Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

It's a bit early for Spring cleaning but that's what I'm going to start today since I like to come back from a trip to a clean house.
Found out that the leak I thought was the gasket around the windshield is actually the gasket on the passenger side door.  Absolutely going to get that fixed before I leave.
Guess if I'm going to get anything done I'd better get a move on.
Y'all have a productive day and remember:  Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel IS an oncoming train.

The sun shines, although it's a bit on the nippy side.  I'm taking a friend to the botanical gardens to see our guild exhibit and have lunch there.  Might even go out and walk some of the paths if it warms up some.  The daffodils are blooming already!
This coming week will be spent doing last minute stuff before I leave.  There's lots of cleaning to be done as well as laundry.  I like to come home to a clean house after a trip.  I've pretty much made up my mind what kind of "wardrobe" to take.  There is little in the way of toiletries I need to take since the cruise line supplies shampoo, etc.  And since I don't wear makeup it's a given I won't have to lug any of that #$%p around.  I don't mind wearing the same outfit twice, either.
Y'all have a restful Sunday and ponder this:  if tin whistles are made of tin, what do they make foghorns out of?

Don't know if I'll be posting anything while I'm away on my trip.  Internet time costs quite a bit on board ship.  I will check email, but that's about it.
Going to the gallery today.  This is the last few days until March since those of us who are there all the time will be gone for a while during the month of Febru-ugly.  Guess you could say that January has been ugly here, too.  A lot of rain and gray days.  Will be very glad to get into the sunshine (I think I've said that before, yes?).  It's another gray day and it's supposed to rain tomorrow.  Ugh.
Was somewhat reluctant to take on another cat but am glad now I did.  She is most amusing and makes me smile.  Not much can make me smile or laugh when I first wake up but she has managed to so do.
Tried my hand at Quibids.  Not sure I'll continue after I've run out of bids but I did "win" some camera memory cards for 2 cents.  Of course the tax was 28 cents and shipping is $3.29.  Only reason I got 'em was because mine was the only bid.  Will check out what they might have today.
With that I'll bid you good day.  Remember:  the fundamental job of a toddler is to rule the universe...unknown.

Daughter came up yesterday with the kids.  Hard to believe granddaughter is 1 today.  I swear time goes by faster the older I get.  Anyway, she was able to get some stuff done on the 'puter including some blogs.  Grandson finally cleaned off the "train" table upstairs so we could let loose the hex bugs.  When they are scurrying around they look so much like cockroaches it isn't funny.  But yet it is.
I loaned daughter the money needed to get her landline turned back on.  If her good for nothing ex would pay her what he owes her she'll be able to keep it on.  I don't like the idea of her not having a way to call for help if needed while at home.  The cell phone is going to have to stay off for now.  The internet also.  I told her yesterday that while I'm gone she and J are welcome to come up and stay.  I'm leaving the laptop here so J can get on and catch up on his gazillion emails, etc.  I'll take my "minimom" with me so I can keep up with emails while I'm on the cruise.  I hate to come home with God only knows how many emails, most of which are junk.

Went to my new granddaughter's 1st birthday party yesterday.  Her real birthday is Wednesday but it's much easier to get folks to come to a party on the weekend.  Besides, do you think she knew what the heck was going on?  There were a lot of children there (groan).  Luckily they could be sent outside to play, otherwise we adults wouldn't have been able to hear each other talk.  J's mom and sister were there along with his two nieces.  It was nice to see his mom again and meet his sister.  The birthday girl did pretty well present-wise.  Clothes were the main thing, which was good since she outgrows everything so quickly.  She may only be 1 but she's wearing 18 month already.  I'm thinking she'll be tall like her brother.
I'm off to meet some of the ladies from guild.  We're going to Franklin, NC for lunch and a couple of quilt shop shopping.  I don't need to spend the money but, what the hey.
Y'all have a dry day (it's been raining off and on for two days now) and remember:  life may be just a bowl of cherries but you have to watch out for the pits.

Thursday, January 19, 2012

It's off to the gallery today.  Had a very pleasant day with daughter and grandkids yesterday.  Daughter was able to get on the  'net and get some "work" done as well.  She brought the youngest's laundry since their dryer is on the fritz and they don't have the way with to fix it.  I told her she could come up anytime, if needed.
I also told her that while I'm on my trip they could come up and stay a couple of days if they wanted.  Change of scenery and all that.  If J comes up he could get some chainsaw work done.  That would be very nice.  All those dang sweet gums.
Only a couple of weeks before I start packing.  Yay!  Can't wait to get out of here for a while.  The weather here is driving me crazy.  Night before last we had a really heavy downpour.  I was expecting the pond overflow pipe to be blocked so I went down yesterday.  Surprise!  Water was flowing nicely and there was very little to clear away.  Hope it stays that way.  The folks who are responsible for the big pond have some work cut out for them.  I saw that that pipe is almost totally under water.  They're going to need to do something or the water is going to keep rising.  I can't stop the water from flowing that way, not do I want to.  Ah well, it's their problem, not mine.

It's off to quilt guild today.  Before that I plan to run some errands.  After guild it'll be knit group.  Went to WW yesterday.  I'm still at -17 lbs.  Hope to get to 20 before I leave on my trip.  I'm determined to get down to 140 by the time I get back by walking a minimum of 1 mile a day while on board ship.  Also while on board I'll start planning for next year.  That may sound early but it really isn't.
Looks like it wants to rain today.  It's already 57 outside.  Geesh, can't make up its mind.  Hot or cold?  I'd rather cold with the sun out, thank you.  I need sunshine!!  (and just as I wrote this it started to rain.)
Hopefully daughter will be coming up tomorrow.  Always nice to see her and the kiddies.  And she'll be able to get on the 'net while here since she doesn't have it at her house.
Have some things to do and errands to run before guild so I'll bid you a good day and y'all remember:  Life is just one damned thing after another....Elber Hubbard

Today is the reception at the botanical garden in Athens to kick off our quilt exhibit.  All the quilts have something to do with nature.  Mostly flowers but some also have birds.  I've made some meringues instead of cookies.  I'm sure there will be enough of those (cookies, I mean).  While it's going on I may just get to see some of the indoor garden.  I can't see me standing around for 2 hours.  There'll be enough of the guild members there to answer questions.  So....I guess I'd better get a move on and get some things done around here before leaving for there.

Y'all have a quiet day and consider:  afterism (n) - a concise, clever statement you don't think of until too late.....John Alexander Thom

I see blue sky!  Wonder how long that will last?  Had some fierce wind last night and omg I see snow flakes!  It's really cold out there so the flakes are small, but I see 'em.  Snow?  Geesh.  Don't think we'll get enough to cover the ground.
Going in to the gallery.  Working on the challenge square for the cruise.  I need some inspiration on what to do with the outline of Panama.  I don't want to make it gaudy but at least noticeable.  I'll think of something.
It's gonna be a good day today so.........remember the good times.

Rain, thunder, lightning....when will this crummy weather end?  It is an ugly day and just because I wanted to sleep in Cleo decided that I wouldn't.  I did get in an extra 30 minutes just because I refused to get up when she wanted me to.
Daughter may or may not come up today.  I enjoy her company but I miss US.  We used to be able to do so much together but not now.  Maybe when the baby is older she can get a free day now and then.  I look forward to that time.
Because of the weather I know I'll have to go down to the pond when it clears to work on clearing the pipe.
I'm going to sign off.....lightning.

Our quilt guild has been invited to have an exhibit at the Athens Botanical Garden and some of us will be headed that way today to hang the 40 or so quilts for it.  I've never been to the Garden so it will be an experience.  We'll be having a reception on the 15th so if anyone reading this is local, come on by.  I will have a small piece on exhibit but it won't be for sale since I messed up the label on the back.  Besides, I think it will look good hanging in my house.
Outside looks like one of those scary movie sets.  There's a ground fog and bare trees.  All it needs is sound effects.
I'll be a happy camper if the sun shines today.  It's been gray too long.
Guess I'll get a move on.  Have to meet the group in an hour.  Y'all have a bright day and remember:  don't let your cat think outside the box.

Monday, January 9, 2012

A downpour, absolute deluge, woke me up too early.  I was able to go back to snooze.  Then Cleo decided it was time for me to GET UP.  It's a gray ucky day.
WW day and then it's off to try to collect some prizes I won in the Hometown Neighbor magazine thing.  Amazingly I only signed up at two of the sponsors.  Wow....and I never win.  At any rate we'll see what there is.
Cleo is telling me it's time to play.  I guess I'll do that for a little while before showering and getting myself gathered for the rest of the day.
Y'all have a sunny type day and remember:  If idiots grew on trees, Congress would be a forest.

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Yay!  I finished my knitted wrap yesterday.  Now all I have to do is tuck in the ends and block it.  It was a struggle but I was determined to get it done.  Guess I'll go ahead and block it today then work on some other things that need finishing.  I have sewing to do for sure and a few errands to run.
Looks like it may be a blah kind of day.  Perfect for doing indoor stuff.  Y'all have a GOOD day and remember:  make like a Timex....if you take a lickin' keep on tickin'.

Not much to say today (aren't you lucky?).  I'll repeat something Kyddryn said in her blog Shade and Sweetwater.....
It says freedom of, not freedom from.
'nuf said.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Slept in today.  Odd to wake up with the sun already up and shining bright.  Guess Miss Cleo decided to be kind.
Going to my grandson's 9th birthday party today.  It's at Chuck E Cheese.  Say a prayer for me.
Bought a new mattress set for the guest room yesterday.  Had a coupon for a significant amount off and it was needed, so why not?  Will get one for me in the near future.
Am making progress on the wrap I'm knitting.  I may even get it finished in time for my trip next month (lol).  I have to really be concentrating when I'm working on it since those pesky yarn overs seem to be forgotten every once in a while and taking out 291 stitches, after it's discovered in the next row, and of course the mistake is way at the beginning, is not fun.
Guess I'll get to it, whatever it is.  Y'all have a sunny day and remember:  cats rule.

Sunday, January 1, 2012

New Year's day.  For some it signals new beginnings, others make resolutions they'll never keep but hope to.  To me, it's just another day but with a different date.  I resolved many years ago not to make any resolutions.  It's one I've kept.
My daughter is going through a tough time right now.  I imagine she believes that this year will be as bad as the last.  While my heart hurts I can do no more than what I do now.  She has a house to live in, electricity and water, and her car insurance is paid up for 6 months.  It's going to be up to her and her "someone" to pull themselves out of the hole.  It's going to take a lot to get their phones and internet turned back on.  Meanwhile we are without communication with one another unless we use the U.S. mail or drive to one another's home.
Enough of that.  Today is the day I'm taking down the tree and the lights outside.  Laundry awaits as usual and I have some sewing projects to work on.
Y'all have a quiet day and I hope you didn't drink too much last night/this morning.  Remember:  this is your chance to begin anew, so if you have some habit, etc. you want to get rid of, this is the time to do it.  Just make sure you really want to or it will end in futility and frustration.  (Geesh, did I really write that?!)
