I'm back from my week in Sanibel with my sister. The week went by too quickly and I wish we were still there. I think my sister feels the same way. This is the first time we have spent any time together, just the two of us. It was great! We went down to the beach early in the morning to catch low tide. That way we could find more shells that had been washed up. Sanibel is famous for shelling. We both found a lot of shells...so many that we shipped them home in one of the "all you can put in it for one price" boxes. No way could either of us have brought them all home in our suitcases. The only down side to the shelling was the chaffing on my feet from sand and water getting into my sandals. Luckily there are now waterproof bandaids. I had many on both feet. The last day I went I decided to tough it out and went barefoot. Needless to say the bottoms of my feet weren't happy since I don't go barefoot at home. Also, I found out that the calves of my legs are way out of shape. After the first day of walking in the sand they hurt....oh how they hurt. It wasn't until the last day that I could get up from a chair and walk without groaning. I know of an exercise that will keep those muscles in tune so I'm going to try to do them every day. We plan to go back again next year, maybe a little later in the year say, March, when it will hopefully be a bit warmer at sunrise. It was quite chilly while there especially with the wind. Also we may stay longer. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all the shells. I'll thing of something. I did find something quite interesting....the skeleton of a crucifix fish. It looks like Jesus on the cross (I kid you not). And the rattle represents the dice the Romans played with (these are pieces of bone that helped the fish keep its equilibrium). Anyway, look it up if you want to know more.
Meantime....have a super day.

Where I've Been
It's been a couple of weeks since I've been online. I've been away. In Indonesia on a cruise. It was nice and hot and humid. Very hot and humid and, despite the fact that it was during rainy season, very non-rainy. Yes, I was in Jakarta....but a week before the poo-poo hit the oscillator. We had to bypass Surabaya because of it. That was to be our last port of call. Just as well as the good food and drink finally got to my lower gut. All in all a great trip and I learned a lot about the art of making batik. I even brought back some of the instruments used for such. I tried my hand in Samarang but the results are not good. Lots of places where the wax blobbed (is that a word?). Singapore is quite the city/state. Lots of places to see and two half days are not enough. Our last night there we did a great tour. All those lights! Will tell more about the trip in the future. Right now I really need to get my nails looked after.

Away
I won't be here for a while. I'm heading far, far away for a couple of weeks so I won't be reading any of you. I will have email if you want to keep in touch. Hope y'all stay healthy while I'm gone. Blessings..... silvina@aol.com

OMG, the sun shines!
It's been raining here....a LOT. This morning, though, the sun shines if only for a short while since we're supposed to get MORE rain. We are about 16 inches above the yearly average. To see the sun gladdens my heart. What also gladdens my heart is the fact that I'll be taking a trip shortly to where it's sunny and warm and far, far away. These next few days will be busy deciding what to take, making sure bills are paid, and doing some housekeeping. I'm going to the place my parents honeymooned ever so long ago. While I know the place(s) have changed it will still be a memorable trip. I'll take lots of photos and will try to post some so you know where I went. Meanwhile, y'all have a blessed day.

News wanted
There are a few people I follow here. Unfortunately if something goes wrong I have no way of finding out what it is or how that person is. I don't have emails or such for relatives or friends. I do know that one is in the VA and if his baby sis could let me know how he is doing I'd appreciate it very much.
