Hi there.....

So kind of you to stop by....I do enjoy the company.

Friday, December 31, 2010

Ahhhh, New Year's eve approaches. A time for some people to party, get drunk and sometimes get killed or kill while driving that way. I really don't see what all the hooplah is about. It is merely changing the year on the date on the check you have to write to pay bills. I guess it's about the hope people have that the coming year will be better than the last. For those who think it will be....may you be right.
I'll be home tonight. I don't go out for fear of those who drive DUI. I'll probably watch a little TV and go to bed around 10:00. Yeah, I know, pitiful. At the moment I have nothing to celebrate and the same old, same old to look forward to in the future. A granddaughter will be arriving in late January and yes, I do look forward to that. I also look forward to the trip I'll be taking in February (it can't come too soon). Other than that, well.......
Y'all have a safe New Year's eve and remember: Everything is connected.

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Except in itty bitty patches here and there the snow is gone. We're supposed to get rain today. I'll be going to the gallery for the last time. Will be doing some final book work and pulling my items to take over to the co-op. I'd like to go to the final New Year's day tea, but that's the day of my daughter's baby shower which is more important to me. It's going to seem strange to not be going to the gallery every Thursday. Instead I'll be going to the co-op which is much closer thankfully. With the price of gas these days that's a good thing.
My grandson's birthday is this coming Monday. My daughter is taking him to MickyD's so he can play with his friends. Sorry, sweetie, you'll have to go without me. It seems the older I get the less I like small children, especially in groups. I have a friend who has expressed the same sentiment so at least I'm not alone. I'll take his gifts down on Saturday when I pick up daughter to go to the shower.
Y'all have a momentous day and.....something to ponder......how do they get the Tootsie Roll into the lollipop?

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

It's a little warmer today and supposed to be warmer tomorrow with the chance of rain. The snow is mostly gone except in places where it's shady all day......like on one spot on the road that is an uphill approach from my house to the other road. Hope it doesn't freeze after the rain, then we'll really have a problem. My solution is to gun it as I approach the uphill section and pray no one is approaching the intersection 'cause I don't stop. I've only had to stop once at the bottom to let "traffic" (2 vehicles) go by.
Doing mundane stuff today. Getting the van serviced this morning. Mayhap cleaning house this afternoon. Such excitement.
Y'all have a ____________ (insert your own adjective here) day and remember: Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only backwards and in HIGH HEELS.

Monday, December 27, 2010

It's just a bit nippy here. High 20's and not promising to get any warmer. At least the sun is shining. That may warm things up a bit. I hear chunks of ice sliding down the roof. Don't know if J is going to open the co-op today. Really don't feel like going in. Want to get the house back in order. Daughter called to tell me about a fire near her home last night. Also that she had to go to the power company to beg. I can't help her this time. I feel bad about it but I just can't afford it right now. My wish for the new year is that her Someone can find a job. I wouldn't be surprised if that was his wish also.
Y'all have a pleasant day and remember: He who hesitates may not necessarily be lost, just trying to choose the right path.

White Christmas

I tried to get on the computer yesterday but it was snowing hard enough to block the satellite signal. We had a white Christmas! The first since 1862....I think. Sometime around then. At any rate I stayed in and stayed warm. Did some sewing and laundry (had already celebrated our holiday on Tuesday the 21st), knitted some and watched the tele. A nice lazy day all to myself. Spoke with my brother and my sister (one in Florida the other in Missouri). My brother was by himself since the "kids" were spending this Christmas with in-laws. Next year it'll be his turn to have them. My sister had her daughter and her brood there as well as her male friend and his mother. Chaos ruled.
I'm off to my son's today. He and family will be heading across the pond tomorrow to spend three weeks in jolly old England. They shouldn't have any trouble getting out since the snow didn't extend that far south of here. 'Course that could change, weather being capricious and all.
Hopefully everyone had a good day and able to celebrate with family and/or friends.
Have a quiet, restful day y'all and be glad that the sun is returning and days will be longer.

So nice

The family has gone and the house is quiet. But what a lovely Solstice we had. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the full eclipse due to cloud cover but we did get to see some of it. I went to bed well before the full coverage as I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I had a bit of a problem actually going to sleep and remember looking at the clock and seeing 2:57 and thinking maybe I could get up for the last few minutes. Next thing I know it's morning. Obviously I didn't miss it.

Yule day we had a wonderful fire to welcome back the sun. It was a bit damp outside but that was good as it meant none of the leaves or grass surrounding the fire would catch. It would have been cool to be able to burn at night (which is the proper time)however night fires are prohibited here. By the way, I'm very proud I was able to put these two pictures in this blog after having been given a lesson by daughter.

Watching everyone open their gifts was a pleasure. It really is better to give than receive. My grandson was very happy. And he gets to celebrate Christmas with his Dad. Wow. Two holidays! I love having the family here and hopefully they will be able to be here full time within the next few years. Now it's off to bake some brownies for a birthday celebration tomorrow.

Have a lovely day and blessed be.

Testing...testing

just practicing

I'm learning (trying to) how to put stuff where I want it. So bear with me and ignore this blog.
Thanks!
this is a test of learning skills.....mine

Woohoo!

Wow! Everything worked this morning. No message saying "Windows Internet Explorer cannot display the page." Hmmmm.....wonder if someone from Microsoft read my complaint yesterday. Or maybe the gremlins within the program don't want to get tossed.
We actually had some business at the co-op yesterday. Yippeee! I'll not be going in after today until Friday. This morning is going to be dedicated to getting some cleaning done since family is coming up tomorrow. It'll be busy around here for the next few days so I may not get to the computer until after Solstice. I'll let you know how it went. I'm looking forward to the company and the bonfire. If it isn't raining or cloudy I might even get up to watch the full moon eclipse.
Y'all have a wonderful next few days and remember: Live so your memories will be part of your happiness.

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Grrrrr

I have had to restart my computer 3 times....3 times! this morning because Windows Internet Explorer "cannot display this page". Including this particular page. The problem is definitely not getting better. I WILL do something about it after the holidays. Vista will be gone. For that matter I think Windows will be gone. Time to try someone new.
It's a snow sky out there but it may be too warm for snow. Doesn't matter....it's just a gray day.
Y'all have a brighter day and remember: masquerading day after day as a normal person is exhausting.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

It's a balmy 31 degrees and raining. Positively depressing. I'd rather it be cold and clear. Because it is hovering around the freezing mark I'm hoping the roads don't get slick. I'm supposed to go to the gallery today and we're celebrating birthdays. I've made brownies and don't want them to go to waist ...um...I mean waste.
Looks like all the preparations for Solstice are accomplished on this end. All that's needed now is the burn permit and that can be had the day before. I don't think the rain will dampen the rather large wood pile to the point of it not burning.
Nothing more to say today. Y'all have a good day and remember: We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Done!

Yay. All packages that had to be sent out of town are now on their various ways. Now all I have to do is finish up the goody boxes and get them delivered. That's today's goal.
Daughter came up yesterday with her packages and we went to UPS after which I treated her to lunch. It was nice being together. I love my grandson to death but it's nice sometime to not have to give attention to a young 'un while trying to have adult conversations.
It's cold again this morning. Wonder when this cold front is going to leave. Looks like rain today. Just hope it isn't freezing rain which plays havoc on the roads, especially since most people here don't know how to drive in the stuff. I'd prefer snow. Actually I'd prefer sunshine and warmth but.....
Guess I'd better get a move on if I want too get anything accomplished. Y'all have a scrumptious day and remember: if you aren't the lead reindeer the view is always the same.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Wow....9 degrees this morning. Definitely ice on the pond. Clear sky, sun shining. Don't think it's going to get too warm today so long johns are definitely going on. Now have all gifts to be sent finished and ready to ship. Except the quilt which will be finished this morning as soon as I get my butt in gear which I'm going to do right now so y'all have a toasty warm day and remember: light travels faster than sound. That's why some people seem bright until you hear them speak.

Monday, December 13, 2010

All of 16 degrees this morning. Brrrr. At least we didn't lose power. I might have stayed in bed under my nice warm comforter if we had.
Drove to a surprise birthday party last night...in the snowstorm, on icy roads. No big deal really. I've driven in that stuff before. Of course there were a lot of expletives let loose at the other drivers who DON'T know how to drive in the stuff. The roads had been sanded by the time I drove back home so it wasn't bad at all. All I can say is: if you don't know how to drive in the stuff and don't have to go anywhere....don't. Stay home.
Co-op's closed today so I might get some things done. Wrapped gifts yesterday and have everything ready to ship....almost. A few things to finish and I should get everything out tomorrow. Gonna make more meringues and maybe, just maybe get some ornaments on the tree. Oh, wait....I have that quilt to finish. Sigh.
It's the start of a hectic week.
Y'all have a creative day and remember: Artists make poor slaves.

Sunday, December 12, 2010

We had rain. Wish it had been snow. It's cold enough for it. Looks like the sun is trying to show its face. That would be loverly. Think I might get some decorations on the tree today before heading out. Meringues will have to wait until tomorrow. Also need to get some gifts wrapped and ready to send out. Sigh....so little time.
Y'all have a productive day and ....remember: going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Slept in this morning. Taking my time getting going. Went to a party last night that was much fun. Met artists I didn't know and chatted with some I did. Drank two small glasses of C's "almost famous" sangria and switched to water after that as I wanted to be able to drive home (the sangria was killer!). All in all everyone had a good time and the food was great. Unfortunately one of the artists forgot to turn off her car and when she went to leave there was a big problem. Don't know what the problem was but did see smoke coming out from the engine compartment. Luckily one of the partygoers lives close and could give a ride home. Hopefully the problem can be fixed and she can get her car home today. (No comments about female drivers, y'all. This lady is almost totally deaf and was probably distracted, therefore not hearing she hadn't turned off the engine. She's also one of the sweetest persons you could meet.)
Must pay bills this morning (yuck) then it's off to the co-op this afternoon. Am going to try to get gifts wrapped before I go. Have to get packages off to those who live out of state.
Guess I'd better get a move on. Y'all have a lovely day and ponder this: Hospitality - making your guests feel like they're at home even if you wish they were.

Success

Spent the night at Casa de Crazy so daughter and I could go get a bureau (chest of drawers) for Sprout. Success! Actually it isn't a chest of drawers (bureau) at all but an entertainment stand with drawers. It's the perfect height, has an opening just below the top for diapers, etc. and has drawers to store clothes and such. It's also sturdy. A might expensive, but if it survives her childhood it will have been well worth.
Also went to buy a Christmas tree. Grandson picked out a good one but was more interested in feeding the rabbits and goats.
I came home so I could get ready for a party tonight. I'd really like to take a nap but no such luck. Must shower and all that stuff as well as re-stock the meringue container to take with.
Tomorrow morning is pay bill time (groan) before heading off to the co-op.

Y'all have a great weekend and remember: A diplomat is someone who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you will look forward to the trip.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

The outside thermometer registered all of 19 this morning. The heat pump is making a valiant effort to keep up but can't without running continuously. I don't like heat pumps. They might work well in Florida or Southern California, but not here. Whenever the temperature goes below 32 they simply can't keep up. It doesn't matter if I have the thermostat set at 66 or 68. If I ever build another house I'm heating with propane. But then I plan to have radiant heat flooring which will help a lot. When my feet are warm, I'm warm. If I ever build another house.
Have beaucoup to do so I'm off (what else is new?) and running (?). Have a glamorous day and remember: you don't need a parachute to skydive; you only need one to skydive twice.

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Wow, only 19 degrees this morning. Maybe my pond will freeze over and kill the lilies that refuse to die no matter what I do. Poor fish aren't going to be able to see the sun pretty soon.
I've started on the peppermint meringues and will try to get a batch done today even though there are other things to do, like doctor appointment, errands etc..
Bought the tree yesterday and it's in the house waiting to be decorated. Maybe I can try to get started on that tonight. Time seems to be flying by and I feel like I'm going backwards. So much to do and so little time.
Y'all have a quiet day and remember: We never really grow up; we just learn how to act in public.

Monday, December 6, 2010

Cold again this morning. Wonder if it's going to be one of those long cold winters (which are somewhat rare in this neck of the woods). If so I'd better keep my piggy bank full so I can pay the power bill. At least the sun is shining so it'll probably go up into the 40's. I've taken this week off from the co-op in order to get all my baking done for the hols; presents finished, wrapped and sent; tree bought and decorated; house cleaned. Also want to go with daughter to look for a chest of drawers for Sprout's room. May do that this coming Sunday since the place is open that day.
Onward and upward as the saying goes (wonder where that come from?). Y'all have a comfortable day and ponder this: why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

A bit of history

When I bought this property I was given a plat map showing each lot, etc. On the map was a line called the Blair Line. (It now goes through the middle of my cabin.) When I asked what it was I was told that it is the survey line of the survey done by a man by the name a Blair who was commissioned by the government to determine what land would go to the native americans (who were happily settled on farms in this area, thank you very much) and what land would go to the the new settlers. Wellllll, the government thought it should take it all and that was the start of the Trail of Tears. This is a very shortened version of what transpired but it should suffice. Anyway....when I found out the history of this place I decided to let the spirits who reside around here know that I was only the keeper of the land and would do my best. I also have what is known as "trail trees" on my property. These trees were indicators to native travelers of where water, safety or the next village were. Some even had hidey holes to put stuff in. I've never found a hidey hole nor will any native american disclose where they are. Many of such trees have been cut down to make room for roads, etc.. A shame but at least there is a small book out about them with pictures and some history. I'm glad to have them here and will never willingly cut one down.
Well, that's your "history" lesson for the day. Y'all have a good one and remember: The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.

The blankety-blank Windows Vista is at it again. I'm so tired of seeing Windows Internet Explorer cannot display the web page. It happens often with this particular site. Grrrrr. Just when someone posts a video or some good thing or I want to comment. Double grrrrr. I have to go out, shut down and restart. Most time consuming.
At any rate I really don't have anything else to say except I'd better get my butt in gear and make a batch of meringues before I head to the co-op.
Y'all have a great day and remember: Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.

Friday, December 3, 2010

Received my checks yesterday from the gallery and co-op. I actually made some money at the co-op! The gallery check was under $10. Glad I don't have to make a living doing jewelry. It's a beautiful day but cold. I'll be making meringues this morning then going to the co-op this afternoon. Because I have knitting group tonight I won't get another batch made today. Maybe I can get a couple done tomorrow. I can only do two batches a day since it takes about a total of 3 hours for one batch. And some people wonder why I only make them this time of year!
Hermit Jim at Coffee with the Hermit wrote about quilts. I have one in the making that I must finish so I can send it out to my niece. I have a number of unfinished projects that need to be done also. Maybe during the winter I can get some of them done. I need to get my basement more organized and finishing them will help.
Time to get a move on...y'all stay warm and dry and remember: You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Thursday, December 2, 2010

In the 20's this morning. Brrrrrr. Clear though and that's good. After we had the deluge the other day I wasn't sure it would dry out. The trenches are still in my driveway.....sigh. I suppose I should get out there and try to fill them back in but it's COLD. Besides, I'm off to the gallery today. Don't know what the heck I'm going to work on. Nothing is selling. If I do get a check for any sale for last month it'll be piddling little. Glad I don't have to count on it for my living!
The friend I allow to hunt in my woods (he uses only a bow) got a deer yesterday. Hope I get some venison for the freezer. It was a young buck. He didn't see the little nubbins that would have been antlers. When I went out to see it I said a silent thank you to it for providing food. I think anyone who hunts just for the antlers should have their gun taken away. Hopefully he will get a doe as they are too many in this area and they need to be culled.
I'm off (always) and not running to slowly get ready for the day. Speaking of which you have a happy one and remember: Keep your butt in the car...the world is not your ashtray.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

I have trenches in my driveway. That's right, trenches. It rained so hard yesterday afternoon that the water etched them in the gravel. I was away from home at the time but knew that it was possible 'cause where I was you could hear the wind whistling and see the rain being blown sideways along with the trees. At least no one can speed coming in. It's semi clear today and the wind should dry things out a bit. Yesterday afternoon I went down to the pond to make sure the overflow pipe was clear. Lots of leaves and other detritus had to be cleared away even though the screen wasn't blocked. Man, the water was cold!
Going to get some things done today hopefully. Was going to go to JoAnn's with daughter to get some card supplies but have to cancel that since I'm so broke I can't pay attention right now. It'll have to wait another week. Sorry, sweetie.
Received an email saying that Obama wants to include and honor Hanoi Jane in some award ceremony for America's top 100 women. What!!!!???? That b**** is a traitor and, as far as I'm concerned, shouldn't be allowed to live in this country. Younger people may not know what she did but I remember. She came to a neighboring town to give a talk and, although I was invited, I refused to go. I knew that if she came close to me I'd probably spit on her. She thinks those of us who live in the south all go barefoot and live in shacks.
(Deep calming breath) I'll calm down now.
Y'all have a gracious day and remember: In every deliberation we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.....great law of the Iroquois confederacy.

Monday, November 29, 2010

It's Monday. Again. Where did the last week go? I swear time is passing more quickly and life is just flying by.
I'm trying to get ready for the hols but it feels like I'm never going to get there. I must, MUST start making the meringues tomorrow. And bring up the decorations from the basement. And start decorating the house. And cleaning. And planning meals. Arrrrrgh!!
At least I don't have to go shopping.

Y'all have a quiet day and remember: Time flies when you are completely bewildered.

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Sunny, but.....

The sun shines but baby, it's cold outside. In the 20's this morning when I got up. Glad the sun is out. Makes it much more palatable.
I believe I did the wise thing yesterday. I did....not.....go.....shopping. I dislike crowds anyway. I certainly don't like all the pushing and shoving, foul language, grabbing, etc. that seems to go on. What on earth gets into people? A friend of mine told me her daughter went out at 9:00 Thursday night and didn't get home until 9:00 Friday morning and couldn't even remember what she had bought!
Guess it's time to start thinking about decorating for Winter Solstice. We celebrate it at my house then my grandson spends Christmas with his dad. I'll look for a tree some time this week I reckon. Don't want a huge one. Don't have room for one.
Need to get a move on. When do you start decorating for your holiday?

Y'all have a sunny day and remember: Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Because I have the luxury of not having to cook today I thought I could at least take the time to say "Thank you" to all of you in the blue nowhere who have followed my drivel this last year. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Aren't you glad the turkey was NOT named our national bird? Wishing you a delicious day......

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I don't know when the turkey became the official main course for Thanksgiving but it did somewhere down the line. To me the best part of Thanksgiving is a leftover turkey sandwich the next day.
I'll be enjoying the day with my daughter, her Someone and his mom, and my grandson. Daughter is doing most of the cooking. I'm making a cranberry sauce and will provide the traditional (for us) Mrs. Smith's deep dish apple crumb pie.
May all of you be blessed this Thanksgiving with family, friends and good food.

Bright blessings.....

A thought(?)

I find it interesting that the countries who are having or had so much financial difficulty did not seem to be in such straights until they switched to the Euro. Could it be that having only one currency is not so good?

If I ever have to fly anywhere I'll go ahead and go through the scanner (I don't know if our airport has such). It won't be a pretty sight and they'll regret my choice. As for getting a patdown, hmmmmmph.

An acquaintance came up with a brilliant idea for security at the airport. Build a whole line of bomb proof little rooms specially equipped with special sensors. Everyone has to go into a room for 30 seconds. If a person is wearing an explosive the sensor will set it off and....voila! No more bomber...just a big mess to clean up.

I think, therefore I'm dangerous. Have a thoughtful day.

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Feelin' better

I'm feeling much better today. Made sure I got a good night's sleep (better living through chemistry even if it is OTC). The worries haven't gone away. I've just tucked them in the back for the time being.
Some of the tree rats are getting cheeky. One of them actually started to climb up to the porch while I was trying to shoot it with my BB pistol! Unfortunately (fortunately for it) I didn't hit it and ran out of BB's before it got to the rail, so I had to come back in and reload. It just sat on the rail laughing at me, only skedaddling when I came back out. I did manage to hit one as it was running away from the steps. Saw it jump up in the air and continue running. I'd use a regular hand gun if I thought I could hit the little buggers, but am afraid of putting a hole where one shouldn't be in the house. The BB's do discourage them for a while anyway.
Have a good Sunday and give thought to this: Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I wasn't going to post this but I didn't sleep well last night and need to get it all out. I'm tired. Tired of carrying two households on my shoulders. Tired of paying bills I shouldn't have to pay because someone won't call the other parent for help. Tired of the excuses of why someone hasn't found a job. Tired of trying to prod someone into getting a book finished by sending pictures for another person to do illustrations for said book. I am worn out emotionally and don't know how much longer I can deal with it. I want to disappear and have nothing to do with anyone. I want to stop worrying. I just want it all to STOP.
I know I'll get over it. I always do....somehow. But right now I've been down so long it looks like up to me.

Y'all have a day.

Friday, November 19, 2010

Yay, it's Friday. I had plans but they had to change so I'm going to the co-op instead....maybe get some work done.
I finished a knitting project that was going to be for me. It's too small. Guess I was dreaming about what size I needed it to be. Sigh. Wish my middle would quit getting bigger around. Not being a quitter, I have begun the same project pattern with the same color yarn, only much bigger this time. Hopefully this one fits.
Y'all have a great weekend and remember: Get involved. The world is run by those who show up.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

It's Wednesday, sometimes known as hump day. The beginning of the week is behind you and the weekend is ahead. It is the day of the week that, if I were to buy a new vehicle, I would want it to have been made on this day. Why? Because at the beginning of the week the workers are getting over the weekend. At the end of the week they're thinking abbout what they are going to do on the coming weekend. So far this this has held good for me. My truck has over 203,000 miles on it and my van has over 170,000 miles on it. Both were made on a Wednesday. Of course I try to take good care of them also. Serviced on schedule by the dealership, 'cause the work is guaranteed. The particular dealership I go to sticks to that guarantee. I've only had one occasion to take them up on it and it was on my daughter's vehicle, not mine. I'm not disclosing the make of my vehicles 'cause I know there are people out there who are stalwart supporters of other makes and I do not want to get into a p-----g contest over which make is the best. Suffice it to say that I'm loyal to the one whose vehicles I own.

Y'all have a great hump day and ponder this: DILLIGARA?

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

A rainy gray day good for sewing and knitting....which is what I'm going to do.

Y'all have a good one and ponder this.......the last time we mixed politics and religion, people got burned at the stake.

Monday, November 15, 2010

What a gray day. I'd like to crawl back into bed but I've too much to do. The last three days have been tiring, what with being nice to the public and trying to get some jewelry made at the same time. I did make a stupid move and cut my left index badly. Never, ever, try to hold down a small round piece of copper while drilling a hole with a drill press! The drill bit caught the copper and spun it, the result being my going out to my van for my first aid kit. After I turned off the drill press. And I knew, just knew it was a bad move, but did it anyway. Never again I assure you. The finger will be fine and the lesson well learned.
Need to get a bunch done today since tomorrow is sewing day. I have three donation quilts to finish. (Our guild gives quilts to various organizations for babies and children). I've had them sitting in a pile for some time and decided it was time to get them done and out of my basement. Plus I have other projects to work on. Sigh....so much to do and so little time.
Y'all have a curious day.
Remember: A=A

Friday, November 12, 2010

Had blood drawn at 8:00 this morning. My usual 3 month A1c and, this time, a lipid profile. I'm trying to stay off drugs for high cholesterol. Don't think the Bayers Heart Health is going to work but I wanted to give it a try and the Dr. was willing to go along for 3 months. I go back at 11:00 to get the results and see the doc.
After that it's off to the gallery. We're starting the arts tour today and I'm one of the ones demonstrating......all weekend. Two days at the gallery and one day at the co-op. Yikes! Hmmmm, maybe I'll actually get something done. I'm hoping it's a success for all involved. It's a cool idea, really. A self-guided tour through 4 counties that includes galleries, studios, shops, vineyards, etc. And, of course, it's never to early to shop for whatever winter holiday you celebrate (is that politically correct, or what!?).
Have things to organize before I leave so I'll say ta for now. Don't know if I'll be posting anything for the next couple of days as I have to get up at an indecent hour.

To my son, my brother, and my friends who have served.....thank you. You are what makes this country great. You are my heroes.
While I wish there was no need for our troops to be fighting I understand that it is necessary in some circumstances. There are times, however, when I express the thought that those in whose country we happen to be should just kill each other off and that would be that. It isn't that simple. And world peace isn't going to happen.....ever.
So, to all who serve(d), thank you for the sacrifices you have made so that I may have the freedoms I do. I wish you all bright blessings and, if you are now away from home, a safe return.

Y'all have a mindful day.

Once again Vista is frustrating me. If I try to go to one particular blog I'm told that Internet Explorer can't display the page. Then it tries to tell me that it cannot find that particular page. BS! I know darned well that the page and blog exists and that I've been to it before. I can't help but wonder if someone or something is messing with my computer offisite. Am I paranoid? YUP! I know full well that if someone wanted to hack into my computer he/she could. And if someone wants to read my blog (and I'm sure that there's someone employed to do just that....mine and others who don't go along with politics as they are now)it's entirely possible. Just enter a search word and bingo!

Have work to do and no patience with the computer today. All I can say is: remember to think for yourself.

Beautiful day

It's another beautiful day. Wonder if it's going to get as warm as it did yesterday. There I was all ready for another chilly one....turtleneck(check), sweatshirt (check), leg warmers (check). Much to my surprise when I exited my abode, it was almost too warm! Weather, please make up your fricking mind. Oh well, I'll be indoors most of the day sewing away (trying to get some Christmas....I mean holiday......stuff finished). Later it's on to knitting. Such an exciting day, don't you think?
Y'all have a pleasant whatever and remember: The less you know, the more you believe.

Monday, November 8, 2010

It's just another Monday. Nothing of note to say (not that I ever have much of note to say). Have a good beginning of the week.

Art is not a thing, it is a way.

Time

There I was, all snug and warm in my bed, thinking it was about 8:30 or so. Then I made the mistake of looking at the clock. Ugh......7:30. I wanted to go back to sleep but my body said, "uh, uh, time to get your lazy butt out of bed." Grrrr, I dislike time change. I don't like it, I say. It'll take some time to get used to. Then we'll "spring forward" again and I'll have to go through it all over again. Grrrrr, again.
It's cold again this morning. Below freezing. Frost everywhere. The heat pump is being valiant in its efforts and my electric bill is going up, up, up. I don't have the heat on in my room, just the basement and first floor and heaters (2) on the back porch to keep the plants from freezing. No, I can't bring them into the house, they're too big. The reason I don't have the heat on in my room is that it's right under the roof and heats up quite nicely on sunny days. That heat lasts into the night. Besides which I like to sleep in the cool.
Well, since my brain tells me it's an hour later than the clock says I guess I need to get going and get something done. Laundry perhaps. Some house cleaning, perhaps. Just....get....going.

Have a peaceful Sunday......remember: Being ignorant is not so much a shame as being unwilling to learn (Benjamin Franklin).

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Brrrr

Baby, it's cold outside. I looked at the thermometer when I got up and shivered. The pointer was sitting on 30. So the heaters are now on on the back porch in hopes that the plants don't freeze. I'd hate to kill my daughter's sheffelehra (sp?) that doesn't like me anyway. That and the cactus that wants to take over the porch. Guess I'm gonna have to dress warm when I go out.
I kinda feel sorry for the folks that are taking part in the Arts and Crafts Festival today. It's going to be a bit nippy. But at least the sun is out so it may warm up to about 50. Glad I decided not to take part in it. Besides, I hate having to collect sales tax. That's why I'm at the gallery and the co-op. They get to do that for me.
I don't know why the tree rats, I mean squirrels, think they should sharpen their teeth on my porch railing. They should find a nice tree or something. Doesn't my shooting at them give them a clue that I disapprove?
Well, onward and upward (Wonder where that saying came from. Hey, Hermit Jim, you're good at finding this kinda stuff out. How about it?).

Stay warm and answer me this: What would Scooby do?

Frost is on the punkin'

It's a bit nippy this morning. Woke up to temps in the low 30's. There's frost on the ground, first of the year. It could get interesting as there is a slight chance of snow tonight. Just a hint mind you, but I'm sure it'll panic a bunch of people.....especially those who panic at the sign of the first flake. As for me, I'm snug and warm in my cabin. I'll be venturing out a little later, going to the co-op in hopes of getting a couple of new pieces started. I want to try something different.
I have a whole weekend ahead of me and I can do what I want to do. No social obligations, etc. I may even sleep late tomorrow.
Y'all have a great and relaxing weekend and remember: Knowledge is power, but only when used properly.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Hope y'all voted today. If you didn't well, shame on you and don't you dare complain about the turnout.
Didn't post earlier 'cause I went to get my hair cut. I stayed abed later than perhaps I should but it was comfy and warm and I really didn't want to get up. Have to get up tomorrow for another appointment. (So why do I make appointments for the morning?) Hmmmm, will have to give that some thought. And isn't rise and shine an oxymoron?
The weather is being weird. Today is a bit nippy and damp. Yesterday was sunny and dry. Wish it would make up it's mind! My sinuses are so confused they don't know what to do.....stay clear or give me a headache.
Enough drivel. Must get something done, even if it's a nap. Y'all have a comfortable afternoon and remember: Aim for average, you're seldom disappointed.

Monday, November 1, 2010

I imagine that Kyddryn will eventually do a post on the Samhain fun we had. Pictures of carved punkins can be seen at PagansWan. Wish I could munch on roasted punkin seeds. Alas they tear up my innards so I had to pass. But I certainly did enjoy the punkin cake! Unfortunately I forgot to bring my bit of it home. Drat! I did score some roasted seeds for my friends at the co-op, though.
Must hurry.....busy day today. Y'all have a calm Monday and remember: VOTE tomorrow!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

Here I am at Casa de Crazy, waiting for the others to stir. They stay up much later than I and I arise much earlier than they. It looks to be a beautiful day. Tonight we'll see some little (and not so little) people in costumes, come to beg candy. I always get a kick out of seeing which character is the most popular each year. Haven't made up my mind yet what I'll carve into the pumpkin. I'm thinking something fancy this year. Last year simplicity ruled. Mayhap someone here will take and post pictures of everyone's artwork.
Y'all have a safe Hallowe'en.

Friday, October 29, 2010

It's down to the pond today. The sun is shining and, although it's a bit nippy out there, the pipe must be cleared. This afternoon I'll be going to the new co-op to get my space set up and settled. Maybe even get some work started. I have a lot to get put away and in order. I must say that it will be nice to have a well lighted space in which to work and good company to enjoy whilst working.
This is the second day where I have heard a squirrel on the porch. For whatever reason they seem to want to gnaw on the railing wood. Sharpening their teeth? My handy dandy BB pistol is strategically located next to the front door so I don't have to search for it. Locked and loaded! I would like to keep my porch in one piece, thank you.
It appears that the situation at Casa de Crazy is better. I'm still ready to strangle whoever sent the email to my ex son-in-law. Malicious bitch/bastard. Coward. And he's not man enough to tell who sent it. Anonymous my Aunt Fanny.
Okay, time to get a move on. The pond awaits, I have grocery shopping to do, etc. etc.

Have a nice Friday and remember: Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

I have learned more about the background behind Kyddryn's blog this morning. It saddens me that her ex-husband will believe lies about her and her household then confront her about them without checking facts and being reasonable. While I understand his concern for the welfare of his son he should know from past experience that K would NEVER do anything to harm or endanger their son or allow anyone else to do so. Unfortunately I don't think T would know the truth if it walked up and slapped him in the face. What can you say about a person who thinks of no one but himself, buys HD TV's, etc., lives in his mother's basement and pays nothing, not even for food. And he probably doesn't have a clue that every time he upsets K, his son sees it and wonders if it's his fault. He also doesn't realize that one of these days his son is going to see him for what he really is. 'Nuff said.

What influence do you have on others in your life?

Deluge!!

The deluge we had Monday was nothing compared to the one we had yesterday evening. At one point I thought a tornado was about to pass through. The wind blew hard enough to drive the rain horizontally against the front of the house which is under a roof. And it blew over my potting bench. Hail, yes. Which prompted me to think, uh oh. Did I head for the basement? No. It was a wind shear and a violent one. Unusual that it came from the East, not Southwest which is the prevailing wind direction. I'm going to have to walk a ways to grab the trash can and two buckets that were flung about. I'm surprised there are any leaves left on any of the trees. The dogwood directly in front of the house was bent in two. Luckily it didn't break. And yet, the old mail box sitting on top of the retaining wall is still in place. It's not attached, it just sits there. Weird. Not only did we have one deluge, we had at least three (that's how many I heard and it's hard not to hear it what with a metal roof and all). Needless to say I didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked. I see a nap in my future. This Fall sinus thing is driving me batty but I think it's on it's way out.
One good thing about all this rain we've had is that I've gotten a bunch of sewing done and have done some cleaning in the basement. It's raining again as I type this so I reckon I'll be doing some more today.
Y'all have a great day and remember: Don't believe everything you think.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Today is the second day of my "It's Fall" feeling crappy day. It's almost a year to the day since the last time I felt this way. Must be something in the air or change in temp, etc. At any rate I continue to feel crappy and probably will for another day or so until my body adjusts to this crazy weather. Also, it's raining again so no going down to the pond. Because I actually got some sewing done yesterday I think I'll hunker down and get to it again today.

Hope yours is a healthy day. Something to ponder Time flies when you're completely bewildered.

Monday, October 25, 2010

I had the day pretty well planned out. In big red letters on my calendar was the word "POND". That meant it was go down to the pond and make sure the overflow pipe was clear day. Welllll, that ain't happenin'. Why? It's raining, that's why. Yes, I could go down there anyway 'cause I've done so before but.....I have a sore throat and my sinuses are giving me fits and if I have to bend over, I may get dizzy and fall in (not funny, the water is getting cold). So it looks like laundry and sewing today. Don't get me wrong we need the rain big time. I just wish it could have held off a day. Perhaps tomorrow will be better and I can go down then.
It's going to be interesting to see what the driveway is like after the deluge (and I mean DELUGE) this morning. The man who does our roads was kind enough to scrape it and shape it, but no gravel has been put down yet. Wonder if I have deep gorges in it. Guess I'll find out next time I go out. Sigh. Maybe should just go back to bed with a good book. Nah....to much to do.

Y'all have a nice Monday and think about this: Some days you're the windshield, other days you're the bug.

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Grandson and I had a good time yesterday. We ran some errands for me then stopped at the evil empire (Walmart) to get a couple of new trashcans as a surprise for daughter. Yeah, yeah, wow, great surprise, trash cans. Believe me, they were needed and she was delighted. Today we return to the evil empire to purchase pumpkins. I was amazed at the number of them they had there. And they weren't all weird shapes. Great for carving next weekend. And inexpensive. We might go to the Hallowe'en store to look for a costume for grandson. That is, if he can make up his mind what he wants to be. I'm afraid going to the store is going to overwhelm him a bit, but we'll see.
Yesterday we played with his RC car. He showed me how to run it and steer it then had a great time both chasing it and running away from it. He enjoyed playing cop more than actually running the car. We had a great time chasing each other and running into each other with it.
I believe this house is cursed. This morning the microwave refused to open. Daughter, who was trying to heat up some biscuits for breakfast before going over to the track pleaded, cajoled, begged, but the door wouldn't open. Nor will any of the buttons work. It seems that any and all things mechanical have something go wrong. Never all at once, mind you, but one thing after another. The washing machine has to be beaten in a certain spot to finish a cycle. It's the little things, you know?
Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember: He who dies with the most toys....is still dead.

Saturday, October 23, 2010

So, here I am at Casa de Crazy while daughter is at the track earning some moolah. Grandson is beginning to stir (at least I think I hear some kind of noises coming from the direction of his room). It's a beautiful fall day. I have a quick errand to run this morning but it looks like a good day to be outside. Grandson has an RC car and I'm going to let him show me how to run it here in the cul-de-sac. Just hope I don't wreck it.
Did get some things inventoried and priced yesterday at the co-op. Brought some stuff with me to do the same here. That is if I have time. Once grandson is up he's on the go ALL the time. Mayhap if he wants to play on the computer.....
Y'all have a scrumptious day and remember: Not all who wander are lost.

Friday, October 22, 2010

I am frantically trying to get pieces together to take to the co-op and this morning found out I'll have to do an inventory. Aaaaack! Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of writing and making up inventory numbers, etc.
Will be taking care of grandson this weekend as daughter is working at the track. Someone is working this weekend also which is why I'm watching grandson. Hopefully they'll both be successful. I may or may not get online. If I don't I'll try to be back Monday. It all depends on how things go at Casa de Crazy.
Have a great weekend.

I leave you with this question.....Why be normal?

Thursday, October 21, 2010

My thanks to daughter and her Someone for helping me move stuff to the new co-op. Thankfully the work table frame survived it's sail off the truck and thankfully daughter (who was behind us in my van) did not get hit by said frame and thankfully two GDOT guys who were behind her were able to stop and help get said frame back in the truck where it was promptly bungied down. The frame was wounded but survived and was successfully "cured" by Someone once we arrived at the co-op. I've had that work table since '84 and would have hated to see it terminated by a fall off a truck, 'specially since I had a hand in making it.

It's off to the gallery and I'm running behind (as usual) so I'll leave you with this question: If tin whistles are made of tin, what do they make fog horns out of?

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

It's the third Tuesday of the month and that means......Quilt Guild! This month we are having a "I don't need this stuff in my quilt space anymore" sale. So yesterday afternoon I dug through all my junk (I mean stuff) and came up with things I could definitely live without. If it doesn't sell I guess I'll just have to donate it somewhere. It's mostly fabric that I know I'll never use but couldn't resist buying in the first place. Sigh, so much fabric and so little time. Of course, I say the same thing about yarn. I'll stay away from that for now.
I'm also trying to get stuff ready to move over to the co-op. Perhaps I can get work done there that I can't seem to get done here at home. You know, life gets in the way. Too much needs doing around here, too. I'm also madly trying to get jewelry ready for the co-op. Whew....I've been busy! Hopefully I can slow down a bit next week.
Y'all have a clear day and remember: Every mother is a working mother.

Monday, October 18, 2010

It was a great day yesterday. Working on a project with my daughter was fun. Her mask, when finished is going to be beautiful. Mine isn't finished either. I'll have to be in the mood to finish it. Funny, I had an idea in my head about what I wanted to to. Even had a picture of what the mask might look like when finished. It is coming out totally different. A different color and design. No, I'm not taking a picture of it. It is something private, this one.
Time to get a move on. I have a quilt to put together for quilting and a ton of other stuff to do. Time is running away from me.

Y'all have a blessed day and remember: You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Today daughter and I are going to do something together. No, not shopping. We're going to make masks. One of the artists with whom I "play" at the gallery is doing a workshop and I signed us up for it. It's been a long time since daughter and I have had the time to do something artsy together. A friend of hers is going to watch the grandson. Ex-husband was supposed to but he "forgot" and is working a race instead (how convenient). He often "forgets" or something will come up at the last minute when he's supposed to have his son for the weekend or he says he'll pick him up at a specific time and then doesn't show up until much later. Daughter has given up trying to make any solid plans for those weekends. Grrrr. It would be nice if she and J could come up for a weekend without grandson. He can be a handfull at times and constantly wants attention, giving his mom little peace (of which she could use some right now). Hopefully today will be an enjoyable one for her. I know it will be for me. So with that I will say.... have a nice Sunday and remember: Faith is a journey......not a guilt trip.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

It's a gorgeous day. The temperature went down into the high 30's last night so that made for great sleeping with the window open and a nice down comforter on the bed. I like crisp fall days. Must get a bunch accomplished today. There's a quilt I need to get the batting and backing cut for so I can take it to the lady who will quilt it for me on her long arm machine. I also have a bunch of jewelry to throw into the tumbler to polish so I can take it to the co-op I'm participating in. And I have to start arranging the stuff I need to take over there to my space that I'll be working in. Too bad all of this is inside. Oh well. The sooner I get it all done the better.

Just want you to know that the voices in my head aren't real, but they sometimes have some great ideas. Y'all have a lovely weekend.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

&#@%!!!!! Vista. Had to get here by a roundabout route this morning. I kept getting the message that the page couldn't be found! This is one of those moments (just a moment, mind you) that I'd like to take the computer and throw it off the porch and wish it had never been invented.
My back hurts and I'm in a crochety mood because of it. Problems with this machine does....not....help.
Happily the truck is fixed and my daughter can now relax and get some sleep. So can I. What will we do when there are no more shade tree mechanics and kind people who trust enough to write a check from their own account to pay for the repair, knowing that they will be sent a check to replace the funds the very next day? I hope I don't live to see that day.
It's off to the gallery so you have a trust-full day and remember: even if the voices aren't real, they have some pretty good ideas.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Last night my daughter called quite upset. I had loaned my truck to her Someone so he could go camping in Ohio. Well, it appeared there was something wrong with the truck. The battery light was on indicating that the alternator was not charging it. There he was in the middle of nowhere with phone signal going in and out, lost. I have roadside service so I gave her the information hoping that J could at least get to his destination before the truck died. He almost did. It died about 2 miles from his destination. I'm hoping it's just the alternator belt. The truck is, after all, 15 years old and although I have faithfully taken it in for service when it was time, things definitely will start going wrong. Unfortunately it happened in the middle of Ohio, in the middle of the night. I'll learn more this morning when daughter calls me. Hopefully she finally got some sleep. I know what it's like to be worried about someone you love and unable to do anything. Even I had a hard time going to sleep last night. I have offered to ride to the rescue if need be. He's family after all.
Y'all have a good day and remember: Some days it's not worth chewing through the restraints.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

It was a long day yesterday. Up at 5:30 so we could get to the concert site around 7:00 in order to set up our vend space. Our friend PJ was already there when we arrived, setting up outside. We had thought we were going to be inside but.....we wanted more room than they could give us inside. As it turns out inside became so crowded it was difficult to actually stop and look at things. Luckily it wasn't raining. It was quite cool when we arrived but quickly warmed up as the sun rose. Later it was VERY warm. We happened to be on the side of the parking lot that didn't get shade. Something to consider if we do it again.
Because three of the band members were elsewhere this day I and my daughter's sweetie were "guest" performers. Considering that we only had three rehearsals I'd say we did quite well. The audience got into the music and asked for an encore. I was even asked to do an autograph, twice! The whole experience was fun, although at the end of the day we were all exhausted. I'd do it again, though, if asked.
Y'all have a peaceful day and remember: The more power the government has, the less you have.

Friday, October 8, 2010

I'm off to daughter's today. We have rehearsal for tomorrow's performance. I've always been a bit shy about being in front of a crowd of people but hope I'll hold up tomorrow. I won't be posting tomorrow (like you are really going to miss me) as we'll be at the site. I'm still not sure if I want to try to sell any of my stuff, but will make up my mind before I go down there.
This is Friday and the weekend is here so remember: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Just got back from my daughter's after she and I went to buy some fabric (she's going to make a quilt for the new addition) and to look for a card rack and a portable jewelry case so a friend can take my jewelry (and hopefully sell some) on the road. Success! Spent the night at her house 'cause she and her Someone went to see the pre-viewing of Secretariat. My grandson and I watched a couple of movies ourselves. Madagascar and Bolt. I hadn't seen Bolt and enjoyed it very much. Enjoyed Madagascar this time around, too.
It's off to the chiropractor in a few minutes. Not that it's bothering me that much. Just a kind of maintenance thing.
Y'all have a great afternoon and evening and remember: Never yell, "FIRE", in a movie theatre.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

It's another beautiful day. In the 40's last night so good sleeping weather. Tucked under my nice warm covers with a window open for fresh air. Surprised the hummers are still here. Thought they would have headed for warmer weather by now. Have lots to do today, playing catch up from being away for a week. Took me two hours just to go through the mail! After it warms up a bit I think I'll open windows downstairs to air out the house. Wish I had a real clothesline. Nothing like the smell of sheets just taken off the line and put on the bed. Just can't get that with a dryer. Need to check the pond. Must get a move on so y'all have a pretty day and remember: Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.

Monday, October 4, 2010

It was a long week of long days and short nights. But lots of great racing. I refer to the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, located in Braselton, GA. Luckily my daughter (who had even shorter nights and longer days) lives a whopping 9/10 of a mile away from the track so I could sleep at least one hour more a night.
My job was actually three in one. I was liaison between the main sanctioning body (IMSA) and the track; logger; communicator. Time off? What time off. Thankfully a friend was there with me to help with the liaison and logging jobs. My job as communicator was to relieve the IMSA communicator and do the communicating for the other groups that weren't IMSA. Although I don't think I've quite caught up on sleep I'm close to it.
My daughter K, bless her, did all the registration of the workers. The morning meetings were early (7:00) so she would get up at ogodthirty to make sure there was hot coffee and a nosh or two. Then she stayed up until the end of the day social was pretty much over. Like I said, long days, short nights. Cars were on the course at 8:00 a.m. and went to at least 6:00 p.m. And one day went until 9:00 p.m. so the main race group could have night practice.
And everyone who worked this event was a volunteer. Yup, that's right. A volunteer. Try getting a younger person to work those hours for nothing but a shirt and cap! Why do we do it? Because we love the sport.
Well, I've lots of catching up to do here at the cabin. Best get to it. Y'all have a beautimous day and remember: what we think we become.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

It has begun. Today was the first day of this long week of racing. Long because the days are so. I get up at 5:30 and might finish at 6:30. That's a short day. A couple of days will be longer with the big race day going 1000 miles or 10 hours, whichever is first. Usually it's the 1000 miles. Which means getting up at 5:30 a.m. and finishing maybe around 9:15p.m. or thereabouts. Then there's the cleaning up and farewell party. I'll sleep in on Sunday come hell or highwater. Anyway, what it all means is that I probably won't be writing for a few days. I'll miss it and you but will be back next week. In the meantime y'all have a great week and remember: stupid should be painful.

Monday, September 27, 2010

I'm at daughter's house for the rest of the week. Don't know if I'll have the time or inclination to write because there are some very long days ahead. Soooo, if you don't hear from me it's because I'm too tired and my brain doesn't want to function any more.

Y'all have a great week. The sun is shining and tomorrow is a race car day. So's the rest of the week. Lots of neat cars and lots of speed. A few mishaps here and there but that's what makes it interesting.

Remember: Not all who wander are lost.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Rain....lots of it. It started about 1:00 a.m. with a heavy downpour. Now, every once in a while, it'll start up again. Hopefully it'll quit for this coming week for the races.
Daughter, et al came up late yesterday afternoon. It was a nice quiet evening. The grandson gotto play with his train table once again now that it is safely ensconced in the loft. Some other stuff will be coming up in the future and the baby's room will be clear and ready to furnish.
Well, family is here so I'll cut this one short.

Y'all have a quiet day and remember: If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Something to think about: whenever any branch of the government acquires a new technique which enhances its power in relation to the other branches, that technique will soon be adopted by those other branches as well...Senator Daniel P. Moynihan

y'all have a sunshine day

Friday, September 24, 2010

Don't you hate it when your mind goes blank? I had an idea of what I wanted to write but.....nothing's there. So some random thoughts maybe.

I'll be getting political calls for the next month. That's okay, I let them leave their message, then delete it. I've already voted!

I'm going to fill the hummingbird feeders before I leave next week. I think they're getting their fill before migrating. Don't think I'll see any when I get back. (I'll be working a car race next week).

Daughter and family are coming up this afternoon, bringing more of my grandson's toys. I saw the "toy" room at their house and couldn't believe how much he has. And what a mess! Too much for my daughter to keep up with. Hopefully his daddy will take him for a couple of days so she can cull and pare down.

Was able to sleep in this morning. Enjoyed the heck out of it. Now it's on to getting some cleaning done since I haven't cleaned in a while.

Y'all have a special day and remember: I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Where oh where has this last week gone? I can't believe it's Thursday....again. It's been a busy week and next week is going to be even busier. I get to watch cars speed by and work long days....all for no pay. Whee.....I love it! At any rate I don't know that I'll have the time or energy to do any posting. I'll be staying at daughter's and will have my 'puter with me so will at least have time (I hope) to read y'all's blogs. Must run....it's gallery day and I have to get ready.

Y'all have a scrumptious day and remember: A = A

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

It's off to the chiropractor then daughter's for band rehearsal. Yup I'm singin' in the band. Just once, mind you. Someone booked the band for a gig but forgot to tell them(?) and three of the band members can't be there so.....ta da....J and I are "guest" participants. It'll be interesting for sure. Luckily I'm familiar with most of the music and hopefully I'll stay on key. I'm sure daughter will tell me if I don't. I'm looking to blend.

Anyway.....you have a cool day and remember: Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect to get it back.

Wildlife

I've been watching the wildlife in my yard. Actually saw a buck with two does the other day. He didn't have much of a rack so must be young. The tree rats (oops, I mean squirrels.....not) are making the branches of the dogwoods shake as they go further out to get the berries. Every once in a while one will slip and there it is hanging on for dear life trying to get back on the branch. It usually succeeds but now and then it has to drop to the ground and start all over again. Nothing like free entertainment.

Y'all have an interesting day and remember: He who dies with the most toys.....is still dead.

Contemporary term

A friend sent the following in an email and I thought I'd pass it on to y'all.

There is an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's term was: "Political Correctness".

The winner wrote:
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupuloous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

I couldn't have said it better myself. And please note that all words are spelled without any ***, etc..

Y'all have a great day.

Saturday, September 18, 2010

Wow, slept in today for a change. The sun in my eyes woke me up otherwise I might still be abed. Yesterday was pretty uneventful and I didn't get all that much done. Don't know why. Things just seemed discombobulated. I did get another row done on a quilt I'm making. And I was able to get some mail sent. Went to knit night. Luckily I took two projects 'cause one decided it wanted to make trouble for me so I put it aside and worked on the no-brainer. Other than that....don't ask me 'cause I don't know.

Have a good weekend and know this: If you are impatiently waiting for someone to arrive who is late, go to the bathroom and that person will arrive instantly in your absence.

Friday, September 17, 2010

Ah, Friday. A day I could sleep in. Did I? Of course not. Whenever I have to get up for an appointment or something my brain says it wants to stay asleep. Whenever I get a chance to sleep in my brain says it wants to think, think, think and solve this problem and that problem, etc.. You get what I'm saying. Heck, maybe I'll just take a nap this afternoon. Meanwhile......
y'all have a fortunate Friday and remember: You're never too old to learn something stupid.

I have a question. If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

I think my computer hates me. I had to give up on trying to get anywhere this morning. It just did NOT want to cooperate. Right now it's behaving. For how long, who knows. I tried to download a couple of small files and it was taking forEVER, so I quit. Like I said, it's behaving now and let me download what I needed to within a short period of time. Maybe it was sun spots or something since I use satellite instead of the not-customer-friendly phone company.

Y'all have a comfortable day and remember: War does not determine who is right; only who is left.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I'm somewhat late today but that's because daughter et al are here and we've been making room for some of the grandson's stuff up in the loft. I haven't done much cleaning up there so it is quite dusty and making us sneeze..... a lot. Guess I'll have to do better in the future. We won't by any means finish today. We have, however, made room for quite a bit of stuff. J is out mowing. I'll be able to find my lions, tigers and giraffes now (just kidding). The lawnmower starts. Hooray! Of course he had to find a yellow jacket nest. He seems to be good at that. Luckily he didn't get stung. I'll take care of it this evening with some gasoline.
Found out the sprout is a girl. Now I can maybe buy little girlie things like I couldn't with my other granddaughters (my daughter-in-law didn't like my taste). Still keeping my fingers crossed that everything is fine and will continue to be so.
Enought for today...must get back to dusting (AAAAAACHOOOO).
Y'all have an uneventful day and remember: Loyalty to the country alsway. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it.....Mark Twain

Monday, September 13, 2010

Went down to the pond yesterday morning to make sure the overflow pipe was clear. After the heavy rain we had I figured it would need some work. Yup. And I twisted the wrong way. Got the pipe cleared though. Now I just need to take it easy on the back (again).
Daughter, et al coming up today. Hopefully J can get the mower started to mow the yard. Don't know why it doesn't want to start for him but will for my friend Richard. If the yard doesn't get mowed soon I'll lose sight of the giraffes (lol). K and I are going to clear space for some of her son's toys that she is bringing up so he has things to play with while up here if it rains (or even if it doesn't). It also gives her more room at home. We definitely have our work cut out for us since I haven't waded through a lot of the stuff in the loft (where the toys are going). Good excuse to get it done.
Guess I need to get a move on. Y'all have a good day.

When in doubt, make up a good story.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

I didn't post anything yesterday not because of the date and what happened on that day but because I was sick. I won't go into details. Suffice it to say that I spent enough time in the bathroom to read a novel from start to finish. I'm okay so far today. Thank you, Immodium.

So, daughter still doesn't know whether bebe is an innie or an outie. I'm hoping for innie but will accept whichever. She's nervous because, on her last visit, they did an amnio, just to make sure everything is okay. So far the tests have all come back negative. This is hopefully the last of them. She'll know something on Monday, maybe. The sooner she finds out that everything is fine, the sooner she can begin to relax about the whole thing. I'm anxious to hear also. Those of you who read her blog and have come to know her here in the blue nowhere, please send a prayer to whomever you believe in that everything turns out okay.

Enough about that. Looks like I'll be going down to the pond today. Last night's rain storm stirred up a bunch of stuff it looks like and I need to make sure the overflow pipe is clear. I can see that the water level is closer to the polypropelene pipe on the other side of the pond than it should be.

Y'all have a serene day. Something to think about: every 7 minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.

Friday, September 10, 2010

I'm trying to come up with something to say but my mind is a blank. Actually, I think it's full of holes, like Swiss cheese. Ever get that way? Scary sometimes. Family coming up this weekend. Looking forward to it. Almost forgot!.....should find out what flavor the future grandchild is going to be. See what I mean about Swiss cheese? Think I'll quit while I'm sort of ahead.

Y'all have a fortunate day and remember: The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

Not feelin' it today. Gallery day, too. Guess I'm just coming down from a great trip and wishing I was still on it.
Y'all have a good one and remember: the only thing better than a lie is a true story no one will believe.

Monday, September 6, 2010

It's back, I am.

I wish the room would quit rocking. Looks like it's gonna take a day or so to get my land legs back. The trip was great and I met some really nice people. I wanted to get online to write about where we went and what I saw but the price was too much per minute. As soon as I can get my daughter to show me, once again, how to put pictures in here I'll post a few. Alaska is one place I would definitely go to again. I think Sitka was my favorite stop. Although it rained here and there on the trip we were blessed with remarkably good weather and although it was chilly all I needed was a turtleneck and my hoodie. Didn't even use the umbrella. Because I chose not to spend money on excursions I bought the videos of the trip. These show much more than I would have seen, anyway.
I'm still trying to get over the time difference. Right now my brain is on west coast time. Guess it'll take a day or two to re-adjust
As for the block challenge on board, my roommate won it! And the gal with whom I roomed in Seattle won viewers choice. I'll be anxious to see what my roommate does with all the blocks she won.
I'm still tired from the time difference and the trip so I'll write more about it all later. For now I may just go back to bed and sleep a bit more. I have a "viewing" to go to this evening.

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Tomorrow is the big day. I've done most of my packing...just a few odds and ends to add. Will be going to the gallery as usual but only staying half a day so I can get some cleaning done here. I want to get the bookkeeping caught up to today so the gal that's going to finish out the month for me won't have so much to do.
While I'm away I'm not sure, as I said before, whether I'll be posting since time on the internet costs money on board ship. And it ain't cheap. If I can I will. Meanwhile remember: The age of a woman doesn't mean a thing. The best tunes are played on the oldest fiddles...Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

I know I'll get through today and tomorrow. I'll just keep myself busy so the time goes quickly. Friday will be here before I know it and I'll be on my way. Woo-hoo!! After checking out the weather for where we'll be going I'm gonna pack an umbrella and a rain poncho. A bunch of turtleneck, long sleeve shirts, too. Will start that process this afternoon. After all, I must pack just the right things, you know. Luckily I don't mind wearing the same outfit more than once or I'd have to pack half my closet and that would be just a might cumbersome.
Cleaning house is starting today, also. Would like to have a clean house when I get back. Sooooo, I guess I'd better get going.
Y'all have a scrumptious day and remember: The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Nothing today. Brain isn't awake yet....sorry. Y'all have a good one (day, that is).

Monday, August 23, 2010

Just a few more days and I'm off on my adventure (cruise). I'm flying into Seattle on Friday and will spend the next day touring around the city. If you've been there and have any suggestions, I'd appreciate you letting me know. I haven't traveled by air in 11 years so it's going to be an interesting experience at the airport(s). You know, security and all that. Yes, I'll be wearing shoes that are easily removed. I won't have any sharp objects on or with me. Those will be packed in my checked bag. Am I getting excited? You bet. A little nervous, too, since it's been so long. Daughter will be taking me to the airport and picking me up when I get back. 'Course, there's going to be the time difference to adjust to also. I'm going to take a bunch of pictures. Will learn how to post an album on Picassa so anyone who wants to see the photos will be able to go there to so do instead of me boring everyone here. So.....I won't be posting much, if at all, next week. It depends on how much time costs aboard the ship. I will have my MiniMom with me 'cause I want to check my email so I don't have a gazillion when I get back. And I want to continue voting for daughter's entry in Bourdain's contest. I'll be downloading pictures, too.

Sunday....a day of worship and rest for some. For others, a day to laze around and do nothing. And some actually get some of those items on the honey-do list completed. Which are you?

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Going to a bead show today. See if they have a few things I need to make stuff to sell. Hope so.

Y'all have a good weekend. Remember: that which is misplaced is always in the last place you look.

Friday, August 20, 2010

I'm on the compute a lot later today since daughter et al were here and I thought it would be rude to ignore them. J got a lot of work done outside. He does have gremlins in the mechanicals, though. Luckily he was able to get everything that needed to work, work. The dam is now weed eaten so I don't have to worry about being attacked by giraffes or any such when I go down there to make sure the overflow pipe is clear. Hopefully he can get the mower working so I don't lose sight of all my dragons and lions and tigers (oh, my) in the yard. Actually I only have one dragon but would have more if I could.
I'm off to take a little nap before going to knit group. Y'all have a fun evening and remember: No matter what you do to instant coffee, it still tastes like instant coffee.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Thursday....gallery day. Think I'll do something different. Maybe make fabric beads.

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

No blog yesterday. Daughter was here and I believe it's rude to spend time on the computer when there is family or company here. While she did show me how to block certain apps on Facebook, I didn't want to take the time to do anything more. We re-pinned the capes she was sewing (we pinned them the wrong way last time) then I had quilt guild to go to and she had an appointment. Hopefully they can come up again this weekend. I'd love to get more work done in the yard. My bedroom could use a good cleaning before I leave for my trip. Think that's what I'll do today.
Y'all have a productive day and remember: Education cannot be subsituted for intelligence.

Monday, August 16, 2010

Another Monday. Dang!...where did the week go? I swear time is going by faster. Had a great visit with my son yesterday. Poor guy sliced the tendon in his left thumb with a box cutter and was all bandaged up. Luckily it was repairable. He'll be wearing the splint and bandages for a while. Ouch. He's off to San Francisco to work in a few days and will be returning just as I am leaving for Seattle and my cruise. He brought an Ipad here with him. It's totally amazing and way too complicated for me. It does everything (and more) that a laptop size can do and it's so small! All I can say is wow!
Daughter et al are supposed to come up this afternoon. Almost wish I had a third bedroom so Bird wouldn't have to sleep on the air mattress on the floor of the "library". Note to self: buy lottery ticket so you can win and build that second house.
Going to the gallery to do some bookkeeping stuff. Y'all have a quiet Monday. Remember: If you knew what you were doing, you would probably be bored.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Not much to say today. My son is coming up to visit for a while. His wife and kids are over in England getting their new flat furnished, etc. He'll be going over in a couple of weeks and will stay for about a month. They bought it so they'd have a place to stay when they went over to get away from the summer heat here. L is British so her family is over the pond. Luckily my son can accomplish most of his work on the computer. It'll be good to see him and visit. Next year they will probably be gone longer.
We had a nice soft soaking rain yesterday. Looks like we may get more today.
I'm off to put myself together for the day.
You have a peaceful Sunday and remember: If you can't do anything about it.....don't.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Mornin' y'all....yawn. Slept in this morning. It felt good to do so. The sky is gray, looks like we might get some needed rain. It rained in spots last night. Funny how it does that. Driving down the road I see the surface is wet and then, all of a sudden, it's dry. It rained some here, but not near enough.
Think I'll have a lazy kinda day. There's lots to do and if I feel like getting to it I will. Otherwise, nah. I am going out for dinner with a friend this evening. She started to get in touch out of the blue. Hadn't heard or seen hide nor hair from her in months. With her I have to wonder what's up. Guess I'll find out.
Still don't know what flavor future grandchild is. Drat. Will have to wait until next month I reckon. Poor daughter is gaining weight she doesn't want or need. It's too hot to go out walking and one would think she'd get enough exercise keeping up with her 7-year old. Not.
Well, enough prattling on. Need to get a move on....
Y'all have a good day and remember: Growing old is mandatory, growing up is.....well..... optional?

Friday, August 13, 2010

It's Friday. For those of you who are superstitious, it's also the 13th. For me, just another Friday. Hermit Jim has some interesting facts in his blog about today, so you might check it out. That's at Coffee With the Hermit.
I keep voting for my daughter in Bourdain's contest. It goes until the end of Sept. I think. Another reason to take my mini computer with me on my trip in two weeks. Wow, only two weeks to wait. Seems so far away.
It's gonna be another hot one today. It was almost 80 in the shade before 8:00 this morning. Guess I'll find things to do indooors.
Y'all have a wonderfilled, lucky day and remember: Life is a four-letter word.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Daughter et al were here yesterday so I took the day off from here. Even though they left midday I just didn't feel like writing so....
I did get some work done. J arose early to work outside before it became too hot. I got up at the usual time but hurried through breakfast as I needed to go down to the pond to make sure the overflow pipe was clear. Don't know why it gets clogged so often. At any rate, the water was flowing, but not as much as it should so I cleared the crud out from around the "cage" and let the water flow. I am so glad for the PVC pipe we put on the bank where I could see it from my kitchen window. I can tell when I need to go down there from where the water is in relation to that piece of pipe.
It's gonna be another hot one today. The forecast calls for showers later....one can only hope. I'm going to the gallery today so that's all for today folks.
Y'all have a great day and remember: Some mornings it's not worth chewing through the restraints.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Today many states have primary runoffs. We do here in Georgia and I'm going out to vote as soon as I have taken care of my morning ablutions (there is so such a word). After all, if I don't vote I can't complain, can I? If there are runoffs in your state you should vote. It's one of the few freedoms we have left. Remember: politicians and baby diapers should be changed often.
Y'all have a fruitful day.

Monday, August 9, 2010

It's Monday. Need I say more?

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Yesterday I went out and did some major weeding. You see, one of my kitties is buried under a huge slab of a tree I had to have cut down and the weeds had taken over around it. There's a yard art sculpture of a cat sitting on said slab and it faces the bird feeders so my kitty can watch the birds while residing in catnip heaven. At any rate I managed to clear enough so said yard art kitteh can now see the bird feeders. The rest of the weeds got Round-Upped. It was too hot (and my body was wilting) to go all the way around the slab. I have protesting muscles this morning to prove it. Once the Round-Up has taken effect I'll pull the rest of the weeds. But I'll get out there much earlier in the day. I think the heat index must have been hovering around 100 yesterday.
Bless his heart J worked basically all day and got a lot done. He was able to take a now fixed lawn mower home. Hopefully it won't crap out on him, thus proving that my daughter's house is cursed when it comes to machinery. I kind of wish I could have worked outside all day. Maybe then I'd sweat off a few pounds. Unfortunately I'm getting too old for it....working outside all day in the heat, that is.
Since I arose so late this morning I guess I'd better get a move on and get something done. Maybe a piece of jewelry or two or a couple of squares on the quilt I'm working on. It's gonna be another hot one and I plan on staying inside where it's cool.
Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember: God writes a lot of comedy...the trouble is he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny....Garrison Keillor

Saturday, August 7, 2010

Just gonna say hello today since daughter, her Someone and my grandson are here. I did get some work done outside this a.m. but the heat finally got to me so I had to come inside. Basically the only reason I'm on here this morning is so I can vote for my daughter's entry in Anthony Bourdain's contest. It seems I'm the only one right now doing so. Anyway, y'all have a good weekend.....

He who dies with the most toys.....is still dead.

Friday, August 6, 2010

I hate muscle cramps! For some odd reason the muscles on the top of my right foot like to cramp up every once in a while, usually in the middle of the night. It hurts! And there's nothing I can do about it except ride it out. It started to happen about three years ago after a small Coleman camp stove fell on it. That hurt, too. Don't know if that had anything to do with it, but....Last night I was awakened by that awful cramp. Just had to wait it out, trying to will it away.
K and J are coming up today along with my grandson. They're going to spend the night and hopefully we'll get some work done outside while they are here. Of course the forecast calls for thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Possible tomorrow also. Seems like every time they come up it rains. Geeeesh. Maybe we can watch a movie tonight.
Not much else going on. I'm getting excited about my trip at the end of this month. I'll be taking my mini computer with me so I can keep up with everything. Nothing worse than coming home from a vacation and having to wade through a gazillion emails, most of which are junk. It's a shame, in a way, that I have become so tied to the blue nowhere. A few years ago I wouldn't have even thought about taking a computer on a trip. I wonder what would happen if there is an electrical meltdown and all computers go down. Think of all the records that will be lost. All the communications that will no longer be possible. I shudder to think.
On to better thoughts.....it's a beautiful day and I'm going to enjoy it.
Y'all have a beautiful day, too and remember: Lost objects are always in the last place you look.

Thursday, August 5, 2010

I'm late, I'm late! It's gallery day and I am nowhere near ready. So I won't get there when the door opens. I'll be there all day, that's enough. Don't know what I'm going to do, though. My brain is fuzzy and doesn't want to come up with any new ideas. Sigh...

Y'all have a blessed day and remember: We are quite mad here....you'll fit right in.

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Bees....I dislike them. There is one on the hummingbird feeder outside my window as we speak. I have located the yellowjacket nest and will deal with it tonight. Meanwhile I have to somehow get the hummer feeder without being stung because it need refilling....already. I put solution in it yesterday! And, of course, the hummers are busy defending their respective territories. It's a wonder they get to drink anything at all. But, somehow, they do. Sometimes literally on the fly. Great free entertainment. Wonder what would happen if I put a third feeder out there?

Have a good day and remember:Negative thinking never got nobody nothing.

Monday, August 2, 2010

A new day, a new week...not much planned for either. Daughter's Someone is supposed to bring the lawnmower I gave them up to a friends' to see if the friend can figure out what's wrong with it. I swear, she has the worst luck when it comes to lawnmowers. Maybe it wasn't her ex's fault or karma after all. (every piece of machinery he owned failed for some reason or other). Hopefully my friend can figure out what's wrong. Of course, it's drizzling outside 'cause Someone is going to come up here. Ninety-nine percent of the time K and J come up it rains.
Had to refill the hummingbird feeders. Those little rascals go through the nectar pretty quickly. There are 4 of them fighting for territory and they are constantly chasing each other off the feeders. It's a wonder they get anything to drink.

Have a good one and remember: Life may be just a bowl of cherries, but you have to watch out for the pits.

Saturday, July 31, 2010

I thought I was going to get some organizing done yesterday. Not. I did get some sewing done and made one pair of earrings. Decided I didn't like the head pins I had for the earrings so that scotched that project. The quilt top is coming along nicely, though. It's going to be a gift, I've decided, for a family member (no, not you K, wrong colors). I need to start thinking of that time of year since it always seems to sneak up on you. I like to choose items I believe fit the recipient and look throughout the year so I won't be caught at the last minute and spend too much money, etc.
It looks like it might rain today. Good. We can use it and it might cool things down a bit. Luckily it didn't rain the day I killed weeds. Now all I have to do is take care of the underground hive of yellow jackets. I'll wait 'til dark to do that. I have an idea of where it is....approximately, but need to clear away some vegetation before I can insert the proper liquid in the hole. Best done with flashlight in hand after dark when they are not active. Needless to say I do not like being stung by those nasty little buggers.
Y'all have an interesting day and remember: Nothing is simple.

Friday, July 30, 2010

It's Friday...whoo hoo. Not that it means anything special to me, but for others it's the end of the work week and time to relax. Me, I have things to do. I'm going to try to get some "stuff" organized so I can find things when I look for them. It's going to take me a while. I'd go outside to work but it's too hot. Last time I did I was soaking wet when I got through and it wasn't even 10:30! This evening I go to knit group. Good company and conversation. Yesterday was gallery day. Again, good company and conversation.
The hummingbirds have been very active and going through the "nectar" quickly. What's really entertaining is to watch them shoo each other off and every once in a while do this loop de loop flying thing when protecting their "territory". They are a great source of entertainment and don't cost anything but some sugar and water.
Hey, I've been voting for my daughter in Anthony Bourdain's contest. Every day. Don't know exactly when the contest ends, but it's soon I'm sure. Have you voted for her yet? Go to http://kyddryn.blogspot.com and look for the blog with Bourdain's picture. That will take you to where you can vote. Please.
I leave you with the following: To err is human; to blame it on the other party is politics.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Hmmmm, let's see, it's Wednesday. Nothing special about today except I'm on top of the dirt instead of in it. Read Tatersmamatakeonthings blog and am glad she put what she did. It's about time we stop apologizing for being American. After all, if it weren't for our military, those in Europe and England might be speaking German and Israel wouldn't exist. Heck, we might even be speaking Japanese. And a thank you for the help from Canada, Australia, etc. Freedom isn't free. I just wish ours wasn't being eaten away by the PTB.

People will do what you let them. It's time to re-think who we should send to represent us.

Monday, July 26, 2010

Yesterday I picked blueberries. I mean I picked BLUEBERRIES. I have a lot of them in my freezer now and some in the fridge waiting to be included in my high protein drink, or on my cereal, or.....
I picked until my back let me know it was unhappy about my standing on uneven ground. I see the chiropractor this morning and, hopefully, all will be better when he's adjusted me.
I may go back and pick more in a couple of days.
For some reason when I see blueberries I think of the smurfs.
That's all folks.

The only imperfect thing in nature is the human race.

Sunday, July 25, 2010

I can't believe but it really happened. I slept.....all day yesterday. I'd wake up, look at the clock, maybe answer Mother Nature's call, then go back to sleep. I decided, finally, that enough was enough and I really needed to eat something. And while eating I caught up on mail..mostly. After that I went upstairs, read a while, and slept again 'til this morning. Guess I was tired, huh.
Didn't realize trying to be creative while listening to someone hammering the heck out of a piece of copper (almost constantly) could be so tiring. but I would do it all over again and probably will next year.
If you want a laugh this morning go to http://tatersmamastakeonthings.com. Her eulogy for the Pillsbury dough boy is great.

It's been a short week, or so it seems. Time flies when you're having fun. I'm back home again and guess what.....I needed a nap! Guess I didn't sleep as well as I thought. 'Course my roommate left at o'dark thirty this morning. She had a long way to go.
Hope to use what I learned to make some new stuff. I have all kinds of ideas kicking around in my head. Must unpack first, though. For now it's off to take another nap. Tomorrow I'm picking blueberries.
Have a great day and remember: If you rest, you rust.....Helen Hayes
(Guess I'll be getting a little rusty).

It's our last day here and I must finish one project. Although I didn't get that much done I did learn some new stuff (it's always good to learn new STUFF). Think I'll stay tonight and leave tomorrow morning. I did pay for it after all. My roomie is staying also. I may go back to the gem show and maybe not. Lots to do at home. I'll be picking blueberries if the weather is good. So many ideas running through my brain and I know I probably won't get to any of them any time soon. Wish I could stay here and work for another week. Perhaps the next time I come here I'll come for two weeks in a row. I am going to make some things here in preparation for finishing at home. I would love to have a disc cutter and a table drill press, sigh. Guess I'll just have to save my pennies.
Y'all have a good end of the week and remember: buckle up, it makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your vehicle.

Hey, all you people out there that read this.....go to http://kyddryn.blogspot.com and look for her blog that takes you to where you can vote for her essay in Anthony Bourdain's contest. There's a picture of Mr. Bourdain in her blog so you should be able to spot it easily. She really could use your support, folks. As for me, I vote every day. You can, too.
Have a lucky day.

So here I am, the second day at school. Yesterday didn't go as well as I would have hoped. For some reason my brain did not want to have any creativity. I plugged along on the project hoping I'd get it finished by the end of the day. The bracelet is done, now on to other things that might be a lot more interesting. The instructor has some good projects in mind and I'm looking forward to something new.
Y'all have a good day and for goodness' sake.....VOTE! If you don't vote you can't complain.

And I'm off! To lapidary school, that is. Otherwise I've always been a bit off. Going to learn some new stuff and hopefully get my enthusiasm back for making artistic pieces instead of just grinding away with the chainmaille. Granted I've sold some pieces these last two months, but am glad I don't have to depend on those sales for a living. I would like to branch out if possible.
I'll be taking my computer with me and will keep up with all you folks I follow. Don't know how much, if any, writing I'll do. Must keep up with email or I'll have to spend half a day when I get back doing just that and most of it will be spam.
The gem show is this next weekend so I'll take a trip to that so as to purchase some clasps and other stuff I need. Nope, not buying gems. I'm on a tight budget. Besides, most of the gems are not of the best quality.
Y'all have a peaceful Sunday and remember: The alternative to getting old is depressing.

Yesterday I had my back adjusted without the boot. What a difference. While it still isn't 100% it is soooo much better. And guess what, my new shoes arrived. The ones that would make both legs the same length if I had the boot on. No biggie....I can wear them anyway and will at least have them if I have to boot up again.
K and all came up and J and I worked on my mower. We got the tires inflated and he made sure the gas was clean and the oil was okay until he got it back to their place where he could work on it in the garage. We had to put it back in the shed because of a gully washer that came up. A new battery was necessary so we went into town to get one. After installation, it still wouldn't start so I called a friend of mine who knows much about such and he came over to see if he could help. He turned the key and saw that the starter thingy was going backwards. Seems J had put the battery in backwards. Ooops. Well, that was fixed and my friend went home. J got the mower into my truck (pushing it....what muscles!) and drove it home to work on it there. I hope he is successful in getting it started and running. Wonder if he knows how to sharpen the blades?
While we were doing all of that, K and RA went berrying. She lets you know all about it at her blog http://kyddryn.blogspot.com
I'm off to gather things together for next week. I'm taking a course at William Holland Lapidary School. I'm taking my computer with me but don't know how much time I'll have for it.

Y'all have a beautimous day and remember: Each time in your life when you think you are about to be able to make both ends meet, somebody moves the ends.

I'm off to the chiropractor this morning.....without the boot. The orthopedist says it's up to me to wear it or not so I'm trying without to see how things go and hope that the adjustment without the boot on will put my back back to where it should be and I can get around without hurting. I'm looking forward to being pain free one of these days. When the company whose inversion table I ordered sends the missing nut and my daughter can get the table put together I will have further relief.
My neighbor says the blueberries are ready to be picked. K and J along with RA are coming up today so it's picking time. J and I are going to try to get my lawnmower running. I'll let him use it once it's up and running so he can hopefully earn some money. Jobs are a might scarce right now. Just have to get tires, battery, etc.
Y'all have a productive day and remember: The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.....A. Einstein.
