Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

Went to the dentist first thing this morning to check out the tooth (part of which broke off). Turns out that it is a porcelain crown and will have to be replaced. He was ready to do that this morning. I wasn't. I told him I'd like to wait until I had money so the first step will be done next month and the final step when they get back from their 3 week vacation. He recommeded gold. I said no...replace it with porcelain. With the cost of gold as it is I can just picture the cost. They say it's the same as porcelain. Hmmmmm. I'll stick with the porcelain. Less chance of someone trying to pry that crown out of my mouth...lol.
It's gonna be a hot one. Worse predicted for tomorrow. Don't guess I'll get much work done outside unless I get up way early. Think I'll just relax today.
Y'all stay cool and remember: It's the friends you can call up at 4:00 a.m. that matter.

strange

This is strange. Blogger won't let me sign out and believe me I've tried. In one sense it's great to click on favorites and get right to the dashboard but in another it's spooky that I can't sign out. Plus the fact that when I click on publish post nothing happens and I have to go to "return to list of posts" put a check next to the most recent post then go down to 'publish'. Geesh. And I'd be willing to be that just when I get used to all this it'll return to its normal self.
Don't know if things are beginning to look up at the gallery but we have had some sales these last few days. With the "season" starting this weekend we are keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully we can get some signs done and placed where people can actually see them.
It's memorial day weekend. While I understand that we should remember those who have fallen so that we may be free, I think it would also be nice to remembe those who are no longer with us that have had a positive influence on us. What say you?

Can't get in touch with daughter. No she isn't missing, she doesn't have phone, internet, or tv. Unfortunately she couldn't pay the bill and this time I couldn't help her. To add to the chaos, one of the neighbor's Bradford pear trees fell on the cargo trailer they need to use in three weeks, punching holes in it. I told her that it was a good time to cut all those gd trees down. The only upside of the event is that now it isn't blocking the satellite dish for the tv which she can't watch 'cause she couldn't pay the bill. Unfortunately she has one of those bundle deals and can't get out of it since she has no credit to set up separate accounts.
Sooooooo, if you would be so kind as to send postive thoughts her way (it's Kyddryn). it would be much appreciated.
Y'all have a peaceful weekend and please remember those who have given the greatest sacrifice so that we could be free (at least for now).

Natter

Had a good day yesterday. Nothing strenuous. Did some sewing and probably will again today. Went to Lowe's to order a stove for daughter. Their installer has to go measure just to make sure the stove I picked out will fit. Stopped at the market to pick up a few things. It's that time of year where I like to have yogurt and fruit for lunch. Woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour so I plan to take a nap this afternoon. Think I'll take it easy again today. It's gonna be too hot to do much outside. Did get garden watered yesterday evening. Plan on doing the same this evening. Going to pick up more carp for my pond in the morning. That'll make 6. Next time the stockers come around I'll get 6 making the total 12. Although they may not nosh on the water lilies right now I'm hoping they decimate them in the spring when the lilies are just beginning to come up.
Y'all have a pleasant day and remember: four things you can't recover: the stone after the throw; the word after it's said; the occasion after it's missed and; the time after it's gone.

Hmmmm

Hmmmm....a day off. What to do, what to do. It's too hot to work outside at the moment. I slept in for once and it was already in the 70's in the shade when I looked out at the thermometer. Perhaps some indoor chores or even, maybe, something I want to do instead of something that I should do. Yeah, I think I'll go with that today. I'll have to venture out later to the market as the milk was just turning sour and I've run out of coffee creamer. Nothing like trying to eat cereal with slightly soured milk. I gave up and had a fresh peach instead. Speaking of fresh, there's a you pick strawberry place not far away. I may go there later and see how much it is. Maybe get enough to make some more strawberry soup.
Y'all have a clear day and

Well, I'm still here and if you are reading this so are you. Had a busy, tiring day at the gallery today and a busy, tiring day putting up deer fencing yesterday. I've missed y'all. It's hard to get on the larger computer, where I can actually read stuff, when family is here. I can get on my mini, but the screen is small and there usually isn't much time before I have to go to the gallery or get outside and get something done while it's still cool.
The deer fence is up! Thanks to J, my daughter's Someone. Now all that's left is the little critter fencing that goes at the bottom of the deer fence to keep out rabbits and such. The squash and okra growing ever so slowly can now grow without fear of deer (and hopefully smaller critters) eating them. The deer fence is truly invisible when you look at it with the woods in the background. I think if I ran into something like it I would think twice about trying to jump it. Hope the deer feel the same way.
I'm tired so I'll say good night. Have a GOOD night and I hope you remembered that this was also Armed Forces day and that you thanked everyone you know who serve(d

Haven't written in a while as I get frustrated with how to get the dang thing to post. Besides, I've been busy. Had family up here and although we wanted to get some stuff done the yard faeries decided we should rest instead. The lawnmower wouldn't start and various and sundry other stuff got in the way. Hopefully the next time they are up we can get something done and the weather will cooperate to boot.
I have digger bees. If you've never seen one they look a little like honey bees. They made tunnels in the clay under my porch. They're pollinators and supposedly don't sting (I'm not taking that chance). Anyway I called the exterminator to find out what they were 'cause I didn't know and they appeared all of the sudden. He called another exterminator and found out what they were. Apparently mine was the second call he got about them and he'd never seen them before either. There must have been over 200 holes. Did something about them (and before you get all up in arms I had to because of my grandson). There are still a few left and I'll leave them alone. I want to see how long they stick around.
Will be busy the next few days. Lots of things going on but I won't bore you with the details. Probably nothing you'd be interested in anyway.
Y'all have a good evening and remember: Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Chores

Got some cleaning done yesterday as well as the rest of the laundry. I haven't put on the AC yet so I had to put on a headband to keep the sweat from my eyes. It was warm yesterday! Looks like it's going to be that way today, too. I still have a bunch of "stuff" to do.
Last night I had to turn on the AC upstairs for my room. It was 83 up there and not a good temperature for sleeping. I knew it would cool down during the night (it went down to 60) but that wouldn't be until the wee morning hours and I wanted to go to sleep sooner than that. There's not much worse than sweaty sheets. Ugh.
Going to go get more bird food. The finches have totalled their little sack feeders. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather holds so J can come up and maybe, just maybe, we can get the fence completed.
Y'all have a comfortable day and remember: If you don't dream you'll never know if they come true.

Don't know what's going on with this place but it's really driving me nuts. One day it remembers me when I go to sign in and the next it doesn't. Wish it would make up its mind.
Hope to get some things accomplished today. Laundry, cleaning, maybe some planting.
Y'all have a good day and: What's the difference between an accordion and an onion?
...No one cries when you cut up an accordion.

Haven't had much chance to get on the 'puter since family was here for a couple of days. J and I were able to get the gate for the garden put together and those things the posts got in driven into the ground yesterday. J did most of the hard stuff, like pounding those things into the ground with my sledgehammer. Next time they're up he and I will, hopefully, get the poles in and the fence up. Then it's on to creating beds. Probably raised beds. There's some squash coming up in the area that I dug up the iris from and maybe some okra so we need to get everything finished so the deer or other critters can't get to them.
Have been able to enjoy a strawberry or two from the plants out on the porch. Yum. And there are tiny lettuce plants coming up in the planter out there. 'Course they'll all be ready at once so some friends and family may benefit since one can only eat so much lettuce.
It's off to the gallery today. Need to make some more crocheted necklaces as they seem popular. They consitute most of my sales.
Y'all have a pretty day and enjoy.

In the pond

The fish are in the pond. I found out, however, when I went to pick them up that 3 are not nearly enough for the size pond I have. Guess I'll get more the next time these people come around. In the meantime the ones that are in the pond will have a feast.....I hope.
Don't know what's going on the this site, but I've been having trouble getting my posts to post. I click on publish post and it doesn't. Then I have to fool around with the editing site and eventually I highlight the right thing and it publishes. Geesh. Why can't they leave things alone?
And....now when I go to sign in it suddenly remembers who I am. For the longest time I had to type everything in every time I wanted to sign in. Go figure.
Well, I'm off to the gallery in hopes of getting something done. Y'all have a grand day and .... think good thoughts.

Carp

I'm going to pick up my grass carp this morning. Hope they like my pond and clean it up. The stuff I tried to kill the water lilies hasn't worked so maybe the carp will like them and eat them away. I'm glad I saw the advertisement in the paper and called the people in Arkansas. The fish aren't that expensive and we'll see how well three of them do.
Why do people think that now that bin Laden is gone things will calm down? Another is just going to take his place.
Why can't congress get its head out of its butt and realize that spending more than its income is fiscally irresponsible? If the countries we have borrowed from call in their debts we are in deep doo-doo.
Why do we still send money to other countries instead of taking care of our own? If there is a natural disaster like that in Japan I can understand it, but otherwise......
Guess I'm just full of questions this morning.
Y'all have a thoughtful day and remember: Insanity is subjective.

Today is the day of my annual physical. Went in earlier for the blood work (no breakfast, but I took coffee). Every year I have to fill out this ridiculous form with questions like "Have you had intercourse in the last year?....How many sexual partners have you had in your lifetime?....Do you own a gun?" Needless to say some questions went unanswered.
I'll go back in about an hour so they can tell me I'm still alive.
Because the day is being broken up by appointments I'm not sure what I'll get accomplished. Some laundry maybe. Some sewing maybe. Since it's supposed to rain and looks like it's going to, I'll refrain from yard work.
I wonder why people think that because bin Laden has been killed that things will change?
And why do some people say Obama bin Laden instead of Osama? Yes, a slip of the tongue, but interesting. No more comments on that.
Y'all have a calm day and remember: You're never too old for nap time.
