Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

Didn't get a whole heck of a lot done yesterday.  Was able to cut down some small wild cherry trees that were blocking my view of the pond.  Then it was RoundUp time.  To those who oppose it's use, get over it.  I have to use it in order to keep some places under control.  And right now there's only me here.  At any rate it finally got too hot to do anything more.  My headband was soaked by the time I got through, as was every piece of clothing.  I won't get anything done today since I'll be going into the gallery.  By the way I sold a couple of pairs of earrings the other day.....yay.  I know my check this month is going to be small but that's better than nothing.  At least I sell a few things every month.  It does add up eventually but I sure am glad I don't have to rely on the income to live.
It's gonna be another hot one today.  Kinda glad I'll be inside at the gallery.  Don't know what I'll get done today.  I did post a picture of my latest project on my facebook page.  I'll see if i can figure out how to do it here.
  Wow!  it worked!
Y'all have a productive day and remember:  Get involved....the world is run by those who show up.

She's home

Daughter and family are home.  They had quite a week and some adventures that you can read about at http://kyddryn.blogspot.com .  Unfortunately the adventures didn't stop there.  Yesterday they found out that the "disposable" diaper liners that are "flushable" aren't so flushable after all.  I received a call from daughter telling me that she was doing a load of laundry and......... (maybe the floor at least got clean).  A few hours later I received another call, this one from the nice man who actually came out to check things out.  It seems that when the septic tank was emptied last year in May, the requisite 4 - 6 inches of sludge containing all that good bacteria was not left behind sooooooo there was nothing in the tank to eat up whatever was put in.  And those "disposable" and supposedly biodegradable nappy liners just sat there taking up room and eventually they and more paper floated to the top thereby blocking the intake pipe, etc., etc.  I see a lot of RidX in the future.  And no more nappy liners down the toilet.  It's also recommended that they flush twice just to make sure the paper goes all the way into the tank.  Seems the new "water saver" toilets may save water, but aren't sufficient always to get everything to the tank on the first flush.
Okay, now that I've spoiled your breakfast, lunch or dinner.......
I'm off to get rid of some wild cherry treelings so I can see my pond from the kitchen window.  It looks like I may need to go down to the pond but I can't really tell because of the wild cherry stuff.  If it isn't too hot I'm going also to the garden to do some more weeding so I can plant the tomato and pepper plants that are now on my porch in their little pots.
Y'all have a grand day and remember:  Freedom of speech means freedom to disagree.

It had to happen

Daughter called about 10:30 last night.  They are on their way home and guess what.....one of the trailer tires blew, taking the fender with it.  When she called they were near Winston-Salem, limping along the side of the highway with the flashers on.  Luckily they found a well lit gas station next to a tire store just off the highway.  The gas station was still open and allowed them to "drop" the trailer overnight.  They were going to find some place to sleep then return to the station and tire store in the morning.  It's gonna cost me but I'm glad they stayed safe.  Daughter will call me this morning and let me know what's what.  She sent me a picture via phone of the poor tire and wheel.  I'm thinking that the wheel is going to have to be replaced also.  It was pretty crooked from being driven on for a ways.  If need be I'll tell her to leave the trailer there and come on home.  We can go get it later in the week.  I'm going to tell her to have the tire store check the other tire also, just in case.  I tell you, if it isn't one thing it's another and if they had any luck at all it would be bad.  But like I said, at least they weren't hurt.  I see a spare trailer tire in the future.
Reckon I'd better get a move on.  Y'all have a grand day and...don't get even, get ODD.

Sunday, June 26, 2011

It's Sunday.  Not that it makes much difference what day it is.  They've all begun to run together and if I didn't have a calendar on the fridge I probably wouldn't know what day it is, was, or will be.
Think I'll get the rest of the quilt top finished this morning.  The one I started the other day.  Don't have to be at the gallery 'til noon.
Did get some weeding done yesterday morning.  The squash plants have blossoms on them.  The okra looks like it's struggling.  Only a few inches high.  'Course the soil hasn't been amended in years and probably doesn't have much in the way of nutrients in it.  Oh well.
Y'all have a peaceful day and remember....what you haven't started you can't finish.

Saturday, June 25, 2011

For some reason I thought yesterday was today.  Must be a time warp thing.  Left the gallery early and came home and took a nice nap.  After I cooked some snow crab legs for dinner.  Put those in the fridge, then took a snooze.  It rained again but at least it wasn't a violent storm.  One of these days I'm actually going to make it out to the garden to pull some weeds.  The ground should be soft by now.
I miss my daughter.  They should be starting home tomorrow.  I'll be glad when she is home.
Am off to the gallery for another (no-sale I bet) day.  Did some work with copper yesterday.  Maybe I'll be inspired to do more today.  Hard to get things done when nothing is selling.
Y'all have an interesting day and think about this:  Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition this it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.

Friday, June 24, 2011

I'm off to the Chevy dealership this morning to have the rearview mirror put back on the windshield.  It got so hot here that the glue melted and the mirror came off in my hand.  Geeeesh!  After that it's off to the gallery.  We had no sales yesterday.  Hope today is better.  This can't keep up or we are going to have to close, which would be a shame.
Y'all have a safe Friday and......remember who you wanted to be.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

My driveway is a river and the rain is still falling.  It's rained since about 4 a.m...Not a gentle rain, either but a hard rain.  Looks like it'll be around for the rest of the day.  Hope the ground was able to soak it up.  Although we've had rain this past week I'm not sure the ground has softened up enough.  I'll have to get out to the garden soon or the weeds will choke what few vegetable plants there are out there.
There's a hole somewhere in the overflow pipe in the pond.  I heard water flowing the other day when I went down to check if it needed clearing.  Don't know where it is, just hope it isn't near the bottom.  If it is I won't have much of a pond left and trying to fix it is not in the near future.  It would be too costly.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Heard from daughter.  Apparently things are not going well in Ohio.  One of her friends died Monday and sales have been very poor.  They've had rain nearly every day and that keeps folks away.  I miss her a lot and can't wait  for her to come home.  I think they'll be starting home on Sunday.  I was really hoping that she would have a good income from this event to get her motivated to do more but......
Well, need to get going.  Will be at the gallery all day.  Bet we don't get any customers.
Y'all have a sunshine kind of day and remember:  if you don't talk to your cat about catnip, who will?

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

It's gonna be a hot one.  70 degrees at 7:00 already.  Yesterday it came close to 100.  No wonder I don't get any yard work done.  It's too dang hot!!  I have places to go and things to do today but tomorrow I'm gonna try my best to get to the garden and grab up the weeds so the squash and okra have room to grow.  If I'm feeling really ambitious I might even get out there tonight once the shade hits the garden.  I need to spray the dam with RoundUp, put down a tarp on the grass area in the garden so when J gets back we can build a nice raised bed, maybe grow some winter veggies.
Went to the dentist yesterday to have a broken crown removed and a temporary put in.  The dentist had a heck of a time removing the old one it was put in so well.  Pieces went flying.  It was a good thing his assistant had on eye protection.  I'll get the permanent on put in in about three weeks.  Meanwhile I won't be chewing any gum or some such.  Right now I have to be careful not to bite my cheek 'cause it's still a little swollen back there.
Miss my daughter.  She's in Ohio at a Solstice event with J and the kiddos.  Hopefully it isn't as hot there as it is here.  If it is they'll be miserable.  I know...been there, done that.  Guess everything is okay since I haven't heard from her.
Y'all enjoy the longest day of the year and remember:  Life is short.....dance often.

Monday, June 20, 2011

Going to the dentist this morning to get a new crown put in.  The old one, which I've had it seems forever, just started breaking off pieces.  The dentist recommended gold over porcelain.  No thank you, I'll take porcelain.  Looks nicer and I don't need gold in my mouth....I need it in my pocket.
I'm hoping that I quit having so many problems with this site.  It's begun to get aggravating.  Meanwhile I guess I'll just keeping plugging away and deal with it.
Must get out to the garden and pull some weeds so the squash and okra have more room.  We've had quite a bit of rain lately and the weeds have enjoyed that immensely.
Y'all have a decent Monday and remember:  reading is sexy.

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I'm getting tired of all the trouble I have to go to get my blog posted. Think I'll take some time off and just read others. So keep me entertained, folks.
Y'all have a comfortable day and remember: falling down doesn't make you a failure... staying down does.

A day off and lots of errands to run.
Y'all have a successful day and ask yourself "What if the voices were right all along?"

It was a bust

Well, the Arts Tour is over and I think it was pretty much a bust. We had very few people come into the gallery and few purchases. The cookie contest was the most popular thing for those who did come in. Yours truly won the gluten-free category (blush) and I now have one of J's hand made mugs to prove it. I also have a gazillion cookies left over since not as many people showed up as we had hoped. Wish I could send them out to y'all but I'm afraid they'd spoil on the way and that wouldn't be good, would it?
We've had three days with afternoon showers. Yay! I haven't had to water the garden and the veggies out there are loving it. Tomorrow I'm going to get out there to do some weeding now that I know what the okra looks like.
Y'all have a productive day and... dance your own dance, sing your own song, speak your own truth, live your own dream.....Raphaella Vaisseau

Don't know how the tour went yesterday. Got sick and had to come home. I think it might have been the milk in my cereal. It may have been just turning bad even though it tasted okay. The date on the container was for today but sometimes it goes bad before the expiration date. Slept on and off all day and paid a couple of visits to the bathroom (like you really wanted to know that) and basically existed on ginger ale. Slept all night, too. Feel okay this morning and will go on in and hope I last the day.
We had a pretty good thunder storm yesterday afternoon and it brought much needed rain. Not much, though

Friday, June 10, 2011

Today is the first day of the Northeast Georgia Arts Tour. This is a self-guided tour that covers four counties. Two weekends a year the places participating have demonstrating artists so people can see how some things are made. Our gallery is one of the participants and we're having a cookie contest. There's been a lot of interest in that so we'll see how many people bring in cookies. It's kinda hard to determine how many to make since the tour is 3 days and there have to be enough of your cookies to last all 3 days. I made some gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and we'll see how they fare. Actually they aren't just chocolate chip. I throw in dried cranberries and dried tart cherries as well. Makes a nice contrast. I lost count on just how many cookies I made. I hope there's enough 'cause I really don't want to have to make more after being at the gallery all day. Will let you know if I win.
We had a little bit of rain yesterday. Just enough to tease. We need more. Doesn't look like we'll get any today. Sigh.
Well, need to get a move on. Have to take daughter's fire extinguisher to be refilled. She had to use it on a small fire on the side of the road. What's with these idiots who throw cigarettes out the window? Especially when we are in a drought?
Y'all have an interesting day and.....think good thoughts.

Let's see. Still having problems with the posting thing. Still makes me go to list of posts even though this is a new one. When I click on publish post I see Javascript void below it, whatever that means. I'll just muddle along.
Family coming up today and I have to bake cookies for the contest this weekend. Lots of cookies. Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies (without nuts since so many people are allergic). There has to be enough for three days. Whew! Hope the oven holds up.
A while back I mentioned that I made some strawberry soup and someone asked for the recipe, so here it is;
1 quart fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled or 1 (16 oz.) package frozen whole strawberries
thawed and drained
1 cup sour cream
1 cup light cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons light rum or 1 teaspoon rum flavoring

Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Add the sour cream, light cream, sugar and rum. Continue blending until smooth. Chill several hours or overnight.

Garnish with fresh strawberry slices.

This is great on a warm summer's eve.

Try it and let me know how you like it.

Guess I'd better get a move on. The cookies aren't going to make themselves. Y'all have a grand day and remember: every day presents new possibilities.

Monday, June 6, 2011

J said we didn't need to open yesterday but I did anyway 'cause one of the artists was going to bring back some art and a loaner baby swing. I didn't think it would be a good day but when J got there in the afternoon I told her she missed the morning rush. She scoffed and I said, "I MEAN the morning rush." A group of (I think) Korean women came in and bought some things. Since I was by myself I felt a little overwhelmed. I'm not the sharpest pencil in the drawer when it comes to cash registers and credit card machines. Somehow I got through it all but would have loved to have had someone else there. They even had to take a picture of me with them! J couldn't believe it when I told her how much they spent. Just goes to show you never know.
I know J is disheartened about the little attendance we get. Hopefully taking a few days off to be with family will lighten her spirits. Don't know what I'll do if the gallery does close. I think we should give it more time. The arts tour is coming up this weekend and we'll see how many people we get going through. If the committee did its job with publicity.
It's Monday..........
Y'all have a good start to the week and be yourself....everyone else is taken.

Sunday, June 5, 2011

It was slow at the gallery yesterday. J (the CEO) didn't come in and I didn't read her email saying she wouldn't be in until I got home. I was worried as I tried to call her, but to no avail. Her email this morning was not encouraging and she doesn't think we need to open up. I'm going to anyway since one of the members is returning some of her stuff and bringing me a swing for the granddaughter. Basically the only traffic there was yesterday (outside) were people going tubing on the river or at the water park or motorcycles. And we all know how bikers love art (snort). There was a bike rally in the city park and as I drove by in the morning I notice a trailer that said "Attorneys on Motorcycles". Whoa. Now, granted, they have every right to ride but the pictures that came into my head were 1) bikers in pinstriped suits, Gucci loafers, and expensive ties and 2) attorneys in court with long hair, beards, chains and leather. Oh, and earrings. Weird, huh?
Okay, on to another day. I'll probably be home early but at least I'll have given the gallery a try.
Y'all stay cool today and remember: To the world you may be one person, but to one person you are the world.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Don't know what's going on with this site but there sure seem to be some major problems. I think I'll hold off posting for a while and see if the creators of this can get their s... together and get whatever is wonky fixed!

Comments

I'd like to leave comments on some of the blogs I read but can't. Every time I try I'm told I have to sign in. Once I've "signed in" and try to leave a comment it tells me to sign in. Grrrrr. And apparently I can't sign out! I've tried and have thought I succeeded but no. So, to one and all that read this, it isn't that I have nothing to say. I'm just not allowed to say it.
Y'all have a nice one.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Okay, this is getting weirder. First of all, Blogger won't let me sign out. Then, if I try to leave a comment it makes me sign in over and over and over, resulting in the fact that I can't leave a comment!
Was sick yesterday. Don't know what it was but it had to do with the digestive tract. Won't go into details. Suffice it to say that I slept most of the day and all night and existed on peanut butter crackers and water. Lots of water.
I want to get some things accomplished today and hope I feel like it after a nice shower. I hate feeling poorly, especially on my days off. Too much to do and too little time.
Y'all have a good day
