Sitting here, drinking orange juice, reading good posts. I'd ask my daughter to send me five words, but I'm not good at word smithing so I'll skip that I think. It looks to be a glorious day. Actually any day I'm still here is glorious. Think I'll try to actually get something done. I've spent the last two days trying to play catch up from being away for a week. Another HVAC person is coming over to give an estimate on a new system. One that will actually keep me cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
It was wonderfully cool last night. Great for sleeping. Only 48 when I got up. Wow, talk about a change in the weather! Don't know how long it will last, though. It does seem as though Autumn has come a bit early for this area. I don't mind. The weeds will die sooner and I can clear some places out without having to pull them. Maybe I can find the 4 underground bee nests, if M (he does my mowing for me) can't find them tomorrow. They are not nice bees and must go. I wondered why he didn't weed eat in a particular area. I left him a note in case he mowed while I was gone and he wrote me one back explaining why. Yellowjackets! I don't blame him. And although he wrote I could dock some of his pay, I told him, no way. I do wish he had told me sooner when the weeds weren't so high. I could have gotten rid of them more easily. Oh well. I'll get 'em.

I'm home from a week of working the Petit Le Mans and am quite tired. It was beautiful all week until yesterday....the big day....when the heavens opened up and the deluge came. Needless to say it put a damper on things (pun intended). Those of us in the tower did not envy the workers out on the turns. Even though they wear rain gear, it's still miserable standing out there. (Been there, done that.) I'm sure the drivers weren't too happy either, especially those in open cockpit cars. Can you say "I'm sitting in a foot of water going 100+ miles an hour?" :)
It was a first....the race was called before the finish. There were arguments about whether or not the race had gone half way and could be called official. Well....it was either 1000 miles or 10 hours and when the red flag came out there were only 11 minutes left to the half way mark. The clock did not stop running, however, sooooo, according the the rules, when the clock hit the half way mark, the race was official. Needless to say some drivers weren't very happy with that. It was a difficult decision for the race director, but on the safety side, the right one when he called for the checker (in my humble opinion).
Being in the tower, I learned a lot and heard a lot. Most of it will stay with me. What goes on in the tower stays in the tower. If I were to blab about everything, rest assured I would not be invited back.
Going to take a nap now. See if I can catch up on some sleep.

It is raining...still...and it's going to rain some more. I'm feeling quite soggy. Went down to the pond yesterday and, as I expected, the overflow pipe was blocked. Had sooooo much fun getting the muck and water lilies away from the milk crate covering the pipe. Must go down again today before going to my daughter's to make sure it's still open. I'll not be wearing the waders, though. I found out that I have to bend over with my face almost touching the water in order to get to the muck, etc. so it's useless really to wear the waders and rain jacket. I'll wear old clothes and shoes and not care if I get soaked. Just hope I don't get cold, although the water isn't too bad right now. Wish me luck.

After a day at the gallery a bunch of us gals got together at the Bad Fairy's house to play poker. A first gathering of that nature for this gang of women. Yes, we played poker.....our way (and no, it wasn't strip poker....what a waste that would have been). We also went out on the porch to play with a bubble making machine, danced and sang. Some drank, some didn't. I came home sober. D and I successfully unclogged the BF's sink which decided to clog up for not perceptable reason. N joined in the effort and I have some interesting pictures of D and N which I will only show privately. S got some really good shots of everyone enjoying the evening and I hope to see those soon. She's going to use some for paintings. Wow! A good time was had by all and we plan to do it again.

I just got back from the dentist. Good news and not so bad. I have no cavities but have to go back so he can go in and do some scraping next to the bone in a couple of spots. Seems the tartar buildup crept up under the gum and has begun to affect the bone. Yeeesh. Gettin' older sucks.
It's raining. I was leaving a message for my ex son-in-law when I happened to glance out the window. There was a hummingbird sitting on the very end of a branch of the dogwood tree taking a shower, making sure all his feathers and whatever got washed. He was delightful to watch and made me smile. That's one smile, at least, for the day. I'm sure there will be more.

Getting a bone density scan today. Should be interesting as I've never had it done before. Kinda messes up my day seein' as how it's at 1:30 and that just kills the afternoon. I'm trying to get some towels embroidered to sell and it takes a minimum of 2 - 2 1/2 hours to do one. This morning is shot thanks to my intestines getting in a snit over something I ate last night. Geez....I hate getting older. So many things to go south (including skin sag) on ya.

Spent two days with daughter. It was great. Yesterday we went, along with sister-out-law J to the Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain. Lots of vendors....and I mean LOTS of vendors. It was HUGE. We meandered around and found K's best friend K, who was selling her glass along with another lady. We stopped and chatted while daughter took pictures of FAB amongst the glass. Then we meandered some more. Had lunch....meandered some more. Nothing really catching the eye and saying "take me home". Did purchase some great finger nail files. They last forever if you don't step on them or drop them on a hard surface. Sometimes they just seem to disappear into the great unknown. At any rate, we decided to get a funnel cake to split then call it a day even though we hadn't seen the whole thing. Walking back to the van I was glad (and so was my left achilles tendon) that we had decided to call it a day. I slept well last night thanks to all the walking. (I wonder if I lost any weight?)

It's a gray (grey) day. A great day to stay in bed, snuggle under the covers and snooze. The leaves are beginning to turn on some of the trees. It is cool outside. We are being teased by Fall. No staying in bed today, snuggling under the covers. It's off to the gallery then to daughter's house for a couple of days. We have THINGS to do. Fall will come in its own time. I welcome the cooler weather, knowing that it won't stay long. It never does. But, who knows, maybe this time it will....ha ha.

Why is it I start with a clear month on the calendar only to have it fill in quickly with this appointment or that, leaving me little to no time to get any yard work done. I NEED to do yard work. My weed patches have weeds! And I really must leave a note for the kid who mows the yard that it's okay to weed whack around the bird feeders. In fact, I must insist he do so. I told him he should a while ago but I guess he forgot. Hmm, maybe I should forget his check? Nah! He does a good job otherwise. His dad helps so they get it done quickly. I'll leave a note with his check. And it's off to a meeting this morning. This afternoon, if it isn't raining, I am going outside to work in the yard, so there!

Spent yesterday writing, writing, writing. Nothing interesting, of course. Just stuff for the landowners association which has to go out by the 10th. So, I guess I'll see if there is any place open today where I can get copies (I seriously doubt it). Also today I have to write again. This time it's thank you notes to people who have joined or renewed their membership to GHCA. I've been lax on that and need to catch up. I am such a slacker! I always seem to leave stuff like that to the last minute just like I did in college. But then it was the only time I got a good grade. 'course I'm not getting graded for this but I don't want to let people down...so it's off to write.

I've been helping a friend get ready for a really big convention in Atlanta. It's Dragon Con and many thousands attend. She sells clothing which she makes herself (and this year with a little help from friends) and some she doesn't make herself. After all, one can only do so much. Wednesday I went down to her house and her mom and I priced all day, getting the stuff that was at the house done. Then we loaded PJ's van. You really can get two pounds of shit in a one pound bag, although it took some interesting words and ingenuity. Yesterday was load in day and boy, were we busy. I did a LOT of pricing and considered myself lucky that I didn't stab myself with the pricing gun. I'm tired today, everything catching up, I guess. So I'm going to take a nap after eating a sandwich. And that's all I have to say today.
