some $$$.  Meanwhile I'll be taking the last filter out and not replacing it.  Don't know what that's going to do to the water but maybe the pressure will be improved.  I've also given thought to flushing the pressure tank.  That could prove interesting.
It's too warm for this time of year so we'll likely get a storm today.  The daffodils are up as are the hyacinths.  If the sun were out that would be one thing, but it's cloudy and windy and looks like it's going to rain.  Sigh.
Y'all have a good day and......think for yourself.

Daughter is coming up today...with children.  It will be nice to see her and the younguns'.  I brought back some souvenirs for them which I hope they enjoy.  'Course the youngest won't have a clue, but that's okay.  There'll come a day when she will.
Am going to try to get some work done on a quilt that I had basted yesterday.  It's been sitting on my "design" wall for ages.  My goal this year is to GET THINGS FINISHED!  I have some other projects that need work and, although I've started a new project, I'll be working on those in these next few weeks.  I plan to work on them on days I'm not at the gallery and the weather is bad, which is the case right now.  I've also started a knitting project, a somewhat difficult one, that I hope to finish successfully.
Meanwhile, I need to get a move on.  It's been great catching up on all the blogs since I was away but I now need to take time to play catch up on things here.
Y'all have a totally awesome day and remember:  believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Funny thing this morning.  As I was waking up I thought "Wonder what port we're at?  The ship isn't moving."  Then I realized that it wasn't moving 'cause I'm home.  Damn.
Cleo is back to her morning routine of pouncing on my abdoment then moving up to my chest, letting me know that it's time to haul my butt out of bed and pay attention to her.  I always tell her that I'll play with her after breakfast but she still insists.
I did gain some weight on the cruise.  All of .2 lbs.  A disappointment to me but not a big deal to WW.  Most of the members were actually amazed.  Guess I didn't walk enough and I KNOW the drinks didn't help even though I quit early on.  I didn't go "overboard" with eating either.  Now that the Wii is working again I'm back into exercising so that should take care of it and help me lose even more (I hope).  Will be glad when warm weather makes it this way so I can get outside and work.
Have quilt guild and knitting group today.  Getting back into the swing of things.  Good, but not, if you know what I mean.
Y'all have a lovely day and remember:  He who hesitates may not be lost but just deciding which fork in the road he should take.
