Baby, it's cold outside. I looked at the thermometer when I got up and shivered. The pointer was sitting on 30. So the heaters are now on on the back porch in hopes that the plants don't freeze. I'd hate to kill my daughter's sheffelehra (sp?) that doesn't like me anyway. That and the cactus that wants to take over the porch. Guess I'm gonna have to dress warm when I go out.
I kinda feel sorry for the folks that are taking part in the Arts and Crafts Festival today. It's going to be a bit nippy. But at least the sun is out so it may warm up to about 50. Glad I decided not to take part in it. Besides, I hate having to collect sales tax. That's why I'm at the gallery and the co-op. They get to do that for me.
I don't know why the tree rats, I mean squirrels, think they should sharpen their teeth on my porch railing. They should find a nice tree or something. Doesn't my shooting at them give them a clue that I disapprove?
Well, onward and upward (Wonder where that saying came from. Hey, Hermit Jim, you're good at finding this kinda stuff out. How about it?).
Stay warm and answer me this: What would Scooby do?

Hey Mom lady...I found this little bit of information about that saying for ya!
"I believe that Zane Grey popularized the phrase "onwards and upwards", from an original 19th century hymn titled "onward upward" by Fanny Crosby, 1876:
"Onward! upward! Christian soldier, Turn not back nor sheath thy sword,"
However, the phrase "onward and upward" appears to have entered the popular vernacular by Zane Gray from this book "The Rainbow trail (1915) we see:
"The great colored reaches and steps had led endlessly onward and upward through dim and deceiving distance . . . "
Hope that's useful! Have a glorious day!
Ha! HermitJim beat me to it! lol!
